Re: People with frame rate issues
Here's what I posted over on the 2k forum and my take on the problem:
System: xbox360
Offline or Online: Both but I want to address offline since this is where I really encounter problems
Camera Angles: 2k, Broadcast (and others)
Stadiums / Arenas: Most, but some bad ones are Philadelphia, Denver, Dallas, Cleveland, Orlando
Ron,
First of all, I am seeing considerable issues using both the Broadcast Cam and the 2k Cam. Major lag occurs when you in-bounds the ball, take the ball into the paint (unless you turn Key Zoom off), before you get inside the 3 point line, and when you're taking the first FT (still a problem!!!). You can do a combination of things with minimal presentation turned on like the game ticker and still find frame-rate problems. I have tried various zoom options and camera angles (every single zoom / angle combo. for the 2k Cam specifically) so here is what I think the problem is regarding the frame-rate.
There is simply way too much going on for your game engine to handle. With the players, dynamic crowd, lighting, and everything else on the screen, the game or 360 hardware simply can't process everything at a smooth 60 FPS. It's like trying to run 10 programs on a computer from the 90's. Not happening.
1. You could get rid of the different or "cinematic angles" during the first FT. I'd rather be able to shoot a FT with the same camera angle I'm using for both shots anyways. In the very least, this would bring consistency for any lag still present. But the second FT does not have lag EVER and this view is in the 2k angle.
2. The crowd animations are probably the root problem. I know people like the crowd dynamics and the same guy constantly walking the aisles, but unfortunately I think you need less going on in the ccrowd and taking up "bandwidth" so to speak to have a better game. I would ask the developers how memory or performance the crowd constantly walking up and down the aisles is taking. I love the presentation. Don't get me wrong, but presentation isn't worth it when it's dragging down actual game-play. I think you need to fix this issue even if it comes at the expense of reducing some of this dynamic presentation.Comment

Re: People with frame rate issues
do the framerate issues happen when you lessen the advance video settings? like turning the crowd animations off, decreasing player quality and the like?Follow me on Twitter: @domidomdomz

Re: People with frame rate issues
This sounds ridiculous, but after my first game that was unplayable at the Q -- I've played three more games since then including the same match up as my first game and have had no noticible frame rate issues...
All I have done is downloaded to the HD. Now, I won't say that there aren't minor slowdowns in some cut-scenes or when the camera switches sides, but the paint slowdown and other gameplay related slowdowns are gone for me.
Hopefully we will get an official patch to clean up all issues but as it stands my game is soo addictive right now.
Also, on a side note, my brother also has a 360 and has had no issues from the get go.Comment

Re: People with frame rate issues
I'm playing a game in teh celtics arena and the framerate issues are happening when the spinning spotlights wont turn off while the game is goingComment

Re: People with frame rate issues
There really is no excuse for this. 2k should really optimize the game properly from the get go. How did something like this get past them? This obviously proves they do not test the game before releasing.Comment

Re: People with frame rate issues
Are these problems mainly with the 360 version? I was thinking about picking this up for ps3 in a few days, but I'm pretty anal when it comes to framerate problems. If some ps3 people could confirm or deny this for me I'd appreciate it.Now, more than everComment

Re: People with frame rate issues

Re: People with frame rate issues
I didn't notice the lag in 2K9. I can't play 2K10 in its current state because it makes me nauseous.Comment

Re: People with frame rate issues
I haven't bought my copy yet, just played the demo. I read that you can tweak the zoom of the camera to avoid the problem. But I am a bit concern about it after reading in a review about the framerate issue. Should I be worried?<Mojo>Comment

Re: People with frame rate issues
I guess I must be mighty lucky, because I have not seen one single frame rate issue in any arena playing on my 360. Hopefully something can be done for the rest of you guys.Originally posted by jim416You are the 2k Police. :)Comment
