If you can change all of the sliders, I'd recommend Authentic's TNT set in the slider forum. Very balanced set.

If not, I've found that All-Star/Default is the best way to go. On Sim, everyone misses too many shots and on PRO, it's too easy to beat the CPU.

    Hope this helps.
    Hey DJ,

Yeah, basketball, wrestling, and entertainment are usually where I'm at. Since my basketball team has been struggling and has failed to make a splash (Rockets), I haven't been around much in the basketball forums. All sliders are customizable because it's a simple association. Only I just play as one guy (John Wall). I hope that the sliders work because I play fine on All-Star default. I can shut down my man, score well, and set others up. It's my computer teammates who can't hit shots and don't play D. Actually they play pretty good D but the shots still fall unless I'm the one on them. This is wierd because in regular association, I play off ball D and the computer usually does a great job.

Anyways, I'll try the sliders and see how they work for player lock. Thanks!

Re: Player Lock Association Users Thread

Decided to start a player lock association. Not a big nba fan so didn't know who to start it with it.
Do i go with Mcgrady my favorite player. No.
Do i go with the beloved hornets (from louisiana) No ain't nobody on the team I like to play with that i can grow with.
So i go with Mcgee from the wizards after the dunk contest became a fan. First time playing as a center so it's go be interesting while i learn how to score using post moves.
Need to find some good sliders for HOF.

Re: Player Lock Association Users Thread

i've been doing this since 2k10. its better then my player mode for the sole fact you can adjust the game sliders which makes the A.I waaaaaaaay better, but there's still a couple of issues.

1.You don't get drafted. Some people don't mind just picking there team however i like to be drafted personally.

          2. I found a way around problem one and found a way to get drafted. All you have to do is start up a new ***. mode, go over to "general Manager", select "scouting". There you can edit the current draft class. So just edit some no name guy who wont get drafted anyways and turn him in to the player you want.

Theres only one problem with this strategy you CAN'T ADJUST THE NICKNAMES!! So unless you have a common name like John Smith or something of that nature your stuck with the nick name "ABC" (yeah I know sucks a s s)

So its pretty much pick your poison

          1) play my-player you get drafted and can pick your nickname but good luck with the difficulty problem (weather that problem is its to easy or to hard) and lousy A.I.

          2) Play association Lock and select your team. You don't get drafted but you can choose your own nickname and can adjust sliders.

          3) Play association Lock and edit the draft class. You will be drafted (in next years draft class) but you will have to settle for the PA announcer calling you ABC every time you score or go to the line.

My favorite way is way 3 but its up to you. Hope any of this helps!

Re: Player Lock Association Users Thread

Slider Suggestions for anyone having trouble with difficulty.

Been playing alot of nba2k11 player lock association lately. I play a 5'10" point guard for perspective. If your like me you usually have your starters benched permanately sometime during the 3rd quarter while on PRO.

Then you up it to all-star to find out the opposing team just outplays your teammates no matter what. Very frustrating. Your teammates just seem to be dumber than the opposing team.

So what I've done lately is do something simple. Alternate quarters from pro to allstar. This gives both teams time to make runs and doesn't let the opposing team go crazy on you the entire game.

Depending on if your HOME or AWAY you can set it up like this:

              HOME
              1: Allstar 2: Pro 3: Allstar 4: Pro
              Away
              1: Pro 2: Allstar 3: Pro: 4: Allstar

Seems pretty fair from the games I've played. Let me know what you think.

Re: Player Lock Association Users Thread

That's an interesting thought there. I have noticed this and have gone from Pro to Allstar in various associations. It's stupid how, just as you said, your players get out played no matter what on Allstar. I've seen mediocre players hit shots that would have missed in real life where my 80+ players miss wide open shots.

                I'll probably try your suggestion.

Just something else to note for those of you creating your own player, what shooting ratings are you using? I'm at 55 mid range and 60 3pts, and I'm the best shooter in the league at 58%. It's frustrating because the announcers talk crap about me when I miss a 3, saying it's out of my range and whatnot, yet I'm the best shooter in the NBA? I will give myself this much though, I really choose my shots and only shoot wide open shots, or drive to the hoop in hopes of getting fouled. That's where I miss most, inside.

This is my first NBA2K game I've ever owned and I suck really, really badly so I stick with player lock as well. It's hard enough for me to make decisions on the court with one player let alone five at a time. I'm also kind of a casual hoops fan so I am not too familiar with calling plays and all that stuff. But I have had a blast controlling Joakim Noah in my Association.

Re: Player Lock Association Users Thread

To give everyone yet another game mode option, I thought Id share what my friend and I do for our Player Lock Association:

1: Set your sliders to your preferred Player Lock Association setting

                      2: Download a draft class (I prefer Rowe's or Vy's)

3: Edit a player in the draft class to resemble yourself, I usually do a PG or SF. I edit everything and usually leave myself to be a 75-78 rating.

4: If you don't mind being drafted by a terrible team, make your player have 50 potential so you aren't drafted highly.

5: Pick a team that you want to play for (unless you want to go wherever your player gets drafted)

6: sim through one season of an association, and then either trade for your player after the draft, trade for a higher pick to draft your player, or wait until your player is drafted and switch teams.

** This process allows you to have a player like my player, be drafted, and build a career with sliders and control

Great to see a lot of guys enjoying the Player Lock Association. I recently simmed through the first NBA season and chose to control Kemba Walker, I got traded to Detroit during the Draft and I have played through about 20 regular season games. Averaging 21 points, 13 assists, 3 rebounds and 1 steal per game. Really love playing as Walker.

I still just don't understand why you'd want to play as another player when you can play as yourself. Why not just make yourself exactly like Walker, but name him your own name? Wouldn't it tickle your insides a little when you hear the announcer say your name when you hit a bucket? It sure does me...or rather, would me, if they'd say my last name. I guess I should consider myself lucky enough to have a first name that they recognize as a last name so they'll at least say that.

But again, why would someone want to play as Lebron James when you can create yourself, just as good if you want, and play as yourself against Lebron James?

Interesting idea. Going to try it out.

How do you guys see development? Do you set your potential low/high, etc? Do you run drills for your player locked player or just sit back and watch them develop based on their potential to do so?

I think I'm going to create myself and a few mates and enter us into a draft class. Sim a season, get drafted and take control of the team that drafted me but I'm not sure what to do development wise.

I just set my potential in my edited player's ratings. I usually just let the team control my offseason camps. Since you are a rookie with pretty good potential, they'll utilize camps on you.

When I make my player, I usually make myself pretty dang good in specific areas and others have room for improvement. My awarenesses are about 65-60, O/D or vice versa. I also set my potential at 70-75 pre-draft and choose what team I get drafted by. But if you don't care about where you go, put your potential a little higher. When you are finally on a team, you can put your potential at 95-99 and watch you go!

I run drills for McGee and other team mates.

I might let the cpu do the camp points but i don't know depends on how much McGee progress. Right now still in playoffs round 2. Depends on who the cpu resigns on my team. Decide who goes to camp.
