A perfect release shouldn't always be a basket. If that were the case, then there is absolutely no point in ratings and you no longer have a "sim" basketball game.

Re: Am I the only one that just DOESN'T like the sim game style?
the truth is people like the idea of sim but not the consequences, if you watch a basketball game you will see alot of wide open shots missed most teams shot in the mid 40 percentage a game, it sucks but it realistic you have to option to play the game like you want I don't see the need to complain over maters under your control.Last edited by coolcras7; 10-19-2010, 04:44 PM.PSN=Coolcas7Comment

Re: Am I the only one that just DOESN'T like the sim game style?
No. I have shot stick.
And I don't expect EVERY shot to go in. But Good God, when ALL of the players on my team make one shot out of probably SIX attempts on WIDE OPEN ASSISTS, it's seriously frustrating.
I have to try and save the day with my shooting EVERY game.-elcamero.Comment

Re: Am I the only one that just DOESN'T like the sim game style?
This is all I've been trying to say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You people claim you want a simulation but then complain when its not playing like a video game. WHICH IS IT??????
NOBODY HITS EVERY WIDE OPEN LOOK IN THE NBA!!!!!!!!! PERIOD!!!!!!!!
Not MJ
Not Kobe
Not Reggie
Not Ray Ray
Nobody.
Players have blown uncontested dunks and layups - it happens. Great shooters have missed open 3 point shots. It happens. Please stop playing 2 Quick Games and stating these are season totals. Not one person is saying that they have played an 82 games Association and not gotten their numbers. Why? B/C you're all too busy on OS writing threads on the same issue.
And it's been said time and time again - the "sim" (God, I love you so please abolish the word simulation from the English language for me) setting is for longer games. The lead designer plays on 12 minute quarters. THAT'S what that setting is built for.
Why do topics like these keep coming up???????????
SET THE GAME THE WAY YOU LIKE IT - WHY PLAY ON A SETTING YOU DO NOT LIKE AND THEN COMPLAIN ABOUT IT?????????
For the love of all things precious - please.
Stop.Comment

Re: Am I the only one that just DOESN'T like the sim game style?
Agreed. I play on Superstar/Sim and most of my points also come from midrange. You don't necessarily have to have a perfect release though...the better the shooter the more forgiving. Not sure why you have trouble getting mid range's to go in... I feel like this year's game puts more of an emphasis on jump shooting than any previous year. I play All-Star/Sim settings and I'd say a majority of my points come from mid range... You just need to work the ball around to get a good look or if you ARE going to try and go one-on-one, you HAVE to get a perfect release for it to go inComment

Re: Am I the only one that just DOESN'T like the sim game style?
Just depends on my mood. I dig more Sim style in my Association, but other times (Jordan Challenges) I ratchet down the difficulty and play more of an Arcade style fun game (lots of steals and dunks).
I'm not married to Sim, but I like it sometimes.Comment

Re: Am I the only one that just DOESN'T like the sim game style?
I play on sim as well, and on shot stick release, and can't get perfect releases to go down. I mean like I have games shooting 30%.... FOR BOTH TEAMS. This isn't a "oh you suck at the game" type post, it's just the way my games have been going, it's brutal.
It's frustrating too now that basketball season is starting up and I watch the Knicks in preseason score 80+ in a game on MAINLY jumpshots and then I play my Knicks association and can't catch a break.
It's not so cut and dry like people make it seem, where you either suck at the game or you get great results. Maybe sim doesn't actually reflect real results?Comment

Re: Am I the only one that just DOESN'T like the sim game style?
Yeah its a shame they scaled the difficulty in My Player mode by forcing you to avoid your teammates rather than forcing you to use your teammates.I agree, I like a lot of what "sim" setup does EXCEPT punishing open shots. I tried every difficulty/style combination in My Player mode, and pro default was the only one where my teammates (great shooters, all stars) could sometimes make a wide open jumper. pro/sim, they immediately cannot hit any jumper no matter how wide open so I finally caved in. I do not want my games to be all about getting to the rim or passing it inside always for assists. I don't know how people are playing on those other difficulties in this mode, your teammates turn useless. so i just limit my own abilities so i do not get too good for pro default, i just wish they went to the post more like sim does.
I started My Player on Default Superstar. What a friggin nightmare. Switched to Superstar Sim. better. realized my teammates were moving better but not making a single shot and after a few games of nothing but isolations moved it to allstar sim...and...well im on default pro now doing what you were and limiting my offense and using my team more to create an artificial challenge. whatever.
To be honest its my impression that most of the sim ballers don't really give a rats *** about My Player mode.(could be wrong)Comment

Re: Am I the only one that just DOESN'T like the sim game style?
I'm loving the sim game play of 2K11. It's a whole new game and you have to get rid of all the bad habits you developed playing the earlier versions of this game. Finally, a mid-range game. No more scoring almost all my points in the paint. I love how this has finally opened up and is effective.
On missing open shots, are you guys taking into account the consistency rating of the player and whether they are hot or cold? I have to admit that I hate seeing my players miss wide-open 3 point shots beyond the arc, or break ankles with a few ISO moves and get off a completely uncontested mid-range shot. But if you factor in the number of shots the player may have missed previous to that wide open jumper, you can't be mad if they miss. And it's often brought up in these forums that if you watch a real NBA game, players will miss wide-open jumpers. So it's not unrealistic for your player to miss those wide-open jumpers.
And for those that don't like sim, why aren't you putting the game on casual? I played that style to test it out and it was almost like NBA 2K10. So the game can be customized for any gamer to suit your skills.
What I'm thrilled about is with my Pacers, this game has been such a challenge (playing every game and not simming), it's doubtful that I'm even going to make it to the playoffs this year. That has never happened in any version of NBA 2K to date. This is what sim is all about. It's not about winning every game but 3 or 4 and sweeping every team in the playoffs. I've been there and it tired after a few seasons. This is the first year that this game actually seems real to me. I have to fight to win. I can keep the games close, but I'm losing to the good team. The Heat beat me last night by 8. I would expect that. When I played the new-look in NBA 2K10, I blew them out by 20.
All this gives me a chance to build my Association over the years and make it better. Bring in the missing pieces, build a stronger team, and win more games. This is how Association mode should be!Comment

Re: Am I the only one that just DOESN'T like the sim game style?
After your great initial post you're starting to become semi-ridiculous. No one is really asking for any of the things you posted here. No one wants open shots to go in 100% of the time ect. As was said in a previous post, on sim settings the game should appear as it does in real life. Out of the box this is simply not what we see. This is even more the case when you get to higher difficulties. In real life the games get more difficult in the playoffs because guys care more and become more intense and focused. In this game, games get harder because your teammates become dumb as rocks and the cpu players get boosts like the ability to defy gravity. Gamers should not have to make changes and essentially "fix" aspects of a game they paid for. We're not beta testers. People are bringing some legitimate complaints to the table here, there have been some good threads. Its a shame their being brushed aside with the frivolous complaints by some posters here. This is a very good game but it has some issues. And these issues have nothing to do with "playing smarter" or "hitting up practice mode".This is all I've been trying to say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Am I the only one that just DOESN'T like the sim game style?
But WHAT are you looking for? What you guys are saying is just double talk. And these issues have nothing to do with "playing smarter" or "hitting up practice mode".
What is "real life"?
That's my question. You keep saying real life but what are you looking for - a replay of every possession from the 2010 season? I mean in "real life" I have a nice 15-20ft jumper. That doesn't mean I hit them all the time. Some nights I'm on and some I'm off. You guys keep saying the "sim" setting isn't accurate - well then news flash - change the settings. You say you shouldn't have to "fix the game" but you're not. Difficulty is what it says - difficulty. It's like on Halo. When you play on Heroic, the enemies take less damage than on Legendary.
Why can't you see that in this game and in every single sports game that's ever been released that difficulty simply means intensity of challenge - not degree of realism.
What you guys want will never be and THAT'S why your threads are ridiculous and redundant.
EVERY YEAR you will feel this way. I don't see why you don't get that.
I mean look at the title of this thread! It's asking for an opinion!
If you don't like simulation sliders - then why do you keep playing on them and complaining about it? Other people DO like them and b/c you can't deal with it and we tell you to practice, you don't like that.
Which leads back to the ego thing.
You sent your money and I spent mine so as much as you DON'T like Sim, I do.
And as I said in the first "post" that you referenced, I am simply asking people to play the game the way they want to - you reference it and say its great yet post a comment that represents EXACTLY what I'm talking about on this site.
How does that make any sense?Comment
