Re: Rebounding mechanics changed severely from 2K10 to 2K11, good thing ?
Most of the clips out there are highlights so I doubt theres much video of rebounding. Just seeing this from the demo. Only real problem I see that could possibly make it into 2k11. 2k10 rebounding wasn't so "floaty"."I'm so far ahead of my time, I'm bout to start another life

This was actually something they wanted to include and was an issue last year. THe guy who did the mocap for the pf's and centers had short arms and it showed in the animations and on players thats what arm length actually matters....GOTY YAo ming .........hm!. andway i think the rebounding system is better the tipping animations are insane with just cause the guy tipped the ball dosen't mean its going directly to him because its an animation i had bynum tipped the ball and Kg caught..it was crazy real i'm so psyched about this game its insaneComment

To box out I just get in position, lean into my opponent and hold L. That boxs him out everytime."I'm addicted to Video Games, and i chase it with a little OS." -Winston ChurchillComment

Strangley, no one ever talks about ball physics and how different shots should effect the projectile of a rebound attempt.
I'm yet to see from 2K a rebound where i have to actually chase down as a result of a 3 pt shot missComment

If anything it improved. Yeah boxing out is less, but honestly in the NBA what teams have all 5 guys try to rebound the ball?Comment

Re: Rebounding mechanics changed severely from 2K10 to 2K11, good thing ?
post 35: i haven't played the demo much but this is a little alarming. boxing out should be common and aggressive. not a ton of bigs jumping above the rim to grab a board. i think another problem with rebounding in all of 2k bball games is the way the ball bounces off of the rim. you get some pretty weird ball trajectories and angles off of misses. instead of a sharp bounce you get floaters and really weak bounces.. this not only limits perimeter rebounds but also limits quick fast break transitions on the wings.
also, do we know how old the demo build is? i mean, everything could easily be a lot better and tighter in the retail version.Comment

good call.

It's still the best rebounding in a game ever IMO.
They patch ur suggestion into the game I will cry. This game is too sick."I'm addicted to Video Games, and i chase it with a little OS." -Winston ChurchillComment

If you're trying to say that the ball doesn't hit off the basket differently based on distance in the game, you would be absolutely wrong. Fire up practice and test it in 2K10.Comment

Re: Rebounding mechanics changed severely from 2K10 to 2K11, good thing ?
I'm shocked at how long this thread has gone. For the record, I don't think the rebound "engine changed". There seems to be new animations and there seems to be some tweaks that would be akin to a slider adjustment internally. The assertion that too many rebounds happen above the rim? I don't see it. What I DO agree with is that the bigs are playing rebound animations that don't suit their athletic ability. I think the boxing out is softer as well, but I don't think it's "breaking" anything yet. All of this seems to be something that a patch can and should tweak. If there is a glaring hole, in my opinion, it's that not enough balls hit the ground so that guards can get the loose balls.
But looking at the games I've played and ALL of the videos that I've seen, I'm seeing rebounds happen at a realistic height at or BELOW the rim. I don't see this barrage of above the rim rebounds that 1 or 2 witch-hunters say. (Not calling you a witch-hunter if you happen to think that is the case...)Last edited by Boilerbuzz; 09-19-2010, 10:15 PM.Comment

agreed. way better than the "other game" but i think at this point from demo impressions, last years rebounding was more realistic in terms of how everything played out on the blocks.Comment

Edit: about last years game. Not the other game part. No comment on that one.Last edited by Boilerbuzz; 09-20-2010, 03:24 AM.Comment

and most would agree with me here

This has always been a problem with every bball game... I agree that last year rebounding felt a little better. Still, I think that all that "above the rim/floaty" stuff will go away once we are able to lower the vertical slider as I always have in every 2K game.Comment

The physic don't change between modes dude. And yes I know what you mean. The difference is that the players get to the ball sooner than they would in rl.Comment
