Re: NBA 2K12 theme: Which past player should be next?
Nope.
2k12 should go a different direction. I wouldn't be surprised to see regional covers featuring many different cover artists. Rose covers in Chicago, Kobe covers in LA, Wade/LeBron covers in Miami, Durant covers in OKC.
That's what I would like to see. Jordan is THE transcedent player in basketball and no other name has the folklore in its respective sport that Jordan's carries. I'm hoping to see simply better gameplay, and possibly even more Jordan-like challenges featuring other stars (Magic, Bird, Chamberlain, etc) but it shouldn't be the main feature like the Jordan Challenge is to 2k11.
On a related note, will Jordan's appearance in the game be something that would have to be renegotiated each year? What are the chances that Jordan's involvement is a one time deal and he disappears in 2k12?Comment

Also in keeping with Elite having NBA Jam as an add-on, we could get that cool Dr J V Bird (Rename it Magic V Bird) ol atari game as a bonus.
There'd be at least minutes of fun with that.Comment

Possibilities are endless with that with how many legends there are. Imagine a Wilt one? "Score 100 points...Grab 50 rebounds..."Last edited by Fiasco West; 10-03-2010, 05:06 AM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12 theme: Which past player should be next?
Yeah, I guess my concern is we will lose our digital MJ and those of his ilk. I, as will many, don't want that to happen now we have him.My teams: Leeds United, Central Coast Mariners, Denver Broncos, Florida Gators, Florida Marlins, Miami Heat, Brisbane Broncos.
My screen-name is a combination of my favourite college football player in Tim Tebow and my favourite ever Bronco, Terrell Davis (30).Comment

Re: NBA 2K12 theme: Which past player should be next?
i would prefer classic games in 2k12 instead such as
Lebrons 55 point game against the bucks
Lebron vs the Pistons
Kobe's 81
Kobe at MSG
T-Mac - 13 points in 35 seconds
Bird vs Magic
Lakers vs Kings
reggie miller vs knicksComment

Re: NBA 2K12 theme: Which past player should be next?
i really think 2k should just make a seperate game and focus more on the current players, the current game, and improvements.
have durant on the cover next year...
release a game called nba legends or nba vintage 2k and use old players and teams
then release nba 2k12Comment

I believe this Jordan thing is one time deal.. I believe 2K will go "Present" in 2k12..Comment

Re: NBA 2K12 theme: Which past player should be next?
They should do the classic nba theme every 5 or 10 years man then it keeps its ''woooow'' factor....next year IF the heat win then Bosh Lebron and Wade should be on the cover....This year they had Jordan to symbolise ''The greatset game of all time, with the greatest player of all time'', so next year should be about ''the best current sports game of this generation, with the most dominant team/thressome in sports today on the cover''Comment

Re: NBA 2K12 theme: Which past player should be next?
They've gone forward in time with Jordan, how about back in time with LeBron?
The LeBron Challenge would add LeBron to classic teams and situations trying to match someone's past performance.
Can LeBron score 100 on March 16 1962?
Can LeBron score 49 in the 76'ers game one playoff matchup with the Lakers?
There could also be game situational challenges. Game 6 of the 1998 playoffs vs. Utah, tied, can LeBron steal the ball for the fast break winner?PSN=Coolcas7Comment

Re: NBA 2K12 theme: Which past player should be next?
No other player is as marketable as Jordan..
You don't start with Mike and than move onto another retired player.. No matter who it, it's a step back..
Next game will either be KD, Wade(with Lebron maybe?) or Kobe againComment

Re: NBA 2K12 theme: Which past player should be next?
I don't think they'll going to be doing any more classic covers...I'm betting the next coverboy for 2K will be Lebron.
But a feature, yes I think they will add onto this. Add more historic teams as we go along. Bird and Magic era would be cool, personally I'd like to see Hakeem and the championship Rockets in here eventually.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12 theme: Which past player should be next?
People have been saying LeBron will be the coverboy for years, and I don't think he ever will be. If he was going to, then he should have been on it this year, or last year. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a tyreke evans, stephen curry, or even john wall on itComment

Re: NBA 2K12 theme: Which past player should be next?
There's no question that any player on their own isn't going to top Jordan, but the obvious Magic-Bird rivalry cover has so many possibilities, not to mention that it brings back another, earlier "golden age" of basketball.
With no NCAA game, you can even have the "Bird-Magic Rivalry" mode start with their title game in the college tournament and progress from there.
Franchise Man's blog on this was quite good, I thought. (http://www.operationsports.com/feature.php?id=1121)
EDIT: You could also argue that since there may be no NBA next year, a classic rivalry approach insulates 2K12 in case there is an extended lockout.Comment
