I still don't understand why MJ is wearing his elbow band on his RIGHT arm in that tutorial video. I don't believe he's getting that old that he started to forget things. What's going on with that? Where's the attention to detail, MJ?

Nitpicking, but I hope that all the Jays aren't the same model(height), ex: kobes last year wasn't even low top last year, it was like the same height of every other shoe in the gm. 2k should have lows, mids, hi

Judging from the distance between the calf sleeve and the sock, it seems that those are really low low socks.

Yes, I know what you mean. In 1998 MJ wore very short socks, something similar to what Kobe wears nowadays.

It is actually a combination of both, MJ wearing shorter socks than usual in '98 and all 3 of the shoes he wore that year being higher. Notice the difference using his calf sleeve as a reference point:

I've always preferred the "short distance between calf sleeve and sock" MJ.
