Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Alright, 2 games into year 2 of my association. Memphis is able to defeat Dallas 103-84. Larry Bird was the most electrifying player out there. He put up 34 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 2 blocks. Dominique Wilkins was only able to pick up 28 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 block. Unfortunetely, Kevin Willis got injured in that game. He has back spasms and is day-to-day... Good news is Johnny Moore is fully healed from his injury, but having our PF, Kevin Willis, playing with an injury may cause problems for us.

Up next, we have the Seattle Supersonics. The player we need to watch out for on the Supersonics is THEIR PF, Tom Chambers. The rest of my team is going to need to back up Kevin Willis, because I'm sure he is going to get owned multiple times by Tom Chambers.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Okay, so I was right when I said we had to watch out for Tom Chambers, because he absolutely torched us! Tom Chambers picked up 43 points, 14 rebounds, and 1 block. Larry Bird had a bit of an off game, but he managed to pick up 29 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, and 4 blocks. Our SG, Derek Smith, was able to help Larry Bird out by picking up 28 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. The Grizzlies were able to escape with a 100-90 victory.

Kevin Willis played this game even though he was injured. I was actually quite surprised by the way he played injured. He managed to pick up 6 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 block.

The bad news: we lost Johnny Moore for 2-4 weeks due to a severe ankle sprain... Kevin Willis is still day-to-day, but I would think he'd be healed by our next game (and yes, he IS healed for this game). So, with a fully healed Kevin Willis at PF, we head into our next game against the Golden State Warriors. Their key player is none other than the young Karl Malone! It looks like Kevin Willis healed just in time to play against a great PF.

Year 2 of my Mavericks Franchise:

Lost in the NBA Finals to Boston in year one, and I decided to take to heart the comments by the announcers that the team needed an infusion of young talent. Made the following deals:
        • Signed & Traded Tyson Chandler/Roddy Beaubois/2012 2nd to ATL for Al Horford (Roddy goes from 68-73 in first offseason, develops into about an 89 OVR by the middle of his second contract)
        • Haywood/Dominique Jones/2012 1st to PHI for Iguodala/Hawes (Jones goes from 69-72 in first offseason, becomes about an 83 by the first year of second contract)
        • DeShawn Stevenson/2011 1st to PHX for Grant Hill
        • Corey Brewer to POR for Rudy Fernandez
Resigned Barea (3/$16.5M) and Butler (1/$7.8M), split MLE between Tayshaun Prince ($3.74M) and Andre Miller ($1.17M).

        PG: Kidd/Barea/Miller
        SG: Rudy/Terry
        SF: Iggy/Butler/Hill/Prince
PF: Dirk/Marion/Louie Forbes (2nd round rookie)
        C: Horford/Hawes/Mahinmi

I'll likely end up trading one of my 4 starting-quality SFs for more depth at the 2, possibly a young project player, but otherwise the team looks pretty damn loaded to me. I'm only about $440k from the hard cap but it's obviously more than worth it for a title.

In a couple of years, Kidd/Hill/Miller will be gone, Dirk/Terry/Marion/Prince not long after that, so I'll be looking at a core of JJ, Rudy, Iggy (aging), Horford and Hawes. Pretty excited to work with that as well.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Alright! Another game done in my NBA 1985-86 franchise! The Memphis Grizzlies defeat the Golden State Warriors in OT 101-98. Larry Bird falls 2 rebounds shy of a double-double, but managed to put up 49 points, an assist, and a block. Michael Adams picked up a double-double with 15 points and 15 assists. For the Warriors, Karl Malone was also 2 rebounds shy of a double-double, and picked up 32 points and 2 steals.

And, like all my other games in my assosciation so far, this game also had an injury to my team. One of my PFs, Ed Nealy, twisted his ankle. Good news, he's only day-to-day, and he was able to return healthy for our next game. With starting PG Johnny Moore still out with his severe sprained ankle, Michael Adams will keep the starting PG position for now.

Our next game is against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The two players we should watch out for on their side are at PF, Thurl Bailey, and at C, Sam Bowie. Larry Bird should have no trouble in this game, and our other highly rated player, SG Derek Smith, should also have an easy game.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Our matchup with Minnesota was a bit scary. The Timberwolve's PG Ray Williams had a great game picking up a double-double with 32 points, 1 rebound, 11 assists, 3 steals, and a block. Seriously, my team couldn't defend worth anything, we got outscored 35-27 in the 3rd quarter.

Larry Bird had another explosive game has he picked up 40 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. The Grizzlies pulled off a 110-102 victory.

Up next, we play a crappy looking Los Angeles Lakers team. They have a 69 overall rating, but have so far managed to pick up a 5-2 record. With Reggie Theus as their highest overall rated player (83), I think that the player we should pay more attention to is their center, Darryl Dawkins (overall 82). Something tells me that he is going to dominate us in the post in this next game. Larry Bird will have an interesting matchup at SF with a guy who has a high letter in perimiter defense, but can't shoot well. If we play this game well enough, we should have an easy win.

EDIT: Made a trade using trade finder. I traded away a SF, Phil Hubbard, 2 first round picks and a terrible center in Earl Jones. In return from Philadelphia, I get Rodney McCray, a 78 overall SF, age of 25, B potential.

Rodney's strengths are his abilities on defense. He has an A in perimiter defense, and a C+ in post defense. On offense, he has a decent inside game (B-), but lacks the outside game of Larry Bird. It'll be interesting to see how this addition to the team will affect my team. (another interesting thing, the Lakers were so content on wanting to offer me their good center, Darryl Dawkins, in some of my trades. This wouldn't really help them as I play them next, and I'm not giving them anyone valuable).

(sorry to be "spamming" this thread, I'm just getting done with things quicker I guess?)

Well, the game against the Lakers didn't go entirely as expected, but the Grizzlies were still able to pick up a win 102-95. Larry Bird put up 32 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. New addition Rodney McCray played a decent game picking up 2 points, 5 rebounds, a steal, and a block. Darryl Dawkins really wasn't as much of a threat as I thought he may be. Reggie Theus was WAY more of our problem. He put up 29 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Up next, we have a struggling Toronto team with, again, nothing that Larry Bird and Derek Smith shouldn't be able to handle themselves.

EDIT: Also, Johnny Moore is day-to-daay with a twisted ankle. While I don't expect to see him shooting the ball too much, I hope he can at least make some good passes.

Started an Association with the Jazz, and immediately began rebuilding. Derrick Favors and Al Jefferson are the only players left. from that team.

Got 4 first 2011 first round picks. I am able to sign

                  Jimmer
                  Alec Burks
                  Chris Singleton
                  Bismack Biyambo

I trade my 2 2012(Mine and Lakers) picks for Sacremento 2012 first round pick, it ends up being number 4, and I sign

                  Doron Lamb.

During my trades for first round picks, I pick up:

                  Landry Fields
                  Larry Sanders

In 2013 Free agency, I let Devin Harris walk (85, 28 yrs old) and sign Jrue Holiday (85, 23 yrs old).

                  My Lineup is now:
                  Starters (Ratings w/ Chemistry effect)
                  Jrue Holiday (87 ovr)
                  Alec Burks (85 ovr)
Chris Singleton (84 ovr) (already 2nd all defensive team, love it)
                  Derrick Favors (88 ovr)
                  Al Jefferson (89 ovr)

                  Bench

Jimmer (77 ovr) - JJ Barea/Vinie the Microwave
Landry Fields (85 ovr) and Doron Lamb (75 ovr) - Good Shooters on a bench is always a plus
Bismack Biyambo (74 ovr) and Larry Sanders (75 ovr)- Defensive/Athletic Big Men

Jerry Sloan is still my coach, and is locked up for a while. Just like all the players who I've locked up for a couple years, or are still on rookie contracts.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

It's amazing how much one player's injury can affect how your team plays. It's also amazing how many bad calls your team can endure, but then have to live with the fact that the referee didn't make up ANY of the terrible calls in our favor! There were countless times where there was no way it could be a shooting foul, but the referee still called a foul on one of my players.

Larry Bird picked up 2 quick fouls early in the 1st quarter. He saw bench time for the rest of the 1st and almost half of the 2nd quarter. Everyone thought big things would happen once Larry Bird returned out onto the court. Instead, Larry went on a cold streak picking up only 4 points in the first half. We ended up getting outscored 42-35 in the 1st half of action.

The team came out strong in the 3rd quarter, but we still got outscored 27-24. Larry Bird exploded in the 2nd half picking up 30 points and carrying his team on his back. Unfortunetly, his effort alone wasn't enough to stop Toronto from taking this game away. Despite Bird's 34 points, 10 rebounds, steal, and block, the Raptors were able to capture a 94-88 victory in Memphis.

"I feel like it's my fault", said Bird after the game. "I let down my team when I picked up those fouls in the first quarter."

Toronto's PF, Jay Vincent, was injured in this game. He left the game with a severe ankle sprain that will put him out of action for 2-4 weeks.

Now, the bad thing about this loss is that Memphis doesn't get any type of break other than the rest they'll have on their way to Charlotte. To make matters worse, the Grizzlies now get to face a GREAT PG in Magic Johnson.

The Grizzlies have signed a free agent point guard, Steve Colter. While his overall rating is better than Johnny Moore's current "injured rating", Johnny Moore will still start the game against the Bobcats.

The wolves are my secondary team to the celtics and I use them also for association. I traded Wesley because in his profile it said he's definetly becoming a free agent when his contract was up. even though hes my favorite player on the team, i had to trade him because i dont want to get nothing for losing him.

year one i had the fifth pick even though i shouldve gotten the second or first, getting Jonas Val. Hes who i wanted anyway second to Knight. Picked up Farried in the second (steal), and Malcolm Lee. My roster in year two is

                          Louis Williams/ Luke
                          JR Smith/ Evan Turner
                          Beasley/ Webster
                          Love/ Ant Randolph
                          Jonas/ Deandre Jordan

fired Rambis' dumb self, got Larry Brown. Also fired bickerstaff i think it was, and got Stephen Silas.

and my records pretty positive going on about two months of games. Sixth or seventh in the west right now. Pretty happy about it since last year we were the 2nd worst team record wise. JR, Beasley, and Love do most of the scoring. Jonas is averaging 12 and 8. While i do like Louis, I really would like a pure point guard hopefully in this draft. Farried and Lee are both in the D League. Farrieds averaging 12 points, 16 rebs, 1 steal, 1 block. Pretty solid if u ask me lol. Hopefully we can make the playoffs this year even though most likely we will begin to lose later on like always haha. turners only averaging 10 and 3 with like 24 mpg, but we are winning games and thats all i care about.

Havent been here in awhile but started up nba 2k11 again. Dled the updated rosters for 2k12 and decided to play the rockets. After yao retires.

Saw a thread about this trade and it intrigued me, so i decided to make a block buster trade right away 3 team trade.

                            atl rockets 76ers

                            Hawks get
                            Luis Scola,

                            2 2nd round picks 76ers

                            76ers get
                            Kevin Martin
                            Jeff Teague
                            Rockets 1st round pick

                            Rockets get
                            Josh Smith
                            Andre iguodala

With this trade everyone wins, Hawks get rid of josh smith for luis scola whos a defensive minded beast and can add some depth to the front court.
While losing a young pg in teague they gain a scorer mentality pg in louis williams. Plus the 2nd round picks that come with it.

76ers have been trying to get rid of iguodala and tryign to increase jrue holidays mins and improvement.
They do so by getting an instant scorer in kevin martin and another young pg to back up holiday. Plus a 1st rounder.

Rockets benifit from this because they get a better scorer in martin and another big man 4 who can fill the gap that yao left.

I made a 2nd trade as well. Since rockets have no real star center i figured id make a move and since i acquired Josh smith i know have a log jam at the 4 with 5players i decided to make a trade with the pacers.

                              Pacers gets
                              Chuck Hayes
                              Marcus Morris
                              Jordan Hill
                              2nd round pick

                              Rockets gets

                              Roy Hibbert

Even though the pacers do get smaller by doing this trade, i think theyll do this because Hibbert tends to get injured here and there. Pacers bench get a lot stronger and younger with Marcus Morris (4/5) and Prospect Jordan Hill. They also get defensive specialist chuck hayes.

Now my lineup looks like this.

Pg - Kyle Lowry, Johnny Flynn, Goran Dragic
Sg - Andre Iguodala, Courtney Lee
Sf - Terrence Williams, Chase budinger

i did this drastic changes to the staff and giving newly staff contracts because there cheap and in time they will either grow into a good staff or bad one while only asking there starting contract price. Gives me staff budget eventually in the future to hire a better coach than rick adelman and a better assitant coach eventually other than max wells.
