Re: Your Myplayer Career (NBA 2K11)

I thought i'd gives you guys an update on my career so far.
I was a 6th man until the team traded Biedrins and Brandan Wright for T.J. Ford and Jeff Foster, I don't know if that's a good or bad trade for the team, but for me it was good since I was moved to starter after that trade and in my first match as a starter I set a career high with 32 points and in my last match now I set a new career high with 7 rebounds (I play 5 minute quarters fyi)
I thought I would build my consistency up to about 80-85 before I build my layups a bit and then my dunking ability with quickness being next, so far I average 15.8 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.8 apg (mostly because when I pass to an open man he either passes the ball away and I get pass to assist or he misses, and one time I passed to Ellis who was wide open and drove to the basket and as he was about to dunk he suddenly passed to Curry who missed a 3 point shot, wtf is that about)
Anyways my next match is against the Rockets again, hopefully Yao Ming won't be SO dominant like last time
Og btw, could somebody explain the offensive/defense 3 second rule to me?
At first I thought you couldn't stand still inside the key for 3 seconds but in my last match I got the ball and I tried to back up a little to get closer to the rim, but as I tried a post move I got called for a offensive 3 second violation but earlier the opposing teams Center got the ball and started backing up towards the rim and I think he spent more than 3 seconds before he took a shot and he didn't get called for anything.

oh well...still averaged close to the same as the last 3 seasons in scoring(30.7ppg), rebounding(12.6rpg), steals(5spg) and blocks(0.6bpg).

suffice it to say i simulated the playoffs...

      round 1: spurs(4-0)
      round 2: warriors(4-3)
      round 3: grizzlies(4-3)
      finals: bulls(4-3)

met the bulls in last season's nba finals too...it's like a new rivalry between the two franchises...my current team vs. the team that drafted me....my player vs. derrick rose...

      milestones this season:
      -got my 5th nba championship
      -10,000 career points
      -5,000 career assists

      accomplishments:
      -scoring leader: 4x
      -rebounding leader: 4x
      -assist leader: 5x
      -steal leader: 4x
      -all-nba 1st team: 5x
      -all-defensive 1st team: 4x
      -mvp: 5x
-defensive player of the year: 4x

im proud to say that i got demarcus cousins(1st appearance), kevin love(1st appearance) and tyreke evans into the all-star game....demarcus cousins is the new league leader in blocks and tyreke evans led the league in minutes played for the second time...

kevin love didnt quite get 10rpg(last season) but had 9.2rpg due to the emergence of demarcus cousins and the minutes alloted to cousins(33 minutes compared to 9 minutes last season) who had 7rpg himself this season...***doesnt help that i also eat the glass with 12.6rpg for my own player....

andre padgett...my cpu generated starting SF was in the mix for most improved player but didnt quite win it...he averaged a good 13ppg or so

so after the playoffs...i thought tim duncan would retire(even mentioned on the news/headlines during the regular season) after he got his 6th ring but nope...he signed with denver along with my backup PG/sixth man christain joseph(cpu generated)

we acquired ted scott(cpu generated) from the warriors and drafted a few more players at the SF and PF positions

caron butler is still on my team and is still listed in the trade rumor...please move him

coach gregg popovich somehow didnt stay with my team even though he won coach of the year...he's now with the jazz while i have a new coach in matthew hammond or something

also, they didnt even bother asking what players i wanted during the off-season when i chose to re-sign with the kings....maybe because my salary cap was in the negative(-$22M or something, not even sure how that's possible)

      retired players/hall of fame 2015:
-kobe bryant(lakers didnt make the playoffs for the first time this season, they lost phil jackson a long time ago)
      -tracy mcgrady
      -dirk nowitzki

      notable transactions in the offseason:
      -chris bosh - bulls
      -tony parker - hawks
      -carlos boozer - hornets
-kevin durant - heat(i knew his contract was up but WTF?)
      -j.r. smith - raptors
      -tyrus thomas - spurs

anyway...on to my 6th season and looking for a three-peat with the kings for my 6th championship ring

      upcoming milestone:
      -5x all-star selection

      remaining milestone:
      -500 games played(7th season)
      -1000 games played(crazy)
      -7500 career assists(7th season)
      -2500 career steals(crazy)
      -20,000 career points(crazy)
      -30,000 career points(crazy)
      -38,388 career points(crazy)

if you read this whole thing(crazy)
damn dude i don't see how you can play that many seasons in myplayer .

got to year 5 and just shut down myplayer.

busy playing player lock with McGee even that is getting boring year 3 now that we won the championship in year 2 due to alot of injuries on other teams.

trying to keep team in tact sucks that nick young is good scorer with majority of his scoring/shooting attributes are over 85 and his awareness is 95+ but yet he still barely manages to score over 12 points a game. same thing with curry.

in next year version scorers should be able to score especially if their knowing for scoring.

I hate seeing a scoring player suck at scoring.

you were probably in the paint a bit before backing him down...

but i think if both players are in the paint...it seems as though that 3 second rule seems to be extended from my experience...

for example...whenever i give the ball to either kevin love or demarcus cousins down low so that they can score from the post....i usually position my player underneath the hoop for a possible offensive rebound if they miss....sometimes it does feel like my player is in the paint longer than 3 seconds and i dont get flagged....

if i were you...i wouldnt start backing down your defender within that square area(key)...i would back them down from outside the paint and bring them to the paint

i dont play any other games beside this(black ops doesnt count since im horrible at that game)...and like i said before...i usually tinker with the jumpshot animations so that im learning new releases every season rather than just the same stuff that becomes automatic for me....

for the most part the career milestones does act as an incentive for me to continue to play the game...i mean most of them are outrageous and would take at least 9-16 seasons to get(20,000-38,388 career points) unless you're one of those people who score more than 30ppg for your career average....the 1000 games played requires at least 13 seasons...the 2500 career steals will still take at least 7-8 years for me since i only had 82+ steals my rookie year....other than that i get around 350 steals per season now...

i wont lie...whenever i see people post on here about how they're on their 11th season and such...it sort of fires me up and makes me continue to play...i mean i know they simulated some/most of their games or played with less than 12 minute quarters during their regular season but still...that's a lot of time logged to just be simulating...im a bit behind in that regard since i do try to play every single game of the season if i dont get injured(i've had an 80[hawks], 81[heat], and 82[5th year, kings] game season)....i wont deny the fact that i simulate playoffs but seriously...it's a superfluous part of this mode when you dont have the option of shortening your regular season....you get no single reward for the playoffs when you're as far in your career as i am besides the 5 nba championships(which i just got yesterday so the playoffs are completely meaningless now unless i want to tie jordan's ring count)...

i've tried player lock association before and i already explained my main issue with that mode....i dont like how you have to play or watch the entire game when your selected player is benched....

Does someone have any tips on how to defend the face up jumper...

I play as a PF and everyone that backs me down will somewhere in the game do mulitple face ups and everytime the do it my guy is like 4 feet away from him and cant move...leaving him with plenty of space...i saw them doing it so i started to do it and it always leaves a MASSIVE gap between players...

Any tips on defending at least?

it's all good homie i like earning the milestones in myplayer mode but i don't want to go back i might go back and see if i can add McGee to my team and play along side him instead of player locking him.

I used to play 10 minutes but stats wasn't looking right when i had it on 12 min sim quarters i was barely reaching 75 points a game on 10 minutes.

Now that i play on 12 minutes stats look better. I hate the fact that it takes around 1+ to finish a game b/c i have to watch the whole game even when i'm not in as McGee.

Like mentioned before sometimes i just let coach mode roam until 3rd/4th quarter than come in and do damage with McGee since they rarely give it to him down low in coach mode

Yeah i got Black ops also but suck at it also because the game has some skill to it but it's mostly what perks/guns you have that makes all the difference.

yeah...i can finish a game in like 25 minutes even on 12 minute quarters with the intentional foul method i use

that's the thing...when i sit down to play nba 2k11...it's because i have nothing else to do...if i did then i wouldnt mind having to sit and watch the game during coach mode while doing something else that doesnt require my ps3...

are you talking about a trade for mcgee or beginning a new career with a custom roster?

I always land and just grab my ankle...i have had to restart many games because of this...

My durabilaty is at 95 and i have been injured 6 times this season...

this is probably my favorite part! not that you avg awesome stats, thats getting easier to do as you learn how the game plays. the great part is that you make it a point to make your other stars have great seasons as well.

keep up the good work. i still cant believe you got duncan on the kings while keep the core portion of the roster intact

Pros. Rebounding is very easy. A lot of picks are going to happen. Blocking. Posting up.
Cons- Low post defense is kinda broken. You start off way to low. Dont get the ball way often and if I call for a pass I will lose teammate grade.
I chose an All-around Center. It starts off way too low, but has high ceiling. Dunk, Standing Dunk, Rebound, Strength is too low starting out, I know All-round starts low for every position, but come on. I dont care how low they want to start you off at, but there is no way a Center comes in at 30 strength(5 more than a PG). He would get harassed all night. After I get my Shot low Post, Block, Strength, Standing Dunk, and Shot Inside up, It should get very fun.
yeah, if i were to remake my center, i'd probably go w/ all-around too b/c it has a higher ceiling than my athletic center. still happy with my player. i havent really touched any of the offensive stats, i got my blocks up 1st then quickness. my speed maxed out at 75 so that wasnt so bad. i got my dunks up to 90 so i can unlock the dunk packages

i'm working on getting my strength and hands up.

after that will probably b/c off/def rebounding even though i'm avg 20 boards a game right now w/ 60 rating in both.

lastly i'll focus on the offense skills, rest of the defensive skills and the mental stuff

its easy for me as a 7'5 center b/c 75% of hte time when the opposing center faces me up, i know they're about to shoot a jumper immediately so i press block as soon as they face up and usually tip it.

the 25% of the time they dont shoot i'll usually at least get in the way of them as they drive so they'll be directed around me.

not sure how else to close the gap b/c its kind of the locked up posting animation. i just press block as soon as they face up and you'll have a good chance of tipping the shot

nice, i usually just play the full 12 min quarters, game takes about an hour. i usually only play 1 game a day if i get some free time. i could do the intential foul method but i like keeping my season avg stats up and i usually need the extra time to make sure i get those extra blocks and rebounds

Blocking really comes down to how high your player is and how high the opponent is, how high your vertical ability is, and timing, I tried playing the Jordan mode and even though he has 99 in vertical and I built my block up to 89 I still had problems with blocking due to Jordan being a little low, but on My Player mode I have a 7'0 SF and I have 80 on vertical, I usually get around 3-4 blocks a match but if I don't manage to block I get the good shot defence if I time it right and it might throw the player of just enough for him to miss.
As for Black Ops, yeah the perks help you out a bit but it motsly comes down to skill, how good your reaction is and how good you are to aim, I had problems in the start but when I got my reflex and aim going it was pretty much easy, used to get 25-30 kills a match at least

Btw, I don't know if it happens with you guys, but usually when my team has a good start we end up leading like 14-9 by the end of the 1st quarter, but suddenly in the second quarter the other team goes crazy and sometimes they get like 15-4 or 15-14, the just go nuts and start piling in those points while my team struggles to hit a simple jump shot, why is that?

What is it with the fouls in this, it seems like as soon as you get a little contact with the opponent you get blown for a foul, I even got blown for a over the back foul cause I jumped straight up and Bibby came towards me and he got bumped a little, how can it be over the BACK foul when damn Bibby runs into my a**?
