Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

Just started my new association with the Knicks. Playing on pro right now, couldn't figure out all-star yet. Also using 12 minute quarters. Made 2 trades and a FA signing. Here's what I did:

Before the first game, I made this trade:

Landry Fields, Jeremy Lin, and Toney Douglas to the Nets for MarShon Brooks, Damion James, and 2 2nd rounders.

Love Brooks's scoring and James's driving ability. Lost the first game to the Heat in a 4th quarter nail biter. Then I picked up this guy who I forgot was a FA:

Knicks sign PG Gilbert Arenas to 1 yr/$5.76M deal.

Love Gilbert's scoring as well. Lost the next game to the Bucks by 8. Played on all-star for a while and was getting blown out, so switched to pro for 2nd half and made a big comeback in the 4th, taking the lead, but then gave up playing defense. Our D just could not stop Steven Jackson. After this game, to clear some cap space for next year, I made this deal:

Renaldo Balkman and 2013 2nd rounder to the Warriors for Dominic McGuire.

Also made this trade, which I thought was a no brainer:

Steve Novak and 2013 2nd rounder to the Bucks for 2012 2nd rounder and Tobias Harris.

Right now, going into a game against the Pistons, my roster looks like this:

    PG Baron Davis
    SG Iman Shumpert
    SF Carmelo Anthony
    PF Amar'e Stoudemire
    C Tyson Chandler
    6th Gilbert Arenas
    7 MarShon Brooks
    8 Damion James
    9 Bill Walker
    10 Jared Jeffries
    11 Mike Bibby
    12 Tobias Harris
    Res. Dominic McGuire
    Res. Josh Harrellson

Just got off the xbox actually lol, i'll add ya when I get back on! So I went to load my assoc an it was corrupted..that happened to me on 2k11 once or twice. So I made a new one..same team, HOF, and 12MQ. Already knowing my team struggles and what I need to improve on I instantly made some moves before the first game. Traded Andres Nocioni for a 1st round draft pick, signed Keith Bogans to a 1 year deal (it was a toss up between him and Quinton Ross), signed Joel P once again for great rebounding, and fixed my playbook up with some nice PnR's, lobs, and good off ball screens. So far I'm 0-2 lmao...Celtics and Pacers blew me out by 20...Pacers game was garbage though because 2k rated Dahntay jones amazing on offense..he had 26 on me. Oh well I guess..onto Washington!

        UTAH JAZZ ASSOCIATION
        Week 1: New Look Jazz

        Game 1: OPENING GAME
        JAZZ-107 ROCKETS-113
Jazz had it's first game against the Rockets. The difference maker in the game was the amount of times each team went to the free throw line, and how many were made. Jazz made 19-24, which by itself is solid, but the Rockets went for 30-44, so they had 20 more attempts than the Jazz. Millsap had 21 points, 13 rebounds, a couple of steals and a block. Josh Howard also had 16 points a couple of steals and a block. The Rockets responded with Scola having 29 points, 13 rebounds, and a steal. Kevin Martin also had 20 points and 2 steals, but he also turned the ball over 5 times.
        ROOKIE DEBUT
This was the first game for rookies Alec Burks, Enes Kanter, and Marcus Morris. Marcus Morris had 6 points and a rebound in his debut. Enes Kanter had 4 points and a rebound. Alec Burks played solid as the starting shooting guard, with 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists.

        Game 2: A SURPRISING CONTRIBUTOR
        JAZZ-102 GRIZZLIES-96
Against the game with the Grizzlies, the Jazz had a solid production from their bench. Devin Harris and Al Jefferson were in foul trouble (5 each) and the lift was needed. CJ Miles played amazing from the bench, and the difference in bench production was the real game-changer. CJ Miles had 21 points, and 1 steal in only 17 minutes of play. Jefferson (18pts, 9rebs) and Howard (15pts, 1stl, 1blk) played solid games as well. Zach Randolph for the Grizzlies had a great game with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Rudy Gay also had 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 steals. Conley was the third player of the Grizzlies to have a triple-double, with 11 points, 10 assists, and 2 steals.
        BENCH PRODUCTION
The Jazz bench clearly outplayed the Grizzlies bench, the three most productive from the Jazz bench were CJ Miles (21pts, 1stl), Toney Douglas (8pts, 4rebs, 3asts, 1stl) and Favors (4pts, 8rebs, 1ast) the Grizzlies bench only responded with Darrell Arthur having 8 points and 6 rebounds. Tony Allen having 8 points as well, with 2 rebounds. and Josh Selby was their third best bench player, only having 2 points.

Game 3: REVENGE IS BEST SERVED IMMEDIATELY
        Jazz-103 Rockets-89
Jazz played the Rockets for the second time, and unlike the first time, the Jazz took the win this time. The key role to this game was field goal percentage. The Rockets had more field goal attempts than the Jazz, but produced on less than the Jazz did. During the game, Jordan Hill also fouled out, though he wasn't really a factor for the Rockets. Harris had a great game, with 16 points, 7 assists, and 1 steal. Jefferson had a double-double of 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 steals. Burks had a great game as well, with 11 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and a block to top it off. Kevin Martin and Scola were the only two players to strike back at the Jazz. Martin had 20 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals and a block. Scola also had a double-double of 17 points, and 12 rebounds, and had two steals as well.
        PG PRODUCTION
The outcome of this game was really because of PG production. Kyle Lowry had a solid game with 7 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals, but beneath those stellar stats, he had 3 turnovers and a horrid 3-17 field goals. Harris did better shooting wise, with 6-14, and he turned the ball over less. He had less rebounds and steals, but his 16 points and 7 assists helped him just stay on top of Lowry and was a productive PG.

Havent played my Raptors season in a few days. I may just start it over when i go back to school tomorrow. Thankfully, I will have my xbox that works instead of my brothers that takes forever to load and is just too frustrating to even try and play.

Ill probably start it up new cuz im only 2 games in and I will probably not trade for Jordan Hamilton like I did in this one. I will probably still dump Kleiza and Gray somewhere and then trade Forbes for another SF, but Im leaning towards Kawhi Leonard as my starting SF. I loved him in college and he is a good rebounder which I wouldnt mind with Bargnani being a subpar rebounding center

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

Finally going to start an association but not sure who to start it with..

My favorite part of association mode is doing the rebuilding of a team and I rarely actually play through more than 1 season. So I downloaded vctrb's 12' draft class and made some tweaks to it and then downloaded a '13 draft class(cant remember who) and made some major tweaks to the ratings etc.(ratings were too high). I want to have some of the '14 prospects in my association like Jabari Parker, Julius Randle, and Nerlens Noel so I added them to the 13' draft class. Just imagine the 1 year college rule had been lifted.

So Im going to simulate the first two seasons while doing all the offseason activities and start playing games in the 2013-2014 season. Im considering starting with the Lakers, Celtics, or the Mavericks because Kobe, KG, and Dirk will most likely be near or at retirement by then. Or start with an already rebuilding team like Washington, Detroit, or Sacramento.

4-4 through 8 games in my Bobcats Fantasy Drafted Association. I'm finally starting to learn how to mix and match and how to utilize each player.

I've always liked LeBron James, even though I disagree with "The Decision." I really want to play with him but I don't want to be the Heat or do a Fantasy Draft.

So, my question is if their is a somewhat realistic storyline to where the Heat would get rid of LeBron. This could be a move that would happen next year or the following year. It doesn't have to be this current season for a "move."

Any suggestions or "storylines" to help me make this more realistic (to an extent) would be much appreciated.

Playing all 82 games means either you have plenty of time, patience, or enjoy excruciatingly slow updates. One game takes around an hour to an hour and a half. I, personally, can't stand shortened schedules, so I instead play a game a week, it also makes it so that I can actually see how my team would do in an association, instead of just me controlling the association.

I decided to make a new Los Angeles Lakers association where I get the team younger while still staying competitive. After a couple of trades and using all my draft picks this is how my team looks like.

                          Starting Lineup:
                          Pg. Kirk Hinrich(Upgrade over Fisher)
                          Sg. Kobe Bryant
                          Sf. Metta World Peace
                          Pf. Pau Gasol
                          C. Andrew Bynum

                          Backups:
Pg. J.J. Barea(Upgrade over Steve Blake)
                          Sg. Marshon Brooks(Lakers future SG)
                          Sf. Matt Barnes
                          Pf. Tyler Hansbrough(Good potential)
                          C. Troy Murphy

                          Reserves:
                          Sf. Devin Ebanks
                          Pf. Derek Character

I use the Bucks (my favorite team) my line up is bj3, jax, mbah a moute, tyler hansbrough, and bogut with a slightly edited harris, leuer, and normal redd or delfino and ridnour off the bench. I play with simulation sliders on here and my Free lance/Swing/Dribble Drive Hybrid offense torches every opponent i play from behind the arch. Im scouting jordan taylor, hummell and a few others hoping to replace udrih, sanders, and ridnour when theyre gone, I love association, im starting mid season playin 12 min quarters so ill have to fight all season to get into the playoffs (since the game has my team as amoung the worst in the NBA).

Kobe retires from the Lakers....Heat dissapointed with James' lack of production in big moments, Wade remains Number 1 in Miami, Miami cannot have 3 max contracts due to the new Hard Salary cap rules and since Wade is the star and bosh takes a pay cut and is resigned as a great starter/role star, LeBron is unloaded and reunites with Mike Brown in the NBA's largest market.

thats my best shots lol sorry

Outside of getting rid of Fisher, I like it. Lakers would not trade Fisher. He'll retire a Laker, and for Kirk, to me its not much of a deal. I really like the Brooks acquisition to replace Kobe when he retires. I loved Brooks in college and I was somebody who felt (and still feels) if he gets the opportunity to start, he could be a top 5 scorer in the league down the road. I only dont trade for him (or I guess wont when I start an association I will stick with) because I want to see how he plays out on a CPU team and I dont want to take away players like that from struggling teams. But in your teams case, its a great pickup
