I have the same problem ..... I tried different sledders setting etc... But unfortunately this years game is worse than ever in the series. I'm in association season number 3....and I can't tell u how many times I have seen this **** happen over and over again to the point where u have to settle for the loss and beat them ...or take advantage when they will give u the game....sure u can lose a game! But being rewarded for playing well only happens if the CPU wants to give u that particular game....it's a spoiler and I don't want yo believe in it ....but I can show my mates the moment when a turnover or big foul, missed free throws and comeback is going to happen.you can feel it in the movement and restricting of yr players shot..... It comes with playing and knowing the game too well .....and is prevalent in the playoffs and finals ...almost no consistency. You cld drop 4o and be up 20 and it's not going to happen if they wont give u the game. And that's from a guy who adores the series from the start .....and loves the game ...hopefully they fix it in 2k ...till then I will win the games they give me ....and cross my fingers.

Well I'm speaking strictly about MyPlayer but I can see you play this game enough to see what i'm talking about. It just bothers me sometimes when it feels like the A.I. starts to decide on its own the outcome of a possession, a quarter(the dreaded 3rd...haha) or the whole game but meh, I would'nt wanna go 82-0 either so we gotta lose somehow. =)

Oddly enough, people do it in real life all the time too. They call when their team is going to make a run, X play is the turning point, etc. Guess real life is scripted too.

The "never happens" crew is just ridiculous. You say examples like that, then we watch the game and guys like JJ Barea do things that you sit around and say should never happen.

No no no. Those things are believable if they happen one or two times. It's just that they happen on a consistent basis.
I understand Taj dunking on D. Wade once.
I understand Dirk making a 15-foot high rainbow 3-pointer at the end of the shot clock once.
But when it happens over and over in the same game, it's annoying.

Then your sliders are out of whack or you're playing the CPU above Pro or All-Star.

You can't just make statements like that and act like it's the baseline for this game. It's silly because that's not the case.

Check out our league forum - all the info. is there.

Pro is a more realistic level. All-Star you'll see stuff like what you mentioned happen if your defense isn't great. Make sure you get up right in the guys face with the hands of your defensive players.

It seems like I can only do this while blocking their shots. Is there a way to only put your hands up?

Some people don't know this but you can tap Y in certain spots to do a contest while not leaving your feet. You have to Turbo+Y to contest but feather the stick to the shooter.

The only bad thing about the contest system is if you are nowhere near the shooter and you do turbo+Y they make a ridiculous crazy attempt in the direction of the shooter. But if you are in front of them this works well.

I don't know how "dead" this thread is, but I've recently started playing 2K11 against friends (which is something I've never really done because I hate their play styles), but I do have one friend who plays pretty legit for the most part. He takes about 6 three's per game, which I think is too low for an NBA team, and he generally tries to get every player right underneath the basket to try to use these "exploits" (as we call them), where if you're too far under and shoot, your guy will warp to the front of the rim and shoot an unblockable lay-up. but I can live with that, as our games are usually very close....

until the 4th quarter. he beat me 3 times yesterday, and twice I was up 15 in the 4th. the second time he beat me with a 4th quarter comeback, I ended up shooting 5 for 23 in the 4th, 2-2 from the free throw line, while he shot 18 for 24 in the 4th and 9-9 from free throws. I shot 2 for 15 in the paint and my best player for the game (Zach Randolph) who was 12 for 18 going into the quarter, shot 0-7 in the quarter.

is this a matter of a potential "comeback" feature, or a matter of the game averaging out. (I had taken 29 free throws to his 18 going into the 4th, and had hit 59% to his 49% from the field in the first 3 quarters).

and also, is there any way to fix this happening? it's extremely frustrating, and I feel, unrealistic.

As was stated earlier... turn clutch factor off and these problems seem to go away for at least some part.
