        Hey...to each his own.

I just wish you would've given Philly a #1 or something in exchange for Thad.

Well i think the 76ers offered me him because in the beginning of the season, the Pistons traded them Prince for Andre Miller. I think this also caused the Pistons to offer me Rodney Stuckey because he hasn't been getting the playing time with Andre Miller and Chauncey Billups in front of him in the rotation. I didn't do the Allen Iverson trade.

            Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS

Ok I need some offseason cap experts to chim in for me.

I've got enough cap space to land a decent 80ish type player and a Max player. However I have two guys on my squad who will command a pretty good chunk of change....good news is I have Bird rights on both of them so I can exceed the cap to retain them. Both will be hitting Free Agency to test the market so this gives me time to use my cap space for other players before bringing them back.

I don't want to wait till the last minute to offer the guys with Bird rights contracts because they may take an offer from another team.

If I offer 2 FA's contracts and offer my Bird rights guys contracts can I wait till the end of the FA period to confirm the Bird Right deals or will they get impatient and accept another offer? If I accept the Bird Rights guys before the other FAs accept the deal they'll eat up my cap space instead of my Bird Rights cap space.

Obviously in real life this would be easy you just commit to your Bird rights guys and sign them at the tail end of FA after you've made your additional signings with your available cap space. Just haven't figured out how to do that here.

            Hope someone can help.

I haven't done/got to an offseason yet. I would say sign sign the FA's you want, and then give whatever your Bird's Rights players want so you don't lose them.

Right thats the plan. But if I offer everyone a contract and my Bird right guys take their offers first they'll eat up cap space and the new FA's won't be able to sign. I want to offer everyone contracts and sign the new FA's to their contracts first. Then go over the cap with my Bird right guys.

I just need to know if my Bird Right guys accept my offer can I confirm the signings twords the end of the FA period after I've signed the new guys or will they get impatient because I'm holding off on confirming the deal after they've accepted...then decide to take another offer.

I don't know whats changed this yr in terms of re-signing/offseason tasks.

Last yr, if I remember correctly, you'd have to accept/decline your options, work out prospects, draft, and then would it be re-signing or signing FA's?

If you can sign FA's before you go to resign your current players then sign whatever FA's you can given your cap. If you have to re-sign your players first, and then move to free agency then you will be screwed because your re-signed guys will eat away at your cap.

Again, if free agency come first I say sign who ever you want, and if you don't want to lose your players w/ expiring contracts give them whatever they want - since if you low ball them they might not want anything to do w/ you. You could get into cap hell, but if resigning your expiring players is a must, along w/ bringing in another talent, then I say do it - if it leads to a ring.

                      Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS

Re-signing your own players comes before FA. I'm going to allow them to hit FA and hope I can sign some new players first then my Bird guys. When you make an offer this year they mull it over for a few days then allow you to check mark a box to confirm the signing once they agree to play with you. If it allows me to wait a week or so before checking the confirm box I can effectively sign some other players with my available cap space then confim my bird guys who will put me over the cap at the end of the signing period.

I just wasn't sure what the time frame was from the player accepting the deal to when I must check the confirm box. If you wait too long to confirm an agreement I'd think they'd walk.

                        Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS

In my knicks franchise i just did the following trade:

                        Zach Randolph
                        Nate Robinson
                        Anthony Roberson

for Hedo Turkoglu + Tony Battie + JJ Reddick

I did the trade to give me cap room for next year, as well as add a shooter off of the bench.

I currently have marbury on the block but in all honesty id rather keep him, as he represents cap space in the offseason

In trading randolph to the magic i am giving them a very solid PF to put next to dwight, then they can move rashardlewis back to hsi natural position at the 3.

In turkoglu i got my point foward who can hti the outside shot and also drive to the basket.

                        Starters:

                        Crawford/Q/Turky/Lee/Battie

                        Hopeful future starters

                        Duhon/Wade/Gallinari/Lee/????

                          Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS

4 weeks later im completing mypurge by trading Jared Jeffries to the OKC thunder for Johan Petro.

This gives them a SF/PF hybrid to bring off the bench.

Im going to actually miss jeffries as he provided some solid defense, but with the emrgence of Wilson Chandler I cant really see Jeffries playing much, and his salary is interfering with my plan to acquire Wade in FA

Side Note: Turky goes down with a broken wrist out 4-6 weeks.

                          That hurts the playoff chances

Yea...Not a bad move...I don't think that Orlando is missing anything in Battie or Reddick. Plus they get Nate Robinson, and Z-Bo can help on the glass and be another post presence.

Ouch...That sucks. Lost Brand for 4-6 after 7 games. He's back now though, and good order and discipline has been restored in Philly.
