Re: Your Myplayer Career (NBA 2K11)

Since i'm the PG from Miami scoring is not the problem anymore. As a team we shoot near 50%. I shoot 56% from the field, 46% from 3point.

But that doesn't help as long as my team can't make stops at all.
I've never been afraid to fail.

I'm a SF off the bench with Miami in my second season. Wade is brutal. He takes the worst shots and hogs the ball at the end of every game....on a side note, my player has gone berzerk the last two weeks. Averaging 42ppg 13rbp 8 apg and 5 BLOCKS per game. I posted up back to back 50+ games against Orlando and Atlanta. Booyah

I had only 3 teams to choose from in the offseason, Heat(old team), Bulls, Grizzlies, I decided to join the Bulls and now the starters look like this

                  PG Gordon Lawson
                  SG Derrick Rose
                  SF Luol Deng

                  C Joakim Noah

I'm in the same boat. I started a SG first that I don't play much anymore, and my PF started with everything prior to shoes already unlocked. The endorsements thing is pretty underwhelming anyway.

                      --

For those having problems as a big man, I dunno if there's any way around that early pain, but it gets really fun later on. I'm moving towards the end of my 3rd season with a maxed-out PF and have no desire to stop.

The main thing I would suggest is finding a team with a playbook that revolves around the front court. This will probably mean displacing a star once you're good enough (I moved KG to the bench soon after I signed with Boston). Once you have Floor General status you can call plays, but you must have the ball in your hands and some intuition (press LB/L1, hit the button for the player you want, then pick a button for the play -- all without seeing any menu). Many plays designed for 4's will be run for the 5, and vice versa.

To win, you really need to play like a big man. This means going after every rebound, working help defense, and protecting the paint. Make it an early point to raise up your Vertical, Off and Def Rebounding, Close/Inside Shot, Off and Def Post, Hands and Strength, along with Dunk and Standing Dunk. If you're pulling down 6 or more offensive boards per game by yourself, your team stands a much better chance to win.

Another thing is to not necessarily run the play the way it is called. You may need to be on that blue spot to trigger the next step, but that doesn't mean you have to stay there. Space the floor, set screens, and position yourself for rebounds. Use LT/L2 to box out on both sides of the floor (though you only get teammate grade notes for it on the defensive end). When my swingmen have the ball, I usually live around the block on the opposite side and occasionally creep into the seam between the half-circles in the key, just in case they put it up. Your opponents are very grabby though, so watch the 3 sec.

                      Post up whenever you can.

The AI point guards are unquestionably morons, but they'll still try to set up open shots if they see one during the execution of a play. Set every screen you can to try to force that open shot, even if the play doesn't call for it.

You'll usually get a "Bad Call for Pass" demotion any time you're in the key and call for it, but do it anyway, especially when your team's other big man is posting up. Even before your team "trusts you", the CPU is inclined to get the ball inside, and will make the pass. Makes for many easy dunks.

Post up whenever you can. Again.

Pick an easy FT animation (I like "Hund" and "Orange"); doubly important if you're playing on Simulation. A perfect release will go in regardless of your FT skill. I go to the line 12-15 times a game with 9 minute quarters.

Your teammates will miss easy shots. You will turn the ball over by dribbling on your foot (I hate that animation). You'll get 3-in-the-key calls because your defender can't keep his hands out of your shirt. If the shooter's layup animation doesn't play out correctly, your block won't be scored. The ball will inexplicably bounce off your face during simple rebounds and find its way out of bounds. Eventually, you'll find this stuff funny.

The hardest part is that first season. After that, you'll either feel like a total bad-a**, or worry that you might have problems discerning pleasure from pain. Perhaps both. G'luck.

Long post. You probably shouldn't read it.

Yeah, the default Bulls already have the best defense allowing the least point per game

I'm thinking this bad shooting maybe the team chemistry. Ours is 0 and we shoot 30% every night. It's like clockwork. Plus our idiotic front office traded for 3 SF's (my position) so we have three players demanding trades. Our team is a mess while I continue to be the only bright spot.

Just lost against Celtics. We were down 13 at a time and came back to 5. Rondo got hurt in the first half. But I got cold at the wrong time. I missed my last 5 shots. All were perfectly timed and unforced. It didnt help that we had 15 TOs vs 4 TOs by the Celtics.
We are 27th in PPG and 2th in PAPG. We are the Worst 3pt team. Best RPG. If It wasnt for us turnovering the ball 12+ times and (mostly me) giving up easy shots we would be the best in the League.
