      SO no one else has had the game made completely unplayable by the patch? I seriously can't start a game without the system freezing. But my other games work fine...

          The tuning they applied to drives and inside moves is unbelievable. Before, on a lot shots(especially by me the User) a very awkward animation would trigger and lead to a block, a shot hitting the side of the backboard, or just a really, really ugly miss.

          Now the game almost always choose a really nice contextually appropriate shot animation and it looks frikin great. Both the misses and the makes are quick and fluid. They look like NBA shots. The CPU also makes a lot less And 1 shots when bumped hard to the floor.

          The pull up game is pretty sick now too. Played back to back games vs the Wizard and the Rockets and it was a thing of beauty to see Arenas and T-Mac using the hesitation dribble and pulling from anywhere.

          My wish list for next year is pretty short.

            LOL, you dont even have the patch but you say the help defense strength slider at 0 doesnt work, maybe you should actually test it post patch instead of posting that people are lying or experiencing a so called "placebo effect." If people cant see the huge difference with help defense strength slider at 0, defensive awareness 100, coach profile help defense at 100 and defensive pressure at 0 then you must be crazy.

                It's still too slow at times. There's that one animation where the shooter takes two steps before he takes his jump shot. That's a killer.

                There need to be more animations (or at least exit points) to branch off the offensive moves to a jumpshot.

                They also need to find a better way to deal with the inside game. There are just way too many blocks. I have some ideas.

                  MVP welcome to the OS baby ! I would ask others who have used your particular slider sets what they thought of the patch. Some people have reset sliders and started over and some have kept their same slider sets post patch and are also enjoying the game.

                  If you have it just right though why chance it. Don't be greedy. get off the forums and enjoy your game:wink::wink::wink:

And I'll go even further to say that I think there needs be more ball mishandles, bobbles, strips, and deflections and hacking fouls committed whenever the ball gets inside whether from the drive or from the post. A ballhandler driving to the basket should be susceptible to mishandling and/or losing the basketball while taking it into traffic past help defenders who are taking a swipe at it. Interior passes going through traffic should be deflected or bobbled by the receiver more often. A defender guarding a player in the post should be able to force the post player to mishandle the ball and sometimes lose it to a lurking help defender. Adding these things will ramp up interior defense and represent how difficult it should realistically be to get the ball inside and get a positive results out of doing so.

                      The patch didn't edit help defense, making having the patch or not having no effect on whether or not your strategy works.

                        Yes, all great ideas.

                        The entire "drive and dish" mechanic needs to be produced a bit better in 2k basketball. Right now, it's very difficult to drive in the lane and dish off to your big man for quick shot since the defender (help defense) never fully commits. They come over and bother you but not enough to deter your shot attempt because you can initiate penetration shots from so far away.

                        If defenders have a bit of delay because they commit off their man, couple that with quicker jumpshot and all off a sudden you have a much better mid-range game. Shooters also need to collapse inside the 3 point line if their defender commits ever so slightly unless they are a solid 3 point threat. Too many guards camp around the 3 also...

                        Lots of stuff this game can improve that are small nuances but will make a huge difference in the way this game plays.

                          I'm very happy with 2K again because of this patch. Some guys who really don't know the game of basketall (cheerers Im talking about) will probalby not like the game anymore because now the game has turned for the better because of defense. With the patch, players who can play good defense are going to love it. The FG% has really dropped drastically, in a good way, I played 3 games lasat night against my buds and we both shot around 45%-50%. Before the patch, I really thought the offense was overpowering. But because of the recent patch and tweaks that people really don't notice with the naked eye ,this game feels and plays great. I like Live too, but I think I"m still going to go back to 2K for when I really want to spend time with it. People that say this patch did nothing or made it worse, you're on crack. If you don't like it, then you must not know how to play basketball. Thank you 2K, your game is back. - J

                            Saw a new less-exaggerated leaner animation a few times as well.. it made that move much more useful because you didn't fly so far laterally. The old one still happens most often though, so I'm not sure if/how I was doing something different to get the shorter one. Sometimes I'd use that by accident running towards the baseline (damn you broadcast/nosebleeds cam!) and be out of bounds by the time the shot was released...

                            That's another kind of annoying thing about 2K9, you can do certain specific moves (the in and out or double-cross for example) and there are multiple animations for each one.. it's just fairly unpredictable. I like the extra animations, but it should be clear when certain ones will trigger (like the leaner, if you hold RT then it'll do the long one or something). The other irritating lack of control comes when you're just dribbling around and your guy does random between-the-legs dribbles, spins in circles, does the crab walk, switches ball-hands twice without you prompting it... drives me crazy. Player movement was much tighter in 2K8 and that's the area they need to improve the most for 2K10 -- there are lots of ways to improve the controls while giving more options (like 'challenge shot' by pressing Y, go for block by pressing RT+Y), but they need to get the basic movement to be more natural and controlled.

                            But yeah, the pull-up game was great in 2K8 -- the animations triggered a little faster than they do this year. Guys like Nash and CDR with those ridiculous fast shots will kill with it, but I think that kind of speed is probably overkill (especially when Ray Allen's shot feels like molasses). That little delay that they sometimes do (which seems to be reduced slightly since the patch) absolutely drives me crazy, especially with faster release guys.. totally ruins your timing. They sometimes do that "settling" animation in a catch-and-shoot situation as well, which is even more annoying.

                            I don't have much problem withe the drive and kick this year except that people who switch quickly to big men can manage to fly out there and challenge it still. The spacing just sucks, and until they improve that, they'd have to tune recover speed or something.. I dunno.

                              turn up your passing lane sliders. i have mines up to 80 and it does a good job in deflecting alot of the backdoor passes the CPU does. now im seeing some decent assist numbers by them.

                                no u dont have to reset your settings. u can still keep everything u have and it wont mess with ur association. you will just notice the gamplay changes when u play ur games. like u will notice it will be much harder to backdown people in the post. good luck!
