Ok, I understand your point now. It's just the offensive moves are slightly too powerful. We'll see as they improve for next year.

Still, you can't do anything about the guys you are talking about. They are going to play the way they think is right. To them, a close up layup and dunk are the only shots wort taking in this game. That will never change.

But they can certainly adjust some things here and there.

This game needs an overhaul if you ask me. Certain things I see going on is just cheesy from the git go.

Anyone ever notice that you can take a wide open jump shot with the nearest defender 12 feet away you miss and the commentator talks about some "great D"? I really believe that what you see on the screen means little to nothing in this game. It's all about the ratings.

What does the commentary have to do with anything? That has nothing to do with your point at all.

What about when you make a lame dunk and they both go:

"OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!"

C'mon man. Are you really complaining about a guy missing a wide open jumpshot?

Yeah, I think the way Live went where the shots just rim out if there is a ton of traffic is the best way to handle it if they can't get the collision detection right on ball-hand contact and man-man contact. Like if you run a zone against these idiots in Live properly and just pack the hell out of the paint, they have to start shooting outside or it'll be rim out every time they force it just because of the pressure. Some of the top-rated superstars will continue to make some of those buckets, but it's just a lot easier to stop superstar abuse in that game because of the proximity defense mechanic, which thankfully also applies in the paint.

I was so overjoyed to see the blocks from behind and whatnot, but those animations rarely trigger anymore since the patch. I remember in the demo controlling Bynum and just blocking everything that came into sight -- blocking was always one of the things that I've done well in this game since 2K5 and it felt better than ever, but it was mysteriously toned down for the game itself and reduced further after the patch.

Seems like it's better to let the CPU try for interior blocks and rebounds... manual control makes it less likely that you get either, mostly because it takes stupid angles or just whiffs on blocks whereas the CPU player will "pick" a proper animation to contact the ball. I was a beast with manual rebounding in every other 2K game, but I'm horrible at it this year despite there being more animations and the rebounding being improved overall (more reaching animations, one-handed boards, etc.) -- that over the back thing that happens all too often when you block out is the biggest culprit, but it just seems like you don't get rewarded for going for boards/blocks manually in 2K9. That ruins my defense also because I have to keep playing defense through multiple possessions as the CPU offense gets board after board...

No wonder I play Team-Up 80% of the time haha... the last regular game I played was against one of my friends who is one of the Top 5 simmest players I play, and I still was pissed off half the time due to the defensive and rebounding problems. Just hard to enjoy the game this year...

As long as 2K refuses to give the defense a fighting chance, the the game will be filled of swiss....

We need a contested shot slider BADLY.

And I hate when I am playing great one on one defense and they should do a spin move from basically a standstill position, get around me, and score an improbable shot in traffic. The shots in traffic hurt my heart.

And lets not get on the end of buzzer shot frequency....

2K seems to have had the buzzer shot issue for a while now...

There's definitely some BS that goes on this game but out of the 100's of games I played online in 2K8 and the 130 that I've played on 2K9.....there's no way 2K9 is cheesier than 2K8......

Yes, the spin moves and super dunking are out of control with Lebron and Kobe and maybe a few others but with every other player in the game, its definitely containable without much effort....

I agree with the blocking.....I've never been great at timing blocks myself, I'm much better at defensive rotation and stealing whether its picking off passes or stealing the ball from the ballhandler....The CPU is definitely much better......I find it much more effective to get a big guy in position and quickly switch and bring someone else over also......I find it easier to make a block with the 2nd defender than the 1st defender.......But if you don't switch off and bring a 2nd defender over, the help defense does'nt come quick enough....

These are just things you gotta do play D this year....Maybe not realistic but I have a much easier time beating the spins and dunks in this years game than the lead passes of 2K8...

Also, I'm the same player I was last year but my record online is far much better this year than last year......I think and I have thought since the game came out, that despite the bs, this game rewards b-ball IQ much more than 2K8....

Getting spacing, matchups, etc, all matter more this year...

I was happy to get a from behind the back block yesterday with AK47 online.....Can't remember who the guy had but it was a guard on a fast break and he tried a layup and I swatted it out of bounds....

I love how this year, its easier to get space for a pull up jumpshot just by being able to manipulate the isomotion a bit.....In this game, it seems like you can almost invent moves on the fly just by being crafty with the triggers and the stick......I love that about this years game.......And I notice that most people I play online, definitely don't utilize the isomotion like that...
