A great move is the up and under after the step through move(or facing the basket). Very effective-almost cheese and can get anyone in the air.Comment

A move I found that is effective and very simple to do is a quick cross when running down the court. You simply tap LT(360) and flick the left stick to the opposite ball hand. The guy will do a very quick cross and continue his momentum. Basically you hit the trigger and left stick at the same time. This move is deadly for me.METS. NY FOOTBALL GIANTS. PENGUINS. RT/RS plus right stick toward ball handler.
If you're running an association, make sure you haven't played an intrasquad scrimmage...for some reason, this renders both teams unable to committ intentional fouls.
Another move I like, similar to the Up and Under in the post, is backing your guy down, hitting RS/RT for a power move baseline, but letting go of RS/RT, pump faking, getting the guy in the air, and finishing with a nice layup.
The post play also works when you want to spin inside toward the middle...really gets guys in the air.You shouldn't worry about what others think of you, because if you knew how little they did, you would be insulted.

Just found another cool tip...
If you have the ball and are at the end of the quarter (there's less than 24 seconds left in the quarter)...if you call a play, the game will deliberately wait until the clock ticks down to 8-9 seconds to run the play...in an attempt to time it so you don't give the opposition enough time to score...
Very cool. You shouldn't worry about what others think of you, because if you knew how little they did, you would be insulted.

For My Player: Do not mash on the call for pass button. I don't even use it at all to be honest. The only time I've ever felt the need to use it is on inbounds plays if my teammate takes too long to pass. Other than that, stay away from using it.
Also, just stick to the fundamentals. Don't try to be a hero and take every shot or hold on to the ball for half the shot clock trying to break your man down. Keep the ball moving on offense, take what the defense gives you and play to your strengths.
On defense, box out whenever you can and always stick to your man. Don't worry about your teammates assignments and always keep your eye on your check. Another thing on defense is to not be quick on the block button when contesting shots. Wait until the shooter elevates to try to contest, otherwise you're hanging in the air and your man is taking it to the hole for an easy 2 depending on the defensive rotations.
Last My Player tip, LB calls for off ball screens on offense. If you're not a point guard you generally have to free roam around on offense, so using LB to get one of your teammates to set you a screen off the ball can get you good open looks.
I know I have some more tips that I could contribute, especially when it comes to general 5 vs 5 gameplay, but right now my mind is blank so I'll probably have to get on the sticks to refresh my memory.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Re: ***Offical NBA 2k11 Tips Thread***
Does anyone have tips for shot stick timing? Certain players have shots with a really small window for release. Examples are Jose Calderon and Kevin Martin. Their shots are a lot more unforgiving than most players. I've spent time in practice mode getting their timing down, but during games it's still tough to pull off. Calderon shoots a really high % in RL but I find myself avoiding to take shots with him to avoid 1/5 shooting performances. Online with the small window and a bit of delay it's nearly impossible for me.
Is their a trick/tip for these types of releases?Comment

Can someone tell me why my game is stuck on player lock when I never turned it on in the first place? There also doesn't seem to be a way to turn it off...Comment

This happened to me once before. To turn it off, go into controller settings in my controller then change preferred position to none.Comment
