Re: How do you play your 82 game association??

I choose my "favorite team of the year" for an 82 game season. This year it's the Timberwolves. 12 minute quarters, control all 30 team transactions. I play as they play (not at the same time), usually my games take place in my quiet home at around 1:00am with no distractions. It makes for a Long season but definitely worth it. Simming just doesn't do it for me.

I also play a 29 game season and control 6 teams (3 from East and 3 from the West). Needless to say I never seem to be able to finish it (usually going well until the new MLB The Show comes out and I lose interest in NBA2K).

i play 82 games i think it makes it more satisfying to make it to the playoffs and means postseason becomes so much more important cause its ages til u get another chance to do it all.

but i play 5 minutes quarters. i know people hate it but i love it. It means i can play a whole game and not feel like simming the next 10. that way, i can play all 82 games, not sim ever so feel a sense of achievement in having good record, and also i can go a few seasons in. only reason ive had to stop in the past is because trade logic makes my team 10x stronger than anyone elses lol. this year shouldnt be as much of an issue

I like the play one a week option. I would like to be able to play all 82 but I'm not that hardcore. I will probably play the first 10 just to 'setup' the season.

Big matchups, rough road games. Less games early in season, and more after the AS break

Oh snap, I love the idea of doing 82 games but picking out the 30 or so you want to play the most. I used to just do 29...but now I'm leaning toward this more so.

Also, I like the idea of "setting up the season" by playing the first 6-7 games. Then doing key matchups, rivalries, and playing against teams with rosters I want to check out.

Sounds good - thanks for the ideas guys
You shouldn't worry about what others think of you, because if you knew how little they did, you would be insulted.

I get 2k11 tomorrow finally and am going to run with 12 min qtrs, sim/allstar, all 82 games in the season.

Playing every game, although it takes a while, with real stats is the only way I truly feel satisfied in sports games. I feel like it should be hard as hell, and long as hell to earn a championship.

I'm going to be doing AllStar/Sim/12mins, 82 games with me playing 50% and simming the other 50%.

Although I'm also tempted to do a 29 game season with a fantasy draft on the side, and play every single game. It'd be a fun alternative.

                    I was playing all 82 / 12 min.
After 8 games I discovered the "no-intentional-foul-glich" and now the game is on the shelf!

What glitch is this? I have no problem committing intentional fouls.

82 game schedule, 12 min quarters. I'm playing most of my away games (I still think the sim favors the home team TOO much, and I like silencing a crowd) and rival and big home games. Sim the rest.

If you go in to scrimmage mode in Association there will be no intentional fouls at the end of the games.
If you save the association after the scrimmage that is, so be careful.

And do not make weekly practices because all your players will have trade value of one star.

                          Good luck!

I always play just about all the games and I even plan on playing some Dleague games as well. Back in 2k8 college hoops i would play summer league games as well as all my team games. I really mis college hoops wish 2k would bring it back.

control all 30 teams, pick one (bobcats this year)...correct each teams rotations to the real ones (watching real box scores), and make real life trades when they happen.
So my association reflects almost exacly the real nba.
Kinda geeky but i want a basketball simulation and it couldn't be much simulation than that...oh, and thank to pc roster editors i will be able to create d-leaguers and new signings that are not in the game with association in progress
