Re: What should Blake Griffin be rated?

He is averaging 3.5 assist.... What is there to talk about? I thought he was getting more but only 3.5... Come on guys...

edit: He is averaging 4.6 for this month. Some of think he should be the best passing PF in the league?

Passing ratings isn't really that big of a deal for me. He doesn't really ever make crazy flashy passes. As long as he can make simple passes on the game then it doesn't really matter what the rating is to me

I feel you and def understand what you are saying, but if you personally knew me then you would know that im a HARDCORE basketball fan, I study the game like no other, I have NEVER been wrong about the potential of a rookie, even the ones that did not reach that level until their 2nd-3rd year, I called it as a rookie what they would become. Its easy to jump to conclusions from small sample sizes, but barring injury dude will continue to get better and better. Right now there is not a PF in the league as talented, this is as a rookie, its not a stretch to think dude could end up being a top 5 ever.

Think about the statement I made, I said that no other PF in the L can do the things BG can do, this is a fact. Now think about all the PF's who has a specific advantage over BG (rather its back to basket game or midrange jumper ect), dudes like Pau, Dirk, Amare (Pau-back to basket, Dirk-all around jumper, Amare-midrange jumper), do you actually think any of these dudes can match what BG can do RIGHT NOW. They may be better in a certain aspect, but as a whole package at the PF give me BG over anybody right now, and thats easily. I dont think this is that hard to notice, im sure im not the only person in this world who feels like this.

All the talent and athleticism cant make up for experience.

Right now if you swap Griffin w/ Dirk,Pau,or Amare, they wouldnt be better teams. And Aldridge, Randolph, Boozer, Smith, West, and Scola anchor their teams and have better records.

Painting this dude as better than various PFs is still too early to call. Scoring and Rebounding isnt the most accurate way to rank players.

            ^^Exactly how I feel^^

It's funny how some people would pick Blake Griffin... While me on the other hand would still take Duncan. Just on defense alone.

You would lose your job with the quickness lol. Sometimes I be forgetting that most of yall are basketball videogame fans, not hardcore basketball fans so I now understand some of yall perspectives.

Its obvious to me that you dont watch much basketball or you just have not watched Griff, you needed to check stats to see how good of a passer he is, im good on conversating about NBA basketball with you bruh, ill talk videogames.

You cant beat experience... Though I honestly think Blake is better than all of those guys you mentioned except for Dirk, Amare & Pau. Those 3 guys are in a league of their own right now. Most of those other players' teams have a perimeter player that rivals Eric Gordon, have more solid veterans and have deeper benches. If Im starting a team right now and need a PF it would be hard for me not to take Blake. Amare is the only guy that I might take over him.

This is why I left this thread the last time. Why do grow men think someone doesn't watch basketball just because they don't know the stats to every player in the league. Or the other way around. I've pretty much been watching all of blake griffin games since Nov. I might not watch the games live. But I do download pretty much all of them to watch on the go.

You'll notice I been on that site for a long time now. Probably don't have as much post as I have on here. But as you can see I do get around to watching pretty much all the games. So please... Stop with the childish remarks. I thought I was a grown up site. Not 2k's forums...

Re: What should Blake Griffin be rated?

I ve seen this happen way too many times in the NBA.

Fans anoint players much to early.

Grant Hill was hyped up. Tracy McGrady, Chris Webber, Jason Kidd, Jerry Stackhouse, Yao Ming, Brandon Jennings(anyone....anyone), Dwight Howard,Vince Carter, Gilbert Arenas and 'KING' James(one of the worse examples of modern day promotion/fan hypnotism).

U fans overhype these dudes before they become anything and only a handfull of cats ever WIN the Championship. When it pans out they have nothing to show for the all the HYPE bestowed by over-eager hero-worshipping fans.

Please show some restraint and allow these players get some EXP before you start placing them ahead of the pack. Dont get so excited.

                        Im cool w/ Griffin's 85 rating.

But the difference is that Blake has been arguably the BEST PLAYER IN THE NBA this year. Not just the bets rookie, but the best overall NBA player. He is a rookie but he is already darn good. Plus he has the work effort and has gotten leaps and bounds better in the first weeks of his career. The guys you listed were hyped up a lot, but they never were as good as Blake already is.

Blake is by far the bets option. Amare is great, same with Dirk and Pau and all the other top PF's of today, don't get me wrong. BUT, Blake is young and is already on these guys level. He is a rookie! Imagine 5 years down the line how good he will be if he stays healthy!

Call it anointing or hype or what you want... sports are driven by great talents. All of those players you mentioned have had great careers or have had them derailed by injuries. Barring injury Blake is going to have a great career. We dont see players come into the league like this and not succeed unless its due to a career altering or ending injury. You tell us not to get excited... thats like telling me not to be a fan. If you love basketball how can you not get excited when you see this guy play?

Is he the best PF in the league? NO
Is he playing like the best player in the league? NO
Can you argue that he is a top 5 PF in this league right now? YES
