Speed, quickness, vertical, stamina, I would be above 25 in all of these areas. Not a chance I wouldn't rate above 25 in any specific basketball skill though. I think I'd end up being a spot up shooter with 25 ratings in all jumpshot categories.
I am largely in agreement. As it turns out, even boosting one's speed over 25 seems to affect the overall rating, so I believe more people here would end up being above the minimum overall than we think, just from not being the absolute worst at certain athletic categories. For what it's worth, I think 49 overall (Ha Seung-Jin - Free Agent) was the lowest rated NBA player I came across in 2K11, so there's a whole lot of room between 49 and 25 for all of our comparative horridness to fit in.

I maintain some of my shot ratings would be over 25, but I'm hard pressed to find any non-shooting skill categories I'd register in. Even at 6'3'', I'm a serviceable rebounder (at best) amongst my own crew. I have a hard time taking rebounds from my 6'7'' or 6'8'' friends, so I imagine it being nearly impossible to go in and actively snag a rebound in the league (unless one fell into my lap). Blocks, zip. Steals, I won't be ripping any leaguer any time soon; the guards would be too good and quick, the big men too strong. Passing, again, I have enough regrettable turnovers against people I view below my skill level - so it'd be fun to watch me try to make plays with my passing against lightning quick 6'3'' guards with 6'10'' wingspans.

My real curiosity here is not whether I could hang with an NBA player. To restate once more, I'm not sure anyone is suggesting that here. I think the original topic was just how low our ratings really would be. But here's a new question (or challenge): In NBA 2K11, do you believe it'd be possible to make a real-life version of yourself (whether you be rated a 25 overall, 30 overall, or whatever you truly feel) and then pit the cyber you against an NBA player in 1 on 1 in Streetball Mode and somehow come out victorious?

You could win, if you were a 3 point marksman, or had some serious offensive abilities/are 7 feet tall and playing a very short person.

In other words, if you had some advantage unique to you, you stand a chance. If you don't, you might be able to defend(maybe adequately even), but you wouldn't be able to score.

This is a cool thread, have to give some props to the OP. Realistically, I have no shot playing in the NBA because I'm not near athletic enough. When I play pickup with my boys they call me Q-Rich, because like Quentin Richardson I just shoot threes and never play defense. In High School I played with two players who had their cup of tea in the NBA, and you could tell these guys were legit by how they didn't have to try in practice and still dominated.

Honestly, I think I'd grade out as like a 27 overall, maybe my 3 pt rating would be 75 because I'm pretty consistent from there, as Mark Jackson would say I'm a knockdown shooter. But that's really where the talent ends with me. Quentin Richardson looks like a defensive stopper towards me, and athletically Greg Ostertag would look like Michael Jordan compared to me. But if somehow there was a designated defender they could sub in for me, I could be of some use knocking down threes.

I've always wondered this. Of course, there's no way to be sure, but I have played against very good players (a couple HS AAs, and a lot of D1 players) and never felt completely overwhelmed. Admittedly, these guys never made the pros, but they are far better than the average rec guys.

That being said, a guy I went to high school with who was an excellent college player and a productive European pro is better than me in every single regard, and as far as I know, he's never had a sniff at the NBA.

I figure if I was put in an NBA game, I couldn't guard anyone, but if you give me a wide open shot (and someone like Trevor Ariza isn't closing out on me), I'll knock it down more often than not. A skill set which is worth . . . precisely nothing. (Ask Steve Novak).

So, only touching the athletic and shooting abilities, I ranked out as a 29 (or a four). Which seems about right.

Me and a friend went out and guarded each other at practice and
we took 100 close shots/100 med/100 3pts/100 lay-up and used that for our shooting and we did certain things for rebounding, ball handling, and etc
            came out like a 48ish
