    2K9 vs. 2K10

Hey guys, first off I give you the right to call me whatever name you want for what I am about to tell you lol.

I bought 2K10 on release date and didn't think much of it at first. So after about a month I traded it in for NBA Live 10. Loved Live until I started dynasty mode which is what I look for most in sports games. Sold that to get 2K10 and then repeated that once more!! lol ugh.

Anyways, I have decided since I always come back to 2k that I am going to keep Live and I am on my way out to pick up 2k9 seeing as I really enjoyed 2k9 almost more than 2k10.

So with that said, what's your guys opinion on 2K9 vs. 2K10.

And is there a roster set out there for this year?

    Thanks in advance!

    Re: 2K9 vs. 2K10

To me, 2k9 was more enjoyable to play, while 2k10 is still good but has too many flaws. Idk it's hard to compare the two, but 2k9 was the very first 2k game I enjoyed playing.

You're criticizing 2k10 for flaws ?...but co-signing 2k9 in the same breath ???

Look at the size of the court lol...and do you remember the out of bounds glitch ?

2k9 is the worse of the series.

I agree. 2K9 was probably the worst of the series. And even though 2K10 is not perfect, it's far better than 2k9.

Don't feel bad, I've owned both twice too - I just couldn't settle on one. Here's hoping I can buy 2k11 and not even thinking about looking for something else.

Personally, I alternate between 2k8 and 2k9. I like 2k9 overall, but IMO, the defense is better in 2k8.

            Re: 2K9 vs. 2K10

2k9 is the worst 2k game I've played. The movement, exploits, AI, player size, lack of contact in the paint, and number of exploits online just ruined that game for me.

2k10 is definitely a better game imo.

Have you played 2K4? 2K9 was like pure gold compared to 2K4.

if 2k10 played any defense, such as rotations, proper help and paint defense it would be the best b ball game ever IMO....

but as it stands its a miserable failure and forces me to keep playing the less than stellar live for my fix....

i'd still go with 2k10 over 2k9, 2k9 was just a mess offensively especially the cpu offense

lol, im in the minority here. I love 2k9.

I went with 2k10 but couldnt stand all the glitches, I lost about 3 franchises because of some freeze, the clone glitch in my player ruined that for me, and the fact that it took seventeen years for you and your friends to be able to connect to a team up game.

The players in 2k10 were humongous and they messed up all of my favorite players faces and body types, Lebron looked terrible, Chris Paul the same. Not to mention the slippery controls and everyone sliding allover the place, jumpshots clipping through players hands, etc.

I went with Live and enjoyed live run alot until I realized the exploits in that and the fact that dynasty mode was completely worthless.

Went back to 2k9 and enjoyed it alot, It was much closer to 2k8 then 2k10, and 2k8 was my favorite next gen version of 2k. I would still be playing 2k8 if it didnt look so dated.

You act like defense was so much better in 2k9. There's absolutely no defensive rotation in 2k9, poor court spacing, etc.

A lot of the issues in 2k10 are holdovers from 2k9 that were either not addressed or not adequately addressed.

Well like I mentioned in the previous post, 2k9 was the first 2k game I've ever played and enjoyed. What made me get 2k10 was the reason I played 2k9. Maybe if I was to play 2k9 now that I've played 2k10, I might have a different opinion. Just saying that 2k9 was my first love before 2k10. Just understand a lil bit better.

As much as both 2k9 and 2K10 disappointed me, I find 2K10 a much better product than 2k9...they both are plagued with glitches all over the place, but the cpu in 2k10 plays better than in 2k9, court spacing and player sizes are better in 2k10, and the defense is better although it's like comparing the Suns Defense, to the Warriors defense although the suns have better D it's still bad. 2K9 is more of a Wow factor product since games can turn into a dunk contest in a blink of an eye, 2K10 can be that way but it's a bit more difficult in comparison to 2k9.

2K9 in my opinion was the worst 2K basketball game I played this generation.

2K8 = Most fun I've ever had in a sports game.

2K10 = Dissapointing but still better than 2K9.

                          2K9 = Hated it.

                            Well put.

Compared to 2K9, 2K10 is a much better game.

                            1. More advanced/deeper post game.

                            2. Much better court spacing/player size.

                            3. Arena specific chants/songs/sounds on defense and offense.

                            4. Shot animation was faster. More realistic because in 2K9 it was too slow and too easy to time a perfect release. Also it was easy to block shots in 2K9 because the shooting motion was slow.

                            5. Better CPU play by the AI especially on the offensive end. Faster shooting animation in 2K10 also makes playing against the AI tough as I get faked all the time in when the CPU shoots. Makes it realistic.

                            6. More play-calling to choose from. In 2K9 it was 8 at one time while 24 in 2K10.

                            7. Much better and deeper commentary. Also in-game player/team stats during the game was a great addition in 2K10. 2K9 barely had this.

                            8. NBA Today/MyPlayer modes were a great addition to the game.

                            9. Although lead pass is still a problem in 2K10, it was much worse in 2K9. Also full-court accurate bullet pass in 2K9 was a major problem and fixed in 2K10.

                            10. The addition of contact in the paint in 2K10 made FG% much more realistic in the paint area. 2K9 there was no contact which made it a layup drill.

                            11. No more crazy dunks in traffic/triggering layups/dunks from the Free Throw line which occurred all the time in 2K9. This is in large part due to court spacing/player size being improved in 2K10.

                            12. Player Ratings being expanded from 25-99 in 2K10 instead of 50-99 in 2K9. Greatly improved how a scrub/role player/star should play. This added more variety in Overall player rating.

                            13. Adding more player attributes. Such as low-post scoring and inside scoring.

                            13. Although some player faces became worse in 2K10, the overall atmosphere/color in all areas of the game was much better compared to 2K9. 2K9's colors looked stiff while 2K10 was more pleasing to look at.

                            14. Double teams was a long scripted process in 2K9 but in 2K10 it was not.

                            15. The addition of canned block animations. In 2K9 blocking was terrible. I wish the AI can do the canned block animations in 2K10. They did in the Draft Combine. Why did 2K remove it in 2K10?

                            16. Putback layups/dunks being much more frequent and realistic in 2K10 was a good addition. Although sometimes it looks like the defender should get the rebound but instead the put-back animation wins out.

                            17. More variations of runners/drifters/fadeaways. Also the additon of leaners was nice.

                            18. Additon of walk-the-dog.

                            19. Addition of kick ball violation.

                            20. Much deeper player tendencies. This also plays out very well in the game.

                            21. Additon of pregame rituals/Keys To The Game. Game presenting holidays in overlays and commentary.

These are just some of the additions/changes in 2K10 compared to 2K9. I actually can't go back and play 2K9 after playing 2K10. With Mike Wang returning and Jordan being the cover athlete, 2K11 may be an all-time great.
