I have recently given up on video football and gone over to FPS and 2K bball. I too use player lock though I don't go so deep as to lock on a specific player. Mine is more of a position lock (PG). It's still tons of fun. Especially having everything on auto and executing the plays that the coach calls.

That's exactly how I play as well. The only thing that irritates me is that with playcalling on Auto, the coach ignores the Run Plays setting in the Coach Profile and never lets the offense run in Freelance.

any recommendations on who to use? I like to be a lanky SF, that isn't too good, and fairly young. on 2k9 i used KD and Rudy Gay before they were stars and I had a blast

I always pick the PG. I try other positions but I get too much joy from playing the point. My only issue is when I am using a PG that doesn't really rack up a lot of assists I somehow always end up with a rack of assists. I feel guilty afterwards. If I played with 76ers, I would easily average 8+ assists with Jrue even though that isn't him. How do you "pace" yourself when it comes to that.

How do you operate the team if one of you players makes the All Star game? I would suggest just controlling him and when he subs out turn coach mode on.

I thought I'd bump this since I've been playing this way since 2K11 and find play on the court way better since I can adjust sliders. And there doesn't seem to be the offensive rebounding issue? Weird.

Yeah, I can't play sports games without this player-lock style mode at least. I love that games are starting this My Career mode, or The Show, or whatever. It's the best thing to happen to sports games since Player-lock. I just wish 2K would put a bit more effort into giving us the features and options for these modes. I find myself playing a player-lock association rather than the My Player or My career mode every year.

I still can't understand why people aren't creating themselves in an association rather than playing as an actual player. I just don't understand the appeal of that, of playing as an NBA player when you can be yourself against those players.

Count me in. I always recreate my myplayer in a player lock association. With the flexability in team makeup, rosters, sliders, skill sets, dunk packages ect. its a much easier to find a game style that suits you. At least with a player lock association, I don't have to buy the dam 2K13 VC to enjoy the game.
