I don't think classic players should be the focus. Jordan is different cause.....he's Jordan!! The game has to be marketed to young people so current players should be the focus. However, as someone who played games when Magic was a stick figure, I love classic teams & challenges as a feature!!! Much more enjoyable than all decade teams. Maybe each each team could have a classic version.

Re: NBA 2K12 theme: Which past player should be next?
Yeah I would think Classic teams mode would be a great thing to expand on instead of just a player. As for the cover, go for Bron...if they can persuade MJ they can persuade Bron
And if you like him or not, everybody knows who he isComment

Re: NBA 2K12 theme: Which past player should be next?
I would also prefer the classic teams and add some more. But if they decide to go another route (and this might be a stretch)... What about adding International teams and having an Olympic mode with qualifying and all (since the Summer games are in 2012).Comment

Re: NBA 2K12 theme: Which past player should be next?
If the Heat actually live up to the hype this year, I think it would be interesting, if the put Lebron, Wade, and Bosh all on the cover. Could be a pretty cool image with all 3, and its never been done before. And I agree that a classic moment mode would be great to include, re-enacting great moments from the NBAComment

Re: NBA 2K12 theme: Which past player should be next?
I think its D.Rose. They have been preparing him for something major since he got into the league. I think they will but the Magic/Bird rivalry in there but I don't see them copying Madden. But like I said at the top. D.Rose has been groomed for the cover. I think they will go back to the Allen Iverson days by having the cover guy be known for the gameThe Buzz is Back in the Queen City. Cho........I have no idea what you are going to do in this draft man.Comment

Yea i agree with Rose possibly being on the cover of 2k12. I also think 2k should use multiple legends Magic, Bird, Wilt, Kareem, Olajuwon, Nique, Reggie Miller, Stockton & Malone etc....Comment

Re: NBA 2K12 theme: Which past player should be next?
I think 2K will go back to focus on current players (maybe some older teams, but just as a little addition, not as a concept). I have a feeling 2K is going to focus on a new engine/new system...or something like that. Maybe they even started working on it a while ago, remember they said around June that 2K11 is pretty much done and that they just keep tweaking it?
I know 2K11 is considered a GREAT game, but another year with some tweaks and the past players concept again - would mean failure. Not necessarily because the game would be that bad, but because it wouldn't bring much of new stuff.
That's just the way I see it.My Specs:

Re: NBA 2K12 theme: Which past player should be next?
People have been saying LeBron will be the coverboy for years, and I don't think he ever will be. If he was going to, then he should have been on it this year, or last year. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a tyreke evans, stephen curry, or even john wall on it
Idk, I think it would just be cool and having Bron on the cover next year for 2k12.
I don't think 2k would go with a young gun, lately they have been going for established guys. Jordan, Kobe, Garnett. Also you put the competition in a hard spot with another huge coverboy in LeBron, love or hate people do care about him.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12 theme: Which past player should be next?
Lebron has to much bad press would be fun if 2k went after Durant next year but 2k should definitely continue with the classic teams and expand on it but is all seriousness all other covers athletes will be a downgrade.PSN=Coolcas7Comment

Re: NBA 2K12 theme: Which past player should be next?
Posted this in a thread yesterday...
but my question is, how does 2K top this year's title? You have the greatest player ever. Not just that, you have the greatest player ever, that hasn't appeared in a game in years. Fans have been longing for this moment for so long.
and to top it off, you have your modes based strictly around Jordan. AND you throw in his teams and other classic teams, which is another thing fans have asked for for years now.
so, how do you "top" that? I think the best bet would be to try to capitalize on the inclusion of legendary players and classic teams by having a Magic & Bird title within the next couple of years.
I saw a thread about this a while back, and loved it. It is the only thing you can do that would be at the same level as Jordan.
Think of the challenge possibilities...
you could have Magic's "Arrival" - Game 6, 1980 Finals vs Philadelphia (42 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists).
you could relive the classic Magic vs Bird games.
or if they didn't want to do specific player challenges, they could have a challenge mode based on current players.
try to re-live Dwyane Wade's heroics in game 3 of the 2006 Finals.
LeBron James' 28 (I think) straight points against Detroit in 2007.
Shaq's 61 point game on his birthday.
Kobe's 81 point game.
Vince Carter's 50 point playoff game against Philly when he went nuts from downtown.
Duncan in game 1 of the 2003 Finals. 32 points, 20 boards, 6 assists, 7 blocks
I'm sure there are several more. But I would love for 2K to utilize this "Challenge" mode every year.
