Most of them are probably too high, but I'm predicting 2K's ratings, which always are out the box.
Bill Russell a 96? He was offensively challenged, he was a great defender/rebounder but he wasn't a good offensive player.

Averaged 15PPG for his career, shooting 44% in an era where basically nobody (even centers) were able to regularly shoot 50% or better. Averaged double figure scoring (12.5+) for 12 straight seasons. Not great but that would make him a top 10-15 offensive center today, and that says nothing about his incredible knack for making defensive plays and collecting rebounds.

He was an average offensive player for sure. Definitely not a bad one at all.

That's a very accurate scouting report... from 2003. His defensive is at least up to par with the NBA averages... I haven't checked the numbers but I'd expect that they would support this. And perhaps more importantly, his play supports it. Don't confuse a lack of blocks and steals for bad defense. His is MUCH improved, particularly in the last 5 years. He's gotten better and better.

That's your opinion and I respect it, but you are not going to convince me. I'm from Dallas so I watch a lot of Mavericks games, and IMO Dirk is a below average defender.

          This.

I think because Russell played against Wilt people look at his offensive numbers as poor. He was average to above average when it came to other centers of his day, especially when you look at the offensive talent on his team.

Plus, Russell's defense, rebounding and intangibles were off the charts. That combined with even an average offensive arsenal brings his rating into the 90's.

good in-depth list but, gerald wallace atleast 84-86 injuries cant be statistized, and he's got the best hustle in the nba that give him that clutch factor already, and i can understand you respect for wilt giving him a 99 against his peers, but shaq in his prime 99 as-well. IN MY OPINION

thats correct, Horford is out of position and defends the center position. and quite well, i might add.

and you're right, but Love floats on the perimeter because he's below average scoring down low/defending....there's a subtle difference. and think about it...a PF who's doesn't get into the paint? say that again and see if it makes sense...Love lives in the paint (most good rebounders do) its just that he only does one thing really well there: REBOUND.

here's a nice writeup Zach Lowe over at CNN did on him (Love is #21): http://nba-point-forward.si.com/2011...sct=nba_t11_a0

                  Magic Johnson = 95
                  Larry Bird = 95
                  Hakeem Olajuwon = 93
                  Kareem Abdul Jabar = 93

This was pretty hard, i wasn't sure if i should raise Magic & Larry ratings up, knowing 2k, they'll give them about a solid 95, i don't expect them to give them a 99. Although, it could be a possibility that they both be a higher rating, like a 97-98. Hakeem and Kareem seemed ok i guess, 93 seems fine for them.

                  Kobe Bryant = 95 / 96
                  Lebron James = 97
                  Carmelo Anthony = 94
                  Dwayne Wade = 92
                  Chris Bosh = 85
                  CP3 = 95
                  D Williams = 95
                  Rajon Rondo = 93
                  D Rose = 95
                  Pau Gasol = 85
                  Dirk Nowitzki = 93
                  Kevin Garnett = 80
                  Pau Peirce = 83
                  Ray Allen = 80

                  Blake Griffin = 85
                  Kevin Love = 85
                  Derrick Williams = 76
                  Kyrie Irving = 79
                  Kevin Durant = 96
                  Russell Westbrooke = 85

That's all i can think of for now, share some of your predicted ratings.
LMAO at your ratings, straight horrible.

                      Re: Early 2k12 Player Ratings

Adjusting my opinion to 2k's ratings... Just because an overall rating of one player is better than the other's this does not mean one player is better than other or impacts the game more. You always got different heights, positions, weight and some things affect the ranking more and others less. Taking in account both offense and defense my ratings would be something like (a few might be a bit off because I'm doing this on the spot)...

Some confirmed and seen in the preview Legends (not sure what time in their career they gonna be in so I just give my opinion on full careers):
Jordan - 89/90 (early years); 96/97 (prime); 95 to 94 (return to the Bulls and final years there); 86 (Wizards)
                      Magic - 94 (early years); 94/95 (prime '86-'91); 83 (short return)
Bird - 93 (more athletic early years); 95/96 (prime '84-'88); 91 to 89 (last years when his back gave up on him)
                      Kareem - 95 (early years); 96 (rest of the 70's); 94 (early 80's); 90 (mid 80's); 89 to 82 (last years)
                      Dr. J - 93 (prime early years); 92 to 89 (late 70's and early 80's); 88 to 85 (final years)
                      Hakeem - 92 to 93 (early years); 94 (prime '92-'96): 91 to 83 (final years)
                      Nique - 88 (early years); 91/92 (prime); 90 to 83 (final years)
McHale - 83 (early years); 86/89 (prime years); 89/90 (absolute prime '85-'87), top of his game); 83 to 79 (last couple of years)
Parish - 84 (early years); 86/89 (hard to define his absolute prime, he played this great during many years; 83 to 70 (last 5/6 years)
Worthy - 84 (early years); 86/89 (prime years); 83 to 72 (last couple of years)
Bill Walton - 86 (early years); 91/93 (in his really short prime due to injuries); 78/81 (when he was healthy, even if injury prone and only playing a few minutes like in his championship year with Boston); 69 (last few games before more injuries and retiring)

Dennis Johnson - 77/79 (early years); 84/88 (prime years); 81/84 (best Boston years); 79 to 70 (final years)

Any player with a 99 overall rating is total exaggeration, even for Jordan (arguably the GOAT even though I can't name one and is a bit stupid to compare different positions). I gave him the highest rating though...

I know no rating can appeal to everybody and that's just my opinion, even though it was made without that much thinking, I would probably change things here and there if I went through it again.
