Re: This game owns my soul.

This is the first sports game since CH2K8 that is not only great but insanely fun to play which is why I know I'm going to be playing it for a long time, likely until 2K12 comes out.

To me, games like The Show wear thin quickly because they aren't fun. The control is so limited and things get repetitive so damn quickly. I hit a button to throw a pitch, I hit one button to swing the bat. Sweet. That's not the case at all with 2K11. You have so much control over all the action it's remarkable.

    1. 2K finally nailed Isomotion, I love it.
    2. Phenomenal post moves & control.
    3. Flick-flicks are so bad ***, easily the most underrated part of 2K11
    4. Passing and OBC is very good
    5. New layups/shotstick is great

And that's not even getting into playbooks, strategy and other coaching adjustments you can make. Plus, you can see by playing friends and playing online that a vast majority of gamers don't use the more advanced controls in the game. No other way to say it than they are missing out on some really dope stuff.

Besides the controls, the ebb and flow of the game is great - very CH2K8ish. I played an Association game in Boston tonight with the Knicks. I was up 18 in the first half and wound up losing by 7 in OT and it didn't feel cheesy at all. The teams go to their stars by and large.

Ah, and how can we forget the classic teams? That buzz won't wear off on me for a long time - in fact we're just at the tip of the iceberg with the classic teams. More and more classic roster files and teams will pile up over time. I see PB already finished the 89-90 season. I know those projects have been done in the past but it's even better with so many real 2K classic players already in the game.

Of course you can nitpick and find things to complain about but if you're a basketball diehard you're nuts if you don't love this game. It's everything I could have ever asked for in an NBA game.

Seriously though, after the update, this game is by far the greatest basketball game to hit the market.

We are so quick to complain about flaws in games ( as we should ) but not nearly as quick to praise. 2k11 is not perfec, but offline its as close to the NBA some one can get without having to tell Spike to scoot over.

      -Its smooth as butter

      -speedier offensive sets

      -dominant stars

      -unmatched post game

      -responsive isomotion

      -contact in the paint

      -vast array of animations

      -deep Association mode

      -My Player mode

-large amount of tendencies to vary players.

      -signature style

      -Nba Today feature

      -commentary

      -detailed graphics

      -the "little things"

this game sure as hell aint perfect, but it owns my soul.
This video game owns Jesus soul. There's nothing left to say to us mere mortals . It's the best game ever.

Agree with you mate. Even when you go to the edit playbooks screen, you find yourself amazed at the many unused plays that are not assigned to teams playbooks. i remember going through the classic teams playbooks: you got plays for the 1992 Bulls, 1991 Bulls, 1991 Lakers, etc. that replicate moments exactly how they happened in real life back their respective year> The Pippen drive and kick to Jordan in the corner for the open 3 in G1 of the 1992 finals is there for example.

        It's simply an amazing experience.

You do them by driving, holding the LT and doing a pump fake, then quickly moving the shot stick in another direction than you pump faked in. They are very easy to do once you figure them out and damn near cheese with good players.

You get a whole new brand of step-throughs, reverse pivots, up and unders, etc. It's also how you accomplish Kobe's signature reverse pivot, Rondo's one-arm ball-fake layup, etc.

But i hate the freestyle dribble moves. i needs me some isomotion. oh and 2k needs to implement moving picks and illegal screens calls.
The game does call illegal screens. I've seen that call a few times in head to head.

This game is crazy deep. I havent started a single mode yet. Ive just been learning the game and learning plays. When I hit my friend with plays with the Celtics they are just amazed when I hit them with the play, then the second option on the play, then the counter... its great.

Besides that I have created the 95' Rockets, the 04' Pistons and the 93' Suns. Im in love.

I actually grabbed a lay up out of the air with Big Ben

Thanks, just spent like an hour in practice mode with Kobe, Garnett, and Rondo figuring all this stuff out. So thankful Syracuse finally fixed the online issues so I could play online. Someone was trying to cheese me an entire game just trying to drive with Kobe all game so I used the Heat and used plays to set up Wade and Bosh all game. I don't know the stats because the kid quit with 2 minutes left but I was losing by 4 at half and was up by double digits by the end of the 3rd and even had an off the backboard alley oop from James to Wade and Wade hit a 3 in Kobe's face at the buzzer. The Heat are actually pretty fun to use if you don't try to abuse James and Wade. Wade was the leading scorer with about 22, James had somewhere around 10 assists, Bosh had like 11, and Jones had like 10 points too. Shooting online is much improved after the patch with the exception of shooting with Ray Allen.

What a great post. Although ehh, you know I will disagree with you about The Show but I respect your opinion

I honestly wish I didn't buy half of the games I did this year b/c I feel like I haven't been able to play enough NBA 2K11 as I've been spending time with Madden 11, NCAA 11, NHL 11 and The Show. Granted, I enjoy those games and it's not like I'm forcing myself to play or anything but at the end of the day, b-ball is my sport and 2K11 is the game I've waited years to play.
