After watching the Spurs vs. Jazz video, I can't say that I'm seeing anything that has impressed me. I need to have the game in hand to really make a true post about it.
I can understand why you would make that statement. I won't mention the other game in this thread so I'm not addressing those statements.
2K has been the only real choice for years. Many of you have acquired a comfort zone and familiarity to a particular game. While there is nothing wrong with that, to each his/her own, if you don't have an in-depth knowledge about something, how can you intelligently speak on it? I am very knowledgable about 2K and have been playing it for several years. I also have spent a considerable time with the competition and am friends with the lead gameplay designer. It makes me laugh when people make statements that aren't backed with any facts or insightful opinions.
I have observed that most of your knowledgable basketball gamers set the trends for where gamers spend their money in the future. If all of the Sim Style gamers move to another game, and rave about who realistic it is, that's where people will be. (i.e. everyone moved from the competitor to 2K in the early to mid 2000's) Now in order to maintain the comp to LY, they must cater to both styles instead of just making the best sim possible.
Finally 2K is still building on a flawed engine that can't really do what they are asked to do by the fans. Now they are covering up the problems under the hood with animations. I think they just made the old gameplay issues unrecognizable because of the 9000 animations they captured. If you have a girl that has a bad attitude and is disrespectful to you, and you get her implants and a make over, she will look great but still frustrate you and cause headaches.
I'm still in wait and see mode..... I have yet to play 2K10 so I can only speak off of the videos and comments made by people who have played the game. I will be doing a review like I did last year (which 2K won even though I liked the competitor better) when I have had time with both games on 12 minute quarters, no slider adjustments, vs. the CPU on all the difficulties, and vs. a human on and offline. That is the only way to know what game is what.
