There are alot of tools in this years game and I would like to take the time to learn about them all, all of the things talked about in those insights on both offense and defense, and how much more life like the CPU plays, the challenge is how it needs to be, CHALLENGING!!

I feel like there is a window to learn some things on defense as well as how to stop certain teams. Played the Spurs twice with Denver...got whipped the 1st game because I couldn't stop Tony Parker's driving and Manu's craftiness... the 2nd time I put them in their place (just thought about the Grizzlies last year )

Point im making is, you can learn new things, about executing, how to be more effective, and overall strategy

Last year the game was changed somehow, and this year I am starkly against anyone asking for this game's intensity to be toned down just so they can 3pt and dunk their way to easy wins...

While I am not saying its perfect as can be, I am saying is

I think 2k did a great job and I just wont let it go down without a fight
Well said! This is the first year I actually had to have somewhat of a strategy in place in order to win. I'm loving it so far!

The way I feel, the CPU should feel like im playing against a disciplined NBA team

They should execute, even if not always perfectly, because none of them always do, but they definitely ought to come out ready to do business

The user should have to execute as well, give it some mental exercise as to how im going to take them down.. same as i did with san antonio... the 2nd game Tony Parker wasn't going in the lane on me at will.. I fixed him, but Duncan got more involved as a result but of course he wasnt enough lol

Thats the point though, I earned that win, it wasnt handed to me by handicapping the AI. It feels so much more alive this year, please dont make it into a stiff lifeless robot

Re: Please dont turn down gameplay intensity this year

I love this years game already and have only played a few games, I support this thread as a veteran also, it is my belief also that most of these guys are not taking the time to learn the new controls and moves available and are just going off half cocked about things that if the proper time was taken to understand wouldn't be an issue

defense is not broken ...real basketball people move your feet, you can not stick to anyone like glue anywhere that I have seen.

now saying that, I do feel like I am sliding alittle more than necessary but that is a tweak that can be fixed, the only other thing I find that I am having a problem with alot is weak side defense on the 3 point line...every game I am getting schooled there...but I need to make the adjustment not the game..it does not need to be dumbed down again this year, people need to step up!!! training camp is in the game for a reason use it!!!

23 I agree with you 100%, lets just hope 2k does as well. I play on All-Star sim and I have only one 2 games out 6. I do play with the kings which they have a very low rated offense and defense, so I actualljy have to work twice as hard for a W, which I love!!!!!

Please 2K listen to us all, leave gameplay alone, its great. Just fix the bugs.....dunk packages would be a start.

Great post, I could not agree more. I like having a challenge because it makes me want to keep playing and get better at the game. I am loving the gameplay how it is right now, and I hope they do not change it.

Re: Please dont turn down gameplay intensity this year

i agree with you 100% man. Last year i didnt have access to a wired internet connection so i went till a bit after the patch with the original version, without roster or gameplay updates. I was in basketball heaven.

Once i finally downloaded the patch and roster updates, the whole feeling of the game changed pretty drastically and not for the better. I understand that its in 2ks nature to listen to the feedback of their fans but unfortunately there are way more unrefined basketball gamers out there than students of the game.

So ill say it too, please 2k devs, take into consideration the opinions of the guys that go deepest into the rabit hole. We're the guys that play the game all year around. We're the guys that enjoy the game even more once casual fans stop playing because call of duty just came out. We're the guys that don't pick the game up on a whim, we pick it up because we love what 2k as a game and as a company represent.

              Thanks for listening.

Wait so are you guys saying it shouldnt be touched at all? I know there are some things that need to be tweaked, but I also understand that if they start tweaking then it runs the risk of ruining the challenge that we have rt now.
And Ill agree with whoever said it before, but this gives the game a tremendous amount of replay value. Im at work thinking about strategies on how to beat the cpu. Cant wait to get back to it.

I also agree 100% with this thread.
In all honesty I am not a huge BB fan but I bought last years game after reading the hype for it. It subsequently was my most played game last year.

I have to say I was probably one of those players who ran up the court trying to get a quick basket and finding the game incredibly hard. Now I had absolutely no knowledge of BB strategies and tactics however when I started doing the plays it completely changed the game and also how I saw BB.

Nba2k11 actually made me learn more about strategies etc so that I could understand the game better and hence play the game better. I get that not everyone is going to go and do that but I do think if you know how BB is played then you will incorporate that into playing the game and hence feel rewarded when you do start to win etc.

The problem with a lot of gamers now is they are a quick fix generation who have to have instant gratification. Take the time to sit and learn to play.

I can't wait to pick up my copy of 12 on Friday (in uk) and look forward to the challenge!

Agree 110% 23.....I want the game to challenge me time and time again, otherwise it will get boring.....especially since you can't always rely on user competition being available, you need a competent cpu opponent

We are saying for them to not dumb the game down like they are known to do once a few thousand user complain that they aren't able to spin dunk their way to victory.

I'm actually really liking the ranked settings right now too.

Threes can fall at a high rate, but I don't have a problem with the setting, there are just some ratings issues. Bogans shouldn't be a knockdown 3pt shooter for example, but I like that people can't just hide back in a zone and not have to worry about being shot out of it.

The ball is finally LIVE again in ranked games, last year's steal success slider being at 25 was absurd. You can really punish people for over dribbling this year.

Contact in the paint is definitely a step above last year, though there's still room for improvement. One thing I'm hoping to see for 2k13 is the elimination of phantom foul calls, it's frustrating getting whistled when you're no where near the ball and have no effect on the shot. Fouls should only be called when there's visible contact.

So what about 2K's post defense?

I do agree that the game is pretty good as is, especially for what is to be expected from 2K. I also wouldn't want a patch to make the game easier. Difficulty isn't really my issue with the game, it's more it's representation of the physical aspects of the game. I think they've taken a major step forward in the control aspect as compared to last years game. I'd just like to see the game cleaned up a bit (actually a lot) in how momentum, inertia, and physical collisions are represented especially on defense. That's not to say that the D is too hard or ineffective. When I came to 2K games after hearing how "sim" it was for so many years I was very unpleasantly surprised by how it handles these areas. I feel the design directions taken were more about adding a challenge than they were about simulating real life. Because these are the things I focus on it leaves me a bit disappointed with this years game. I am saying all this to clarify that I am not one calling for patches and quick fixes but that I would like for the game to be more "sim" in these areas in the future.

23 and all the others Im with you 100% and we may have just found a way to teach young ball players the fundamentals... because you cant just run n dunk on here, this game shows um what they have to do to get to that point...
