    Re: NBA 2K11 Patch Suggestions

Fouls really need to be tweaked. It is almost impossible to get a charge in this game as well as get a foul on a mid to long range jumper. Game is pretty amazing but this needs to be touch upon. I just played 2k10 to compare and that game the fouls are pretty realistic. I could not believe how many reachins i saw in 1 game.

      Re: NBA 2K11 Patch Suggestions

      Brilliant game.

Here are a few things I've noticed as a strictly offline association player (no order, as I remember them):

      - Coaches who retire are assigned random names (i.e. Phil Jackson become Dave Gentry) yet they seem to keep the coaches philosophy, playbooks and their attributes are reset but ascend to the same heights in a matter of a few years. Worst of all, they look like the retired coaches and are announced as such.

      - Set plays designed to have the two guard run off screens and spot up on the wings are seriously disrupted by the 1-3-1 zone. The computer seems to have particular trouble making good passes against the 1-3-1. It's to the point that I can't use the 1-3-1 because it is essentially cheating. My computer teammates can steal the ball almost at will.

      - The halftime player/team spotlights are biased toward NBA players (real, current NBA players) as they hardly (I think I've seen it once in about 100 games) spotlight a computer generated draftee.

      - The potential ratings in the game are insane (I lowered the entire league by 10). In five years, every team is stocked with C or greater talent from top to bottom.

      - The computer has no ability to handle team chemistry. Rookies shouldn't demand immediate playing time. The rookies that enter the league (picked at 10+) wreak havoc on the team chemistry. Player personality needs to be toned down slightly. The bar should move slower. A free agent who signs for a certain role, should not be upset when used in that role. etc.

      - I drafted a man named Rodman (of course I saw the rebou nd ratings, etc.) and the announcers in the game call him Dennis and not Preston Rodman. I don't really care about that, but if the guy actually is Dennis Rodman in a mask, it ruins the gamble of the draft-- i.e. guess what I'm doing when I see a Jordan.

      - Reds in the game are too pink.

      - Long socks problem, which I think has been covered

      - No 20 second option on timeouts

      - CPU substitution patterns are odd occasionally (offense/defense in a 30 point game?). Brilliant occasionally.

      - CPU calls timeouts just a tad too often.

      - Not sure why computer generated names cannot be announced (first and last) by Clark and Kevin, and the halftime guy if they are generated by the, you know, computer.

      - Would be nice if the Player of the Game sequence occasionally showed the number of rebounds and the player making said rebounds.

      - It seems like the computer rarely (if ever) plays zone-- see Mike D'Antoni, Alvin Gentry, etc. for real NBA coaches who do occasionally.

      - Have never seen a charging foul (slider at 95).

      - I think Evan Turner's contract needs to be fixed, he should have a two year team option.

      - The computer offers two second round picks for a first (usually next year's) way too often. Sure there are success stories Mbah a Moute, etc. But 2nd rd picks are largely deemed worthless.

      - I receive trade offers and then accepting am informed that a player will not waive their no trade clause. Shouldn't the computer GM know this?

      - Contracts for players who are free agents once the season starts seem too high. A rookie, or a 2nd year player with a 62 rating (sure his potential is B+) should not ask for 5 mil.

      - Too many good players remain unsigned once the season starts. A guy with a 80+ rating and B+ potential should not be a free agent after the season starts.

      - I use Philly, have been a winner most seasons (probably in season 7 or so) and yet have not had a single draft pick elect to resign. I have paid attention to chemistry, minutes etc. Essentially, these are happy players walking away from a winning team that can offer them more money than anyone else. (This may be related to the RFA/qualifying offer problem mentioned below).

      - You can continue to scout draftees into the playoffs (not sure if that was intentional or not) but if your scouts don't complete the reports when the Finals end, you get stuck in some strange limbo when you have to hit start repeatedly (usually 10+ times) to advance past the postseason into the offseason.

      - I had an injury occur during training camp (specifically once camp was completed and I tried to advance past period, a pop up showed up informing me of the injury) and could not advance into the preseason no matter what I did. I lost that Association.

      - The ref holding the ball before and between free throws takes too long. I like the routines, but the ref will occasionally take too long regardless.

      - A lot of the computer generated players have the same jump shot, etc. They do not seem to draw from the whole pool of options, but a limited set.

      - Potential rating seems to influence trade value and contract demands too heavily. I like the idea, but it might be overdone.

      - Scouting and drafting may be a little too easy. With good scouts and the right approach, it's almost impossible to miss. Last year you could pick a high-ceiling (say B potential) center at 10+ and he might be rated 55. That seemed more realistic. Too many large studs in the late 1st, early 2nd. Too many good players available in the draft in general.

      - Still not sure why assistant coaches can't be promoted and why both coach and assistant coach hirings don't draw from the same pool of candidates.

      - The ratings last year were a little better. These ratings are inflated. The game plays so well, I dare not touch them though.

      - I guess memory issues prevent you from putting the computer generated faces in the pregame, post-quarter etc. (?)

      - The announcers are better this year at recognizing the date and not making comments that refer to 2009, but they still do. ("This team knocked them out of the playoffs last year"-- if last year was 7 years ago, yes).

I don't think make qualifying offers is functioning properly. After I sign my draftees, it automatically simulates past qualifying to sign free agents. The only way I have been able to make a qualifying offer is by selecting that before I sign my draftees, usually resulting in them cutting my draftees.

The medium range and three point shooting fouls are somewhat rare in the nba, but they happen more than they happen in 2k11 with the slider at 95.

A mass edit (the entire league, an entire team, etc.) attribute feature would be spectacular.

Strange depth of field/anti-aliasing issues. Seems to happen on people with longer hair most obviously.

Just a little info (for tuning purposes, if possible) :
for the 2006-2007 NBA season (per 82games.com):
22% of all shots attempted are 3 pointers
43% of all shots attempted are 2pt jump shots
34% of all shots attempted are inside shots

      Last year per Hoopdata.com:

      NBA teams shot:

      61% at the rim
      44% at < 10 ft
      39.8% at 10-15 ft
      39.6% at 16-23 ft
      35.5% at 3pt+

Anyway, that's all I can remember now. PS3.

      Thanks. Great game.

        Re: NBA 2K11 Patch Suggestions

        - Fix role management by the AI. This hurts the AI because it will still trade for good players but once they are on the team, the new player will get mad because the team already has a 6th man. The AI does not do a good job at adjusting roles. It is also limited because it cannot designate more than one 6th man unlike the human player can.
Why is Jason Terry (78) a role player on the 76ers but Craig Brackins (64) is the 6th man?

An AI team will get a beneficial trade from a fire sale team but the AI lacks the role and minutes management intelligence to keep the team happy. The good trade turns out to be a curse instead because it tanks chemistry. In addition, it doesn't help that players get upset way too easily.

Another example is Rockets picking up Jason Kidd. Now the AI did do a good job and cleared out a logjam by getting rid of Lowry (Courtney Lee was in the trade for Kidd). However, they set Jason Kidd as a role player and out of all people, a 65 rated C was the 6th man.
Move over to the Hornets and they picked up Elton Brand and Grant Hill for Peja, Belinelli, Willie Green. Definitely made their team stronger but guess what: Elton Brand (OVR 76) made David West (OVR 75) a role player and he demanded a trade. Grant Hill as a OVR 77 and then also got set to role player. Demands a trade. Guess who is the 6th man: a OVR 66 PG/SG. By the end of the season, their chemistry was 0% and they missed the playoffs.

Please implement the bumping back into the game. I shouldn't be able to get to the basket 7 out of 10 times using Eddie House with Gary Payton (IN HIS PRIME!!!) guarding me. This is EXTREMELY frustrating.

Also, if you use the d-pad to call a play, you can't close it using the same d-pad button. Instead, you have to call a play. (PS3)

And the option to call a 20-second timeout isn't visible. (PS3)

              CHARGES!!!

The utter lack of charging realism really takes you out of the games immersion.

the perfect example of this is trying to stop a player in transition.
You get into position to take the charge [or even blocking foul if you are not set] and what happens.
A bizarre animation where the defender 'slides" out of the way and the offensive player gets an easy layin.

              ridiculous.

charge gameplay felt perfect in 2k10.
              bring back charges. please.

rebounding and vertical. please, do not let guys like yao ming be able to touch the TOP of the backboard, please. also boxing out is not an issue in this game, it's just who's taller will get the ball. very frustrating

Not sure if posted already but please remove the cAmera flashing during a layup and dunk. Not only is it unrealistic, but it gives away the next action the offensive player will make.

Patch in the Amway Center for the Magic. I know this is probably a unprobable request, but it really sucks playing on the right court in the old Amway Arena(atleast they got the correct placement of the benches this year). Especially after going to a few games in person to the new arena and noticing how insanely nice it is, it really hurts the real-to-life basketball sim experience.

Please adjust the substitution patterns. When subs are set to rotation, subs come in FAR too quickly. Like 3 minutes will pass and subs are already coming in. I have not tested setting it to fatigue yet, but rotation should be adjusted.

Also, please have players who are listed at 2 positions initially sub at their primary position. For example, CJ Watson is listed at PG/SG and often times he is the first player off the bench at his secondary position of SG. It works randomly right now. The only way to have the correct players come in at SG on their lineup is to take away Watson's secondary position altogether. If it were set so that guys will sub in at their primary position first, we could more accurately and predictable arrange rotations.
i agree with this. the auto substitution pattern doesn't recognize the secondary position. this screws up the rotations.

i'm surprised not a lot of people noticed this.

-tone down full court pass accuracy! way too many peyton mannings in this game.

-make intense d actually responsive to what you're doing.

                              @CobbMarley Late November/Early December.

So we're looking like end of this month, beginning of next, for the patch to come out.
