Re: How do you play your 82 game association??

I do a crap load of simulating. Most of the time I won't even play my first game until I have a team that I'm really satisfied with. A lot of times that isn't until 5 or 6 years in. I also only keep a association mode going for about 3 weeks then I start another one. May sound stupid to some but hey, everybody is different.

        VERY true

I play 9 min quarters with sliders adjusted so i get realistic stats (except for Min/game - im always last) I always get scores rangeing from 80 to 95 points with around .40 to 48% FG and around 30 to 40 Rebounds.
I really like to be involved in every aspect of the season

          I second this.

I got for a slightly different approach when playing my association. I play one weeks games, then sim the next and then play the next week...yeah you get the picture! Allows me to play a nice amount of games and shift through a season at a decent pace, as of now I started my Kings association on Sunday and i've managed to reach xmas week

Yeah I'm thinking about lowering the minutes per quarter because I get really high scores due to the fact that computer always shoots pretty early in the shot clock.

I usually play about one game every week or two of my season. There's no real science to it though. Sometimes I play a couple games a week. It usually comes out to around 40 games played.

I'm playing 10min quarters. Will play the first month of the season then only play out of conference games until the last month which I will play every game if I'm in the playoff race.

I set my Association settings to 58 game season and 9 minute quarters [12 min quarters will have too unrealistic stats like 140 pts], play every game and playoffs. I hate simulating because i try to win every darn trophy, MVP, DPY, ROY, NBA 1st team etc. Sometimes i lose games because i try to get my point guard like 15-20 assists/game. But as long as i make the playoffs i'm in good position.

I do get through a bunch more seasons this way and part of the fun for me is seeing the team change and the offseason stuff.
That's a pretty good idea! The bolded statement however is def not true, in fact it's quite opposite in 2k11. They come in wayyyy too high! I actually edited my draft class, lowering all attributes by 7 points, and lowered off/def awareness and potential by 10points. My draft class I have now, the highest rated guy is a 73ovr. By the time he finishes progressing he will be in the mid 80s.

In fact, I simmed 5years ahead, and he was I believe a 85, or so. So you can easily build thru the draft. If I didn't edit, that guy was a 82ovr to start with! Would've been in the high 90s within 5years! Along with other rookies, which causes ur "named" players to sit in FAs cuz the teams have young stud sitting in their roster. Editing ur draft class IMO is a MUST to get a realistic experience in association mode, especially if ur in it for the long haul.

Not sure about that...I play @ Charlotte last night, and they waited forever alot of times! Final score was like 103-95(FTs at the end upped their score a little however.)

Re: How do you play your 82 game association??

Right now I'm wondering how I'm gonna do it. I'm a stathead, so I wanna do all 82 game schedule with 12 minute quarters, but I think I'll sim 50% of my season, and playing the other 50%.

The only thing I'm worried about is there being like a huge disparity in who produces in simmed games vs games I play. Like, in games I play, I basically love dishing the ball to my C or PF and driving it to the basket all the time. I'm not really a FG shooter. So games I play will be big in C and PF paint points. But I'm wondering, since I play such a specific style, games I sim might be big in FG and shooters, looking completely different than games I play. I feel like that'd mess up stats and averages big time, having games I play being so different compared to games I sim.

Has anyone seen anything like this happen to them?

Also the only thing stopping me from starting is still trying to find the perfect difficulty and slider set. I've mostly been playing on Pro/Default, but I'm wondering on going either AllStar/Default or Pro/Sim. Anyone have a preference?

I have some pretty good sliders that were based off of pro/sim, with easier shooting sliders(like default), but sim style on alot of other things. I can PM them to u if you'd like.

Can't you decide how you want ur team to play during simmed games? It seems like you can but not quite sure about it. I play with T-Wolves, so simed games, Love and Beasley(off the bench) get their points and boards still but they are really good players so ay depend on ur team and their talent level.

I think I have figured out whats works best for me now, playing 82 game season, but only play 1 game a week in the season, I ussualy pick the game against a team I think it might be fun to play against, then when it comes to the playoffs I do 3 game series and play every game in the playoffs. Its the only way I can get a couple years in, playing 82 games with the same team gets soooo boring.

                            Attempting to play all 82.

Although if this goes anything like my efforts to play all 162 in The Show, I'll get bored 70 in and restart.

In the past, I've really wanted to see how my team develops, so I end up simming the majority of the season... Here's what I'd do:

sim till January 1st, play the next game.
sim till all-star break, play first interesting game after all-star break.
sim till near end of season and play the most interesting game within the last two weeks.

all-in-all, I play 3 games a year. This way, my stats are a result as to how I've built the team and now influenced (as much) by my skill (or lack thereof) at the game. This allows me to chew through the careers of my players and really see how the league develops on down the road. Sometimes I'll play a few more games. Sometimes I won't. I never, ever play a playoff game, however.

I don't want to sim any games and don't think 82 games is necessary.
