    Re: NBA 2K11 IGN Review

I see how some want the game to be hard, but I agree with the reviewer. It's the same issue with MLB The Show. For people with limited playing time the task of moving a player to MLB status or NBA status is far too time consuming.

The option to be a young stud who comes into the NBA at once, if available, would make the mode more appealing to people who don't have time to build a character.

That's what the Jordan: Making A Legend mode is for.

You can easily accomplish this the same way we did back in the day, just make a CAP and place him on your desired team and start an Association. Not all the extra bells and whistles of My Player but you can get be a young stud immediately.

this game is going to be sick. this paragraph was the best in the whole article

"This is one of the most incredible year-over-year improvements of a game imaginable. Madden, EA's NHL series, MLB 2K, and just about everyone else has been served notice. There are no more excuses for half-assed annual updates. Bring it every year or you will get booed out of the building. "

Wow. What a great review. As someone that has purchased every NBA 2k game since Dreamcast, I can honestly say this is their time to shine, and this is the basketball simulation we've all been waiting for. I also appreciate that the reviewer picked up on the chronic "one year isn't enough to do this and that" whiny BS from a lot of yearly titles and their devs. 2k just went out and proved that a year is a very, very long time. And if you spend your time wisely instead of wasting 6 months of your dev cycle implementing some stupid, ridiculous gimmick that will get more 10 year olds to buy your game; then you can create a mastery of a sports simulation. I really hope that not only is this game immensely successful for 2k, and nets all of their devs and employees them all huge bonuses and enough money for every person that poured their heart into this game a long, relaxing vacation. But also that the rest of the companies that produce sports games catch on and see all the positive reviews from not only sites such as IGN, but also the people on boards.

I've witnessed and truly believe that some companies believe we as sim gamers just constantly need something to complain about. Thus, they're unable to see our criticism for what it is, constructive and helpful. Instead, they just see "i want headbands" and "I don't like your company so I'm going to take it out on you." 2k listened to us, took us seriously, and instead of trying this delicate balancing act of appealing to both the hardcores and the casuals, made a straight up simulation game at the risk of burning sales from casual players who just want to dunk on everyone all game every game. The risk has started to pay off for them as of today, as they pull in a 9.5 from a gaming website that very, very rarely gives such high scores to sports games.

Simply put, the best basketball game of all time, and to some of us, the best sports game of all time.

Thank you 2k. You fully deserve all the praise, positive reviews, and profit that you'll see from this game.

Guys, I was really thinking about skipping a hoops game this year, since the three stooges kind of made a mockery of the real NBA this season. But I may just have to check this game out, if only to see why it scored so high. Bball is supposed to be the toughest sport to make in to video game, which makes it all the more of an achievement.
Hard to believe how far this series has come since it's humble beginnings on the DC.
That being said, the real score PROBABLY should been in the high 8's / early 9's, since it still really just is basketball, played with the buttons, but with MJ splashed all over. Goldstein is probably a bit of Jordan fanboy.

I think you are wrong when talking about his gripe against My Player...

I think he is feeling like I do with the mode...

Your player starts too freaking low, Who really comes in at 2 40-50 overall... That really sucks, I think you should be 60 lowest if you are actually doing good in the beginning games and training

9.5? Man...I'm trying so hard to like this game...I just can't move the ball well enough and get any open shots or get my guys to space the floor well enough. I've tried running plays, freelancing, everything. Honestly starting to think my controller might be broken, the movement is so jerky at times. I REALLY want to like this game, but I am getting so frustrated hitting 30% of my shots and never getting open I'm becoming physically uncomfortable during games.

That sounds like me when I'm pitchin' and get shelled in The Show. That means the game is good !

                            Nah, I'm just playin'..

I wasn't even planning on getting a b-ball game this year and haven't bought an NBA game for a few years...but after seeing this I think that's going to change!
                              This game looks awesome.
