Re: Wow... My Player Mode Is Unplayable
Wow, good call. Right beside 3/4 court sprint lies "NBA 2K11 Overall Rating"
Seriously, average the overalls of all the drafted rookies in 2K11 and I guarantee the mean will fall in the 55-60 range.Comment

Re: Wow... My Player Mode Is Unplayable
Some of you are too focused on the overall rating. If your overall drives you that crazy, just max out O and D Awareness, and your overall will probably go up 15-20 points and you'll be happy.
Like I said early, its a little tough getting started in my player, especially if you're still getting used to the passing system, and your first 10 or 20 games in the NBA you may have issues getting an A+ every game. By the time you get halfway through your first season, you'll be shooting ridiculous percentages, leading the league in every award race, etc etc.Comment

Re: Wow... My Player Mode Is Unplayable
I wouldn't mind starting off in high school with a 20 rating. My Player means absolutely nothing to me if everything comes easy. That's why I didn't enjoy it last year it was way too easy. I like it much better this year.Comment

The game will also penalize you for things that you can't help. I made a 3-pt. SF and was thinking that all I needed to do good (and all I wanted to do) was come off the bench and shoot. But even though the game makes me terrible at defensive abilities they require me to play good defense or my grades drop.Comment

Re: Wow... My Player Mode Is Unplayable
Guys, I gotta say I'm shocked that no one's touched on the real issue of My Player mode. Agreed that it's unrealistic to start as a 45, even though it's easy to get your stats and build up your rating fairly quickly, but that's not what holds this mode back.
The real issue is that you can't freely sim games!! I don't know how this mode was even conceived without adding free simulation. You should be able to sim a season in 5 minutes, just like in association. Sitting through a load screen for 20-30 seconds just to "sim and quit" and receive nothing for it is ludicrous. I understand rewarding the accomplishments of playing games, but there should at least be some kind of system where you receive half a performance boost (in this case, skill points) when you simulate. Does anyone remember the career mode in Fight Night? Not sure if they still do it, but when you performed a drill, you'd get say a 2 point boost in your rating, but when you simulate, you'd only get a 1 point boost. So even if you simulated the drills often, you'd still gradually improve. And with respect to those talking about how the ratings don't matter, they absolutely should! When I started my My Player, I was a 48. I had to sim games because I was playing for about 2 weeks in real time and I wasn't even at the all-star break in my 1st season. So I simulated and essentially shot 33 percent from the field, even though I boosted my ratings as much as I could. The mode is designed to force me to play every game until my offensive ratings are all in the 80's. Doesn't sound like I'm controlling my player. It sounds like I'm spending every night for weeks playing games just for the privelege of sitting through hundreds of loading screens to complete even half my career.
Imagine the My Player mode if you were free to play one game a week or sim to Key Games within seconds or simulate the first 2 years of your career in minutes to gradually improve and then blow up in your 3rd year like young NBA players often do. They stress freedom and total control in terms of the gameplay, but the same needs to be applied to the game modes.
Here's a question, has anyone here ever played a 20-year career in My Player mode? If you like to play each game and feel responsible for every stat, more power to you, but I can't commit 4 hours a night to this mode. With the Jordan Challenge and Association, I'd like to be able to get the full experience of this game before 2k12 comes out.
Please help push this simulation feature and make it known to the creators of this game that until they add this, this mode will never be complete and, while fun as hell, will be borderline unplayable.Comment

My 6'0 PG had a goal of 4 buckets in the paint... due to the bumping, and perhaps size disadvantage, I was unable to penetrate so I had to force shots in the middle, which lead to bad shot selection, blocked shots, etc.
Eventually I got the goal thanks to 2 fast breaks in the 4th quarter, but my teammate grade suffered because of all the other failed attempts.Comment

Re: Wow... My Player Mode Is Unplayable
So I can't complete a career because someone wants to cheese it up online? I don't know much about online play, but can't they put some kind of restrictions on who plays who online? How do you take your My Player online anyway? None of that should get in the way of giving you freedom to play a full career.Comment

Re: Wow... My Player Mode Is Unplayable
I agree but that is why the restriction is there.
I wish they would put some kind of restriction on who plays online, too. Post that in your wishlist.
BTW I always played every fight and every training session in FNR4.Comment

Re: Wow... My Player Mode Is Unplayable
The only reason your player is rated so low is because you start with such low offensive and defensive awareness. If you are worried about your rating throw a bunch of skill points on awareness and you will go up quickly. Im 15 games into the season and I have my player up to 64.Green Bay Packers | Milwaukee Bucks | Milwaukee BrewersComment
