Re: How to Avoid Contact animations in the Paint(2K10)
I used to use the button for spot-up jumpers and facing up in the paint. Everything else:runners/drifters/leaners/fadeaways I use the shot stick.
I made this thread to let 2K know about this and if they feel this is a glitch(I personally do) they can fix this. It's sort of like the baseline area not initiating contact.
But with 2K11 limiting canned animations, this may not be an issue anymore.Comment

Re: How to Avoid Contact animations in the Paint(2K10)
I confirm this move but I don't use it frequently. I prefer back-to-the-basket post-up moves better to avoid the contact animation. However, I can't see this as a glitch, maybe sim player's exploit?Follow me on Twitter: @domidomdomz

This no contact only applies to posting up. You can try to fadeaway off the dribble in 2k10 and get sucked forward into a contact animation and there's nothing you can do. I hope they refine the contact system because it has hurt gameplay for last second shots especially.Comment

It does apply to post-up moves such as dropstep/spin/stepthrough and then moving the shot stick away from the basket.
I hardly use crossovers with this. Its because some crossovers use the turbo button. But like I said I can't do fadeaways in the paint. I can only do runners/drifters/leaners in that area.
Several in this thread acknowledge this exploit/glitch working and I'm sure 2K11 will fix this issue.Comment

Yes. That is why I made this thread so 2K can fix it for 2K11. Maybe it already is fixed.Comment

No its the opposite. It generally applies to when in a stand-still position or right after receiving a pass or hop-step towards the paint area. Make sure you are not holding/using turbo or this will never work.

Re: How to Avoid Contact animations in the Paint(2K10)
You guys are acting like the jump hook isnt still the bread and butter move of the NBA big man. The problem is how often it goes in, how easy it is to set up, and how difficult it is to get defend.Comment

Re: How to Avoid Contact animations in the Paint(2K10)
Neither have I. But that isn't what I said. I was talking about if you are backing your man down in the post and then do a spin/stepthrough/dropstep(by this time you are facing up) you can then move the shot stick away from the basket to avoid the contact animation.
Regular post-moves are regular post-moves.
a) Getting sucked into an animation with god knows what chance of making the bucket or even getting a foul called.
b) Doing a lil jump hook or even a jumper (the jumper is really annoying, especially a couple of feet from the basket) with no contact and obviously a higher chance of getting it to go.
Now if you're using Dwight, you probably would rather the no-contact route since even if you do get the foul, you'll probably (and should) miss at least one free throw. The no contact move probably is cheesy, but if you watch the NBA, you see that defenses double team the best post players so much, otherwise the post player WILL get the bucket...every...single...time. Ok maybe not 100%, but if a Yao or a Gasol gets deep post position, it's over, not matter what move or defense gets done.
I think that the issue is too many big men are able to hit these hook shots, whereas in real life these guys (as in 60-70% of the big men in the league) would NEVER attempt one because they'll probably get subbed off by the coach if they do. Yao or Gasol doing hook shots all night long because I didn't double them I can accept, but guys like Thabeet??Last edited by sanghai2; 08-22-2010, 09:38 AM.Comment

Re: How to Avoid Contact animations in the Paint(2K10)
^ Not only that but Point Guards and Shooting Guards can do these jump hooks and one handed-flip shots. Completely unrealistic. But with Mike saying hookshots occurring will be rare I do believe this glitch/exploit is fixed.
Also there can be 2-3 defenders in the paint and you still won't get contact, rather these hookshots. This is unrealistic because in real life with three defenders in the paint, they will make you alter the shot or block the shot. This glitch basically avoids contact in the paint no matter how many defenders are right next to you.
I believe this is no longer an issue in 2K11 so we can finally lay this to rest.Comment

Re: How to Avoid Contact animations in the Paint(2K10)
First and foremost 2k has to completely get rid of these canned animations, but as long as we have them I want to see contact animations in the paint before the shot is even released.
In 2k10 you can stand in the paint with any player and if you don't move there will be no contact, it's like there's an invisible forcefield. Double teams also aren't responsive enough in the paint and under the basket.
Also with contact animations I want to somehow be able to practice releases on them outside of playing in the game. I assume there's is still a release point with contact animations and it's just a very small window to get perfect.Comment
