Thanks to you and Vinsanity once again for the responses. I'm not that deep into My Player but maybe I'll just try to make it work as a 6'4'' 26 year old shooting guard. And you're right, I do get thrown at the point and even small forward positions every now and again.

Any chance we can split this thread into 'advice' and 'how my career is going'?

It's 80+ pages long and if you have a question it's almost impossible to see if its been answered.

So I haven't played 2K in years and have become addicted to myplayer mode. I think I have made some bad choices though that are holding me back, considering all the stuff I've read in this thread.

I created a 6'10 rebounding PF. I got drafted 1st pick 2nd round by the Nets.

I simply can't score worth a damn. I have started putting points into dunk and shoot in traffic and such, basically just so I can finish put-backs, which I miss half the time now. I rebound pretty well (about 7-8 a game on 6 minute quarters, playing as a 6th man), get some blocks and play great defense. I only average like 3 points a game and probably half of that is on free throws. I finish with an A+ teammate rating most games mostly from setting screens and such, but usually only get between 800-1200 points with my high being around 1400. Sounds like people are getting a lot more than that.

I think a big problem is that I only have a 30 speed and it's crazy expensive to increase (over 700 points). I have heard the best way to increase it is the dribble drill but as a big, slow PF with limited ball skills, I can't even complete that for a bronze rating. The only drill I can finish for a gold is the 'challenge shot' drill which seems WAY too easy.

I am about 30 games into my first season and have a 55 or so rating.

Any suggestions? Am I doing ok? should I start over? I'm unsure what skills I should be improving to get more skill points per game.

Is there a way to view your current contract? I can view contracts of my teammates but not myself. I want to know how long till I can go somewhere else without requesting a trade. Has anyone got to that point yet, if so how does free agency work?

I wish i would have know. I dedicated to much time to start over. if i do it over i will be playin 6 min qtrs. I was doing 10min qtrs so the stats wouldnt drop off so much. I already started a jordan my player but i want to get all the perks with this mode that the jordan mode can't do like the press conference, endorsments, etc. I don't think a patch will fix this bug.

Well, you should be getting say 1700+ or so a game so you need to be scoring more, if your worried about your speed (it gets more expensive) what you can do is write down your stats, preferably a stat that you have put some significant points into, and when your going to go do the dribble course go in and take away your points and dump them into speed and then do the dribble, once done you can take back the points and put them back from where ever you got them. You can do this for any drill but it seems the speed on is the one people are doing this the most for.

I personally dont do it and the only drill I do is shooting and just put points w/e I need / want them.

I have a 6'3 Shooting guard and was drafted 1st round 30th pick to the wizards and I have played the full season and I am in the second round of the playoffs. As I was going through the season I worked my way into the starting lineup and I have gotten five endorsement deals so far. I have gotten my letter, then my first billboard, the magazine, then my shoe deal, and just before the playoffs I had gotten my second billboard. My player is an 84 and I average 34 points a game 2 assists and 3 rebound. I won rookie of the year came in second in the mvp race and had the best record in the league at 68-14. I also made both the rookie and all-star game too. In my post game conferences I most of the time answer either professional or arrogance depending on the question. Does anyone know how many endorsements there are because the second billboard surprised me.

I look at the All Star voting and Im nowhere to be found.
Im 2nd for MVP right now and leading for Rookie of the Year.
Have had 12 triple doubles and 24 double doubles.

Does anyone know why Im not anywhere to be found in All Star votes?

I answer my PR questions w/ professionalism or arrogance most of the time... a friend is avg. 35PPG 1RPG 2APG and he is 2nd in voting for All Star after only 25 games. What am I doing wrong?

I was never on the list the whole season for the all star game and right before the all-star weekend in a press conference they had asked me how did it feel to make the all-star team so its a chance if your player is playing good enough you will make it.

Only the starters get voted in, not the reserves. So it makes sense that more popular and established players lead in votes, while the more productive players get voted in as reserves.

im a 6'3 point guard and i got drafted in the first round by the magic. the start to the season was terrible. we were 4-11 to start the year. the 4th win came against the heat where i finally got big minutes and dropped 28 points and 11 assists off the bench and we blew them out. then we beat the cavs at home after i had another big game and i was put in the starting lineup for the first time the next game against the wizards where i had 28 points again and 12 assists.

vince carter has been terrible this year. he hogs the ball and jacks up 3's. Dwight Howard cant make any shot thats not a dunk and rashard lewis is easily the worst player on our team. he's shooting around 30% from the field and under 20% from 3 despite being wide open on most of his shots. we are the 3rd best defense in the league though and seem to be getting going now after 3 wins in a row. hopefully we can turn the season around cause we lost 10 in a row at one point already
