For those having trouble with Nique or Drexler, do what I did. Get them into foul trouble, I had 'Nique foul out 2 min into the 4th quarter and he had like 18 points. Drexler missed a big portion of the 2nd quarter because of foul trouble. A bit cheesy but I was attacking the basket with Jordan and Pippen until I got those guys out.

How did you beat the Jordan Challenge so quick? I have tried a couple of them and haven't completed one yet.
Ehh: saw your post about defensive adjustments. I have made several recently and haven't noticed a drastic change in how the CPU plays/scores. I was in the Jordan Challenge today, trying to outscore 'Nique and beat the Hawks. I had Pippen guard 'Nique and had him play aggressive, on-ball and off-ball. 'Nique still made shots and finished with 23, but Pippen's defense definitely had an effect on how the Hawks ran their offense. They ran a lot of stuff through Willis and Koncack came off the bench and was on fire. I wound up losing by 3 in what was a back-and-forth game. Biggest run Atlanta had was 10-0, but I had one of those myself, so nothing alarming there.
I even played it again the other day and the game went into 2OT and pip held Nique to only 9 points. I pretty disipline on D. But if you are blowing them out just let someone else score by not guarding him and allowing a layup or shot for a player other than Nique. I know it's cheesy, but whatever. LOL.
I had the most trouble with the Flu game and the last dance. I don't use the steal button a whole lot. I like to pick my spots, so it took me 2 tries to get 4 steals. It took me 4 tries to get 7 rebounds in the Last Dance. Other than that it wasn't too difficult and a lot of fun.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K11 Impressions Thread (360, PS3)
As some mentioned in other threads. Things were going great. then something changed. I guess I need to retrace what roster I download or is loading and what slider settings I have because for 15 games or so, I hadnt seen a need to change my foul sliders, then all of a sudden I get these next few games where every drive to the basket is a shooting foul with 80% of them going in on the and1.
The minute I change one thing, the game goes into panic mode. 2k10 was the same way and a big reason I quit on it before thanksgiving.
Time to spend a few hours and maybe just start fresh. I dont understand whats happening
Field goal %'s went way up, scoring with contact/points in the paint were much easier, pass deflected at a much lower rate, fatigue has much more of an effect, fast breaks are much easier to run and free throws became much smoother online.
Some good, but mostly negative. I'm still awaiting word from 2k on how these changes came about.Comment

That is not cheese that is real life B-Ball strategy. You have to make them more timid so getting them in foul trouble is a great plan of attack.
Another impression. Currently Wade is playing with a bruised hip....I love how they show him limping around the court. Nice touch.
Game keeps getting better and better and better. No game play patches needed IMO (although others are screaming which is nuts this game is amazing out of the box) Just association bugs that are being worked on currently.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 10-19-2010, 11:32 AM.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Official NBA 2K11 Impressions Thread (360, PS3)
This is the 2nd best sports game "of its time"(NFL 2K5 #1), and the best sports game of all time to date. 2K5 is outdated graphically, or I'd give it #1 all time still today. For its time 2K5 can't be touched though, and still the best all around football game.
I'd easily give 2K11 a 9+ rating. I can easily over look its flaws.
If this game had more historic teams, and had a slightly smoother walk/run feel....I would give it a 10!!
2K....fix those jaggies! Your game is just too good to let that slide.Last edited by wheelman990; 10-19-2010, 11:34 AM.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K11 Impressions Thread (360, PS3)
I cannot really get enough of using the classic teams in exhibition mode. The Jordan Challenge was tremendous, but taking control of the Bad Boys or Lake Show is another experience entirely. So much potential with the mixing and matching of retro clubs. It's totally not limited to Michael Jordan here. All those classic teams are stupendous.Comment

I agree with you guys. If this game had tons of classic teams, I wouldnt even touch modern teams much. This game reminds me when basketball was so great! Not just Jordan, but so many amazing teams & players. We need Barkley, Dr. J, and others here.
Might be cool for 2k12 to have a classic franchise mode. Maybe start with 1988-89, and release the next classic season in 2k13. Just make rookies fully customizable.......just a thought.Comment

Oh man....I'm loving the on court player sounds. Before 2k11 I always had turn the player chatter up. Or only heard in street ball games. But know seeing Kobe (or anyone for that matter) drive to the rim. And some contact happens. You'll hear "ahhhhh!" I love watching the players complain about no foul calls. Its really nice.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

I haven't played an NBA game since the SNES days. And I don't bother following the Association anymore.
But I enjoyed watching basketball back in the late 80's and early 90's.
The Bad Boys were fun to watch as were the Bulls and Lakers.
Remember when the Pistons had the best defense in the league when they were the only team to average less than 100 points against a night?
Anyway, I'm going to rent this game this weekend. If the My Player is as fun as it looks and sounds, I might pick it up.
From the vids I've seen, this game just oozes authenticity.
And because I'm ignorant to the game, I probably won't care about most of the flaws in it, haha.Comment

I totally agree; this could be the best game ever but some of the bugs and glitches from association make it hard for me to put it over 2k5. Maybe after the patch; but right now I've still got it tied with 2k10 as #2.Games I'm playing FOREVER: NFL2K5, That is all.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K11 Impressions Thread (360, PS3)
The logic on double screen play sets is killing me right now. I got both screeners standing doing nothing, sometimes both guys roll or the logic in deciding who rolls and who pops is odd. For example, I run Nelson's double screen play (not sure the name), and I end up with a rolling Lewis and and an unaware Dwight Howard standing 20 feet from the basket.
Ugh.
I see the improvements 2k11 has made, but the nagging issues are starting to nullify any enjoyment in playing the CPU.
Until a patch, it looks like I'm left with playing team-up games with friends.
This game is reminding me so much of my experience with Live 10. Offline play is stale for me so far. But I'm enjoying team-up games a lot. Versus online for me is hit or miss depending on the opponent, just like Live.
2k10 was an extremely frustrating game with a myriad of issues , but I enjoyed offline play more for some reason.
I think it was the ease of the freelance system of your AI teammates. I loved being being to mix that in with plays. Even though 2k's playcalling system is improved it still has a lot of issues concerning User and AI execution and becuase of that, running them every time down is just not fun for me. And with the well documented touches and playbook issues, turning on auto play calling isn't doing it for me either.
I also think a huge part of it is the fact that I'm a huge NBA fan with what I like to think is a good eye for the details, nuances, and strategies of NBA basketball. And I think that is setting me up for disappointment when it comes to NBA video games. I enjoyed them a lot more when I didn't know so much about the game.Last edited by RipCity71252; 10-21-2010, 03:55 AM.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K11 Impressions Thread (360, PS3)
The game is fun and challenging but I have two issues. First my AI teammates don't play as well as my AI opponents in My Player. The team I play against will pass the ball around and actually run plays. However frequently my teammates will pass once and jack up a shot with two people hanging all over them. Second, why do my teammates suddenly change position or direction when I pass to them? Where are they going? That has caused many turnovers which kill my rating.Comment

I bought every Live from 97 to 2010 and I must say this game has a really steep learning curve. But overall it is near perfect and 2k has officially converted me. Great game so far with a lot of different options to keep it fresh.NFL - Vikings
