Yes there are opinion requests such as "fix the passing it's too hard" while others think it's still too easy.

      But some bugs are absolute:

      - In association and season some rounds in which multiple teams or even all teams draft the same player.
      - Players with 6 fouls (who should foul out) not leaving the game.
      - HCA so extreme that in the same playoff series team A blows out team B by 30+ two games at home, and then team B blows out team A by 30+ two games at home.
      - Without editing draft classes few trades (2-3) and no FA signings happen after year 1 of an association. 90+ rated players sit in the FA pool.

As for the roster fix, the touches ratings for many players are still unbalanced. The Bulls, for example, has Boozer an 86 and Rose around 50. Sim or in played games (CPU Bulls) Boozer scores 30+ PPG, while Rose is lucky to reach 10.

Lowering Boozer's touches and raising Rose's, or at least in played games lowering Boozer's shot tendency balances the team to the point Rose scores more like Rose.

It's great that there are sites like this on which people can report issues. It's great that devs listen.
That's the issue right there fcab..Who is right in determining what needs to be fixed? Who should they listen to in regards to patching? IMO the devs should ask this question: Does this particular fix coincide with our original vision we had for this title? If they find themselves saying no with a change, they will be hurting their title in the long run by bending to complainers on certain issues. People need to learn to adjust to change rather than something always needing to be adjusted based on individuals. We have become very spoiled in "the age of the patch."

Of course some complaints are justified and legit: franchise freezing, association issues, illogical basketball plays being too successful(Full Court Bombs, Spin Dunks too easy, etc). I don't think people have issues with voicing these kind of concerns. The problems come when you deal with subjective issues like passing, isomotion/shot success, etc. These are either issues or non issues based on each person. Some people don't have issues and others do. This is where things get difficult for the devs. How they approach these issues will possibly alienate another segment of their fanbase. These situations are impossible for them to come out pleasing everyone on. I do not want their jobs.

I just think we as consumers really need to be careful about what we claim are issues/broken. In other words take more of a "look in the mirror" approach to our issues to see if we can change something about what we are doing in order to avoid the perceived problem.

EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

A couple tweeks and it's fixed, but you can't use custom sliders in some of the game modes...

I don't know if it's different now with the new roster, but I have to seriously questions anyone's observational skills when they say there were getting realistic stats with sim sliders out of the box...

no, no and no, i m on my tenth game in my season with the bucks i play on sim pro with no sliders change and clutch factor off and i shoot 35% from the three point line, just pick the right spot and moment.
im urrently 6th in the leque with a 44% shooting percentage.
the shooting percentage out of the box is dead on tired of listening those complaints about three point %, my last game against the spurs i shot 9/19 from the 3 point line.
by the way great thread and post i can t agree more

This is a great post b/c, it's well written, informative and in many ways, and applies to the majority of sports titles and the responses they get in the first few days / weeks...

People complain, the devs patch and then things often get (even further) off track, because they get the wrong immpression from the "wrong" posters...

I wish OS would strike a deal with the various devs to only take into account the concerns of a panel of "experts" for each title that are appointed to do so...

          Cuts out the clatter...

          Anyway, great post!

Re: Has or will Operation Sports "ruin" NBA2K11?

I am scared to death to do anything to this game as far as getting the Roster update or any patch in the future.

I have not stopped playing this game since it's release. I love it they way it is. Yeah there may be bugs in association mode and HCA in the playoffs but the game plays amazing.

My fear is though a patch will change the gameplay...I don't want that.

Like the good old days of previous game systems I will deal with the hand I have been dealt.

No patches for me. This is the game and how it was released and this is the version I will play for now and maybe forever.

Unless I see overwhelming feedback that the first patch is an improvement and does not dumb down the game I will consider it......maybe.

            I love this game.

            Great post!!!!

Re: Has or will Operation Sports "ruin" NBA2K11?

What an excellent, well thought out post. I'm really disappointed that 2K decided to make the game play easier with the roster update. But unfortunately it was bound to happen. They always seem to cave when it comes to the difficulty of the game. I don't get it though, why can't people just adjust the sliders or learn how to play the game correctly? 2K could even print suggested difficulty or slider combinations that would address the passing and difficulty concerns. Or post sliders sets on 2K share that address different areas of difficulty.

I don't know what we can do to prevent this from happening in the future. I posted on both sites on how the game play should not be changed under any circumstances. I thought about starting a petition, but I have no idea if that would have worked. But that's all water under the bridge now.

I love the difficulty of the game out of the box. I love the fact that I can't throw haphazard passes anymore. I love the fact that the defenders cut off the lanes and prevent me from getting to the paint. For the first time in many, many years of playing 2K I actually have a losing record in my Association. I'm 7-12 with the Indiana Pacers and I couldn't be happier. It makes me want to get better. It makes me go to practice gym and learn the ISO moves and the plays.

Where is the challenge of playing an 82 game season and only losing 3-4 games, on even the highest difficulty? Where is the excitement in playing games and knowing before the game even starts that there is no way in h** that you can lose? How realistic is it to go up against teams like the Heat, Lakers, and Celtics and blow them out by 30 points?

For me, the game play was perfect just the way it was. I struggled. I gave my games my every effort and often lost by 1 to 2 points. But I'm not mad. The CPU actually out played me and I couldn't ask for a better challenge.

So I'm torn now. Do I download this new roster set or future patches and potentially go back to the old days where I can't be beaten? Or do I just cut myself off from any further online activity?

People seem to want simulation yet complain if they lose. There is no simulation in winning almost every game. Every game lost should be a learning experience, a way to get better. It really makes me sad that people just weren't up for the challenge.

I see the points that the OP is trying to make but at the same time I hope that the people who are saying this game is "Perfect" as is don't stunt the growth of 2k basketball. Overly complaining or praising any game can both have negative effects in my opinion. Someone mentioned the wall that stops you from going around your man no matter who you control, I for one don't like that and don't think that it's realistic at all. Not every flaw discussed regarding 2k is complaining. A lot of it is constructive criticism with hopes of making the game better. I would hate for 2k to say oh well the game is perfect, let's leave it as is, because it's not.

Cut yourself off. I will no doubt go that route....non game play bugs be dammed. Again unless I see such an overwhelming positive response to a patch.

Remember not so long ago when you had no choice? The game plays amazing out of the box.

Why would you want to change the gameplay if you know already a simple roster update supposedly did so.

Has 2K confirmed any game tuning that was intended with the roster update or is this just rumor and placebo?

Again...cut yourself off if you love the game the way it is.

Is it possible that 2k has a tuning pack set into this game that we were not told about? Now i have not seen a difference in play but I have not played all that much the last few days. I do know that a lot more people are talking about this change than not so I am not going to say that there was not a change even if I have not.

Great Post man, really!!!! I have to say I've been playing the original incarnation of the game since release since my 360 isn't hooked up to the internet at the moment. I've been loving every minute of it.

It's sad to read all the complaining and it does put a damper on the game. I've been avoiding most threads for that very reason. I feel bad for the developers because I bet most knowledgeable basketball gamers are sitting quietly enjoying the hell out of the game while the majority of the clueless 14 year old's sit on their computers complaining.

You know up until 2 years ago I did not even know you could download rosters let alone know of a site on the internet tofind out about bugs and glitches. If this was still the case this year I would be deep into a franchise by now loving the hell out of this game thinking how perfect this game is,lol. But now with the internet and what i know I cant bring myself to start a franchise. Sometimes not knowing I think might be the best way to enjoy games and probably life in general.
