I agree that in most cases this is true. But is ea really pushing 2k at all? I don't think anyone should get exclusive rights to a license, but if 2k did, i wouldn't see it as much of an issue.Comment

But what happens from here going forward IMO depends on just how aware the execs are at EA as to what essentially is now the public opinion of their product, which is more important than sales. This was evident with 2k when they were getting killed by EA in sales. 2k kept making a critcally acclaimed product, and eventually it yielded results in sales. EA simply needs to realize this is not a quick fix situation. Some people over there need to make some hard decisions that will be fruitful later, like maybe take the two years or so neccesary to polish and fully develop the foundation of their game before releasing a product that could leave a bad taste in alot of loyal fans mouths. (Sorry for the rant)Comment

Yeah Im against any sort of exclusive deal for anything man. This country was built on competition. Im a huge 2k fan, but I would be upset if nba 2k was the only option. Same as I would be is espn 2k was the only option back in the day.Comment

Well the thing was up until this year, I think EA was pushing 2k. Last year was critically viewed as the best bball game EA had released on this generation of consoles, and although alot of people felt 2k was still in the lead as far as overall quality, the gap was much closer than ever before. Inexplicably, EA chose the direction they took this year, but I think a part of the reason for the overwhelmingly favorable quality of what seems like could be a masterpiece in 2k11 has to do with the pressure EA put on them last year to up their game.

You actually make a very good point. The reason 2k worked on giving users more control probably did have something to do with people favoring ea's freedom of movement from live 10. I also believe though, that 2k's main reason for all the improvements was the simple fact that they seem to listen to their fans. EA has a great group of developers who interact with their fans a lot, but the big shots of the company seem to be really detached from the consumer.Comment

I don't understand what an exclusive license would do for the NBA 2K series - like what would be the benefits ?
In my opinion, I don't think it matters either way. I'm pretty sure 2K has seen how most people are praising 2K11, so exclusive license or not, the competition isn't pushing them at this point.Comment

You act like one thing automatically equals another. Well, unless you have a crystal ball you have know idea what would happen to the quality of 2k's bball game if they had exclusive rights. What if the quality improved? What if it stayed the same? Either one of those could happen.Comment
