Re: Official NBA 2k10 Impressions Thread

I'm loving this game so far. I have both NBA games and I've been playing this one so much more. There's something about it that makes me keep playing.

The one area were I'm having a problem is my A.I. controlled players leaving there man and trying to help out and then recover. I have no prolem when they help it's when they try to recover is the problem. It's like they're chickens with there heads cut off trying to rotate to another player to guard.

Anyone have an idea how to fix this. Other than this issue this game plays a outstanding realistic game of bball. Very happy with this game so far.

Hands down, Live 10 has the arena feeling down especially with arena specific chants. Some of the chants are awful. I shouldn't here "Get up!" over the commentating. I'm turning arena noise off next time I play.

******* this game is freaking deep so many new tendencies . going to take so time for me to get use to it. Going from NBa2k9 to 2k10 is a huge step. New ratings scale, new tendencies, time to get accustom to this game.

maybe turn the Help D to 0. See if that does anything.

This is a great game if you can accept the fact that, there is no post defense. It's been this way for how long? It just kind of makes Human vs Human games frustrating.

i normally dont do this but out of the box, this game is terrible. alley oops galore, high fg%, cpu teammates that are borderline ********. no offense to anyone there.

after just half a game, ive had enough. straight to using some slider tweaks.

I see where the core demographic was being the main targets for this game. although on default its very fun, Its by no means realistic.

Re: Official NBA 2k10 Impressions Thread

After playing this game non-stop I have only 4 problems:

                - There is no physical play under the basket and no way to body up your opponent or initiate contact. This is the only exploit I have seen used repeatedly online. Dive, dish inside, dunk ...especially with D Howard. I could have sworn I read a dev blog about there being more contact on the inside at close range this year. However as it stands there seems to be no consistent way or bodying up or altering a shot or dunk attempt.

                - The Alley oops are just too much. They look great but they are too easy to pull off even with mediocre passers and regular dunkers.

                - The Overhead passes look horrible and dont seem to look contextual at all. I can be standing 2ft away from a teammate and still end up having an overhead pass.

                - Frame rate issues...fix...it...yesterday

                edit...

                - Oh and is it just me or is the substitution screen that comes up during your freethrows not the most annoying thing

Turn your help D to zero that what I did. I thought that was the problem with all the alley oops. because my players would leave their man and stand in what I call "no mans land". And watch the alley go over their heads. But after turning it down. It sort of helped. But still had alley after alley thrown

As for your point of playing human vs the CPU, I wholeheartedly agree that playing the CPU is more of a challenge and stimulating that playing against paint abusers online or hum v hum. You cannot take off a possesion when playing the CPU which makes it really immerses you in the game.

Jeebs, you should add me and a bunch of other OSer's to play online with if you do not want to be continually frustrated by playing PIP abusers. The devs have to cater to the casuals and cheesers alike, afterall its the reality of the profit motive in the video game industry; but that does not mean that you have to cater to them also.

I know that they have to make game for a causally user and hardcore users. But basketball has to be in mind here. When I say that I mean. We all know if your 2 feet from the basket it is an easy shot. But how often does that chance happen in real-life? I mean on average guys. How many points in the paint does any team average? 30%...40%..(dare I say) 50% of their points. If one guy is playing legit. And another has no clue what is basketball. But is beating this legit guy won’t we always have something in question. I’ve been in so many leagues now. I don’t think I’ve been in one league where a fight hasn’t broke out between 2 members. Because one of them felt they got cheesed…..<o></o>

Everything should a risk and reward. When my friend throws that sick alley oop to Lebron in the half court. Pause the game. And says “Wow I didn’t even mean to do that. Don’t get me wrong… The play was hot. But I didn’t mean to do that”. As opponent and a 10 year 2k gamer. I have to say WTF.<o></o>

With any league, there will inevitably be that spat between members about too much PIP, cheesing, etc. In my opinion, we have the most "Sim" league running for 3 years straight with active members, who would rather sim than win. Check out our rules, and our webpage, and let PM me if you want to join our upcoming season 7 league for 2K10.

I still think online leagues are the most slept on feature in this game as well as previous 2K games. It's a win win situation; play other sim heads, while avoiding the online rank lobby cheesers who will frustrate you to the point of thinking the game was broken...lol.

Ok man...first off...I know there is a slider...(not my first time playing 2k) lol Secondly I'm one of those guys that don't touch sliders. I never have and never will. And yes I play on-ball defense. You ever been to the 2k forums>? They flame and bash dudes in the head that say they play off-ball lol.

Hoping someone can lend me a hand here.

Has anyone come up with a setting/slider combo to alleviate the absolute domination with the inside game? This is something I am really struggling to get past with this game.

I don't want to fudge it just so players miss close shots -- if an average to good inside scorer gets position he should knock down his fair share. But getting to the rim is proving exceptionally easy and I can't find a way to fix it. KG, Perkins and Sheed are shooting 75% and scoring 20-25 a game.

                                Any ideas?
