Why not just base the whole game around the Big Dipper, Wilt Chamberlain! I'm just going to re-write my post in the 2k12 Wishlist Forum:

You could keep the Jordan Challenge and just make it the Wilt Challenge. First, 2K, still keep Jordan and the the classic teams. Also for the Wilt Challenge, think of all the classic teams that would be added (various Celtic teams, Wilt's Sixers, Wilt's Warriors, Wilt's Lakers, Alcindor's Bucks, Reed's Knicks, The Harlem Globetrotters, Big O's Royals, and Elgin/West Lakers to name a few. The Challenges would be: Score 100 in one game (obivously), Win 1973 Finals, Average a 50-25 (in place of MJ:Creating a Legend), Beat the Celtics in 1967, Lead League in Assists (in place of MJ: Creating a Legend), Haul in 55 board vs Celtics, sweep the Bucks in 1971, do something for the Globetrotters, and have ummm realtionships with 20000 different women(just kidding, but it is a real record). A new Wilt layup package(finger roll) and Wilt turnaround shot would make the mode even more authentic.

I agree with this statement, after having Jordan on the cover I think the "WOW" factor won't be there as strongly with another player.

Possibly a cover with Jordan, Bird, Magic and a few other legends while following ace's suggestion of multiple NBA moments. That would be completely boss.

The game should be completely retro Hardwood Classic

I said almost exactly that in the wishlist thread, but more specifically I said each championship team and runner up from every year. But even that is limiting. Maybe that plus the All-NBA teams from each year, plus multiple player challenges, and more unlockables and DLC.

Well, I'll say if they remove the classic teams next year it would be a huge letdown for me. I love the classic teams. Whatever they are paying to keep the players in they should continue to do it and just expand on it a bit more.

As far as who is on the cover, I could care less. I do like the Magic/Bird idea though.

For classic teams, I would love to see something similar to what Madden used to put in for classic teams a while back. It seemed like they would put both Superbowl teams for each year, and if there was a big rivalry matchup in a conference championship that team would make the list as well. Sometimes these were unlockable, and rarely were the players names actually there, but I would love to see that and be able to edit the player names and appearances.

I have a feeling there won't be any past player on the cover next year. I would say they may go with Rose, Boozer or some other dominant current player. I'm not sure if there will be past teams, but if there will be, it will probably be the same teams...unless MJ isn't in anymore - so it'll be like the old games where instead of MJ there would be a guy called Player or something like that.

Anyway, to me it doesn't matter. Even though I love the old-school teams when I was playing 2K11, 90% of the time I'd play with my current Pistons, even though I'm a HUGE fan of the Bad Boys era Pistons and good old MJ.

no one.. MJ is THE Legend .. he was on the cover cause everyone knows him and he was never plyable in games.. the only post player who deserves to be on the Cover is MJ!!!!

I hope the OP isn't right and they don't make a theme out of this. In the longer run this would become redundant and arbitrary.

Let 2k11 be as special for the series as its cover athlete is for the whole sport.

I agree, 2K should go back to current players next year. I would say Durant but he's on Elite '11. Maybe Rose will grace next year's cover.
