Re: NBA 2k11 Custom Arena Music

Question for the PS3 users in here....

How many playlist will we be making?

    tipoff
    long
    home court
    away court*
    chant defense*
    chant team
    halftime
    player of the game

    Players

Away court and chant defense are the samething counted as one*

So we will have to make a playlist each one of these events for each team. 30 times 8 equals 240 playlist. And thats not even with the generic playlist. God...I'm going to back up my PS3 just in case this stuff goes bad for some reason. Because I will be pretty pissed off if I had to do it again lol

having a ps3 also. 240 playlists? :S the developers sure made it like this so we would stick with the default...
umm I can see various in-game music categories can be changed, but can the music in the menus be altered? after a few 100 hours of playing it can be a bit tiresome listening to the same generic pop, softrock, hiphop songs.

^^jeebs i was wondering what things like bulls away mean.

But what about bulls home? What category should it go in if it just has (team) home, and also what category should (team) home & away go in?

And dont forget playlist for individual players lol

From my quess...I think you would take that "Organ (bulls) defence - Bulls Away" and start a playlist with that. And then add whatever you want from "Generic Home up- Away up". Or you could add that one
"Bulls Away" with the whole Generic Home up- Away up"

That's what I think....lol I don't have the game yet. Hopefully I get my hands on it tonight. I'm as lost as you man....

Yea i took "Organ (bulls) defense" and started a playlist called bulls chant defense with that then im going to add random generics in the chants artist folder.

With generics im going to add them randomly to each team in the same group like for example with magic lakers chant d im going to go to generic chant d and randomly pick a couple tracks and add them to the lakers chant d playlist so that way every team dont have the same arena music and there is so much that it will be hard to noticed you are hearing the same thing you might have heard 4 or 5 games ago in another arena

              ^^Those were my exact thoughts^^

I thinking that they might have generic section so that music can be played random from this list at any staduim. I wish someone could fill us in. Because I would like to set up my playlist over this weekend so come Tuesday I have one level of work done already.

lkasprzak, regarding the quietness of the tracks. In the games presentation menu, there was a custom music volume slider. With almost all 700 tracks set to the same audio levels, they should all sound about the same in game. So the relative volume increases or decreases should yield GREAT results all around.

yeah. thats the jist of it.

On my computer, I first created all of my GENERIC playlists.. Then for every team that had truly specific tracks, I added those few tracks to the lump sum playlist, and created a new playlist. The core playlists are key. Then you sprinkle in the specific stuff and you're doing 100% less work.
                ----

                Example:
                GENERIC LONG PLAYLIST
-For bobcats, there may be 3-4 long tracks. Take your generic long playlist and ADD those 3-4 other songs, then create a new playlist.

                and on and on.

For Bulls home up tracks, Combine the GENERIC Homeup/Awayup playlist with your 1-2 team specific tracks, and name it bulls HOME.

For Bulls away up tracks, Combine the same GENERIC homeup/awayup playlist with your other set of AWAY specific content, and name it bulls AWAY.

Basically the playlists will be 99% identical, with that one or two bulls track being subjected to just one event.
                ----------
You may realize as I did that 288 long tracks is maybe too much and I need less of a variety so each venue has an identity.. Thats when you have start having LONG generic group1, with 144 songs, and LONG generic group2 with 144 song, on a playlist front. And give half the league group1 and the other group 2.

For file option 1, I basically did just that for the homeup/awaup tracks and the long tracks. I split the 113 homeup/awayup tracks into 7 groups. Then I took the 288 long tracks and split them into 8 groups. I then randomly picked teams to go into those groups. Basically each divisional team has a diff. group. Ideal for association play. For example last years setup:

                HOME AWAY UP:
in game- group1- nyk, mil, sas, okc, sac.wpl
in game- group2- phil, chi, dal, min.wpl
in game- group3- tor, atl, no, lac.wpl
                in game-group6- ind, char,mem, gsw
                etc......

The hawks just so happened to have one team specific home up track, so I added that one track to the group playlist and named it: hawks group3.wpl

You can get as creative as you want with this.

                -----------

One word of caution, except for the TIPOFF event in which a one track playlist makes sense, Do not have a Bulls AWAY playlist with just ONE "organ defence" song in that playlist. You may hear that 50 times during the course of the game.. It is key to LAYER playlists together.

Last year I found 20 homeup tracks yielded good results and a 30-40 track long playlist.

There is never too much long songs! And thanks for warning me about the same track playing over and over. I will fix my playlists right now. THANKS!

Just to make sure that I'm on the same page as Ruben and everyone else(Did Option 2 BTW):

Would you recommend to just burn each playlist onto a Audio CD?

                        Like for example I mean:

1 CD for GENERIC HOME UP-AWAY UP
                        1 CD for PLAYER SOUND
                        1 CD for GENERIC LONG

and so on and so oo. That way once I rip them to my XBOX, all I have to do is just go to a certain playlist and select that song. Again, just trying to get some confirmation on this that I am doing this correctly.

I edited in a new part on my post above. Maybe its something you do on your computer with the randomly picking of tracks for your groups. I heard no complaints last year with that setup.

Here is this years playlist setup via file option #1 (included in the zip)

                          Bucks- Bradley Event
bucks tipoff.wpl Tipoff (Bucks do not have a team specific track, I used one of the generic TIPOFF tracks)
long group1- mil, atl, dal, por.wpl Long (i created groups and they fall into that group)
HOME up -AWAY up group 1 - phil, mil, sas, okc, sac.wpl Home Up Court (this team has no specific content so I again, created groups, and both events can use this playlist)
HOME up -AWAY up group 1 - phil, mil, sas, okc, sac.wpl Away Up Court (look above)
Chant DEFENSE- random group 1, 2, or 3.wpl (you pick) Chant Defense (of the 15 chant defense, I just created groups of 5 and have 3 new playlists to choose from)
Chant TEAM- random group 1 or 2.wpl (you pick) Chant Team (out of 7 generic chant teams, i randomly placed them into two groups. No true difference between the two.)
NBA on FSN Theme Song.wpl Highlight (they use FSN so it was a natural selection.. Any National theme works too)
NBA on FSN Theme Song.wpl Halftime
NBA on FSN Theme Song.wpl POTG
                          -----------------------------

                          The Jazz
                          Jazz- Energy Event
jazz tipoff- puffy daddy- come with me.wpl Tipoff
                          jazz long group2.wpl Long
jazz home&away up - lots of ORGAN - group5.wpl Home Up Court
jazz home&away up - lots of ORGAN - group5.wpl Away Up Court
Chant DEFENSE- random group 1, 2, or 3.wpl (you pick) Chant Defense
Chant TEAM- random group 1 or 2.wpl (you pick) Chant Team
NBA on FSN Theme Song.wpl Highlight
NBA on FSN Theme Song.wpl Halftime
NBA on FSN Theme Song.wpl POTG

Here, almost every event has team specific elements.
Jazz long group2= All LONG group 2 content+ jazz content
                          jazz home&away up - lots of ORGAN - group5= Generic group5 hu/au + jazz organ sounds.

Ps3 users, youll soon find out, many of these are nothing more than two playlists combined into one.
                          ---------------------

ProfessaPackMan, I did exactly that last year before I knew you could stream. I had all the songs named on my xbox and everything.. When you rip on the xbox, the names are not there, so you really need to remember how you ordered them when you set them to burn.

But luckily, if you go the 1 cd per group type, in the xbox dashboard, you can EDIT the ALBUM type for that entire ripped cd. so you really have to do no naming at that point.

I would leave the team specific stuff to the last few bunches of CDs because those really need some names attached.

You also have to create your own playlists on the xbox dashboard. With the albums named when you rip, getting those core GENERIC files set as playlists is really easy. I think you can select the album and choose to "add to current playlist". Then you save it.

                          Hope that makes sense

Thanks for hooking this up man! I know it was alot of work and I greatly appreciate it. For those of you wondering all I did for PS3 was make two data discs and copy them directly two the HDD and they were automatically tagged and sorted into playlists. Thanks again RD!
