    If at all possible, I would prefer an increase in the defenders ability to contest shots; 2k11 3-point shot percentages were extremely low and it diminished my enjoyment of the game by turning it into mainly an inside game. 2k12 has both an inside and outside game, it just needs some tweaking on defense so that both inside and outside game elements are still utilized.

      With both being utilized. That is my point. 2k11, only the inside game was really utilized (at least in MyPlayer). your edit changes nothing in what I said - in 2k11, after over 500 MyPlayer games, I can safely say the 3-pt percentage rate for the league was too low.

        I can only speak for MyPlayer mode, since thats all I've been playing, but it doesn't seem so much that the overall 3 point percentage is too high, but the circumstances in which they are frequently made.
        For example, the cpu hits far too many 3's as the shot clock is hitting 0 while being highly contested. These buzzer beating shots happen in real life, but not nearly at the rate it happens in game. Seems like if they hoist up a shot as its winding down, they actually have a higher chance of these going in, just based on preception. Also, too many times I see my A.I. teammates literally run away from a shooter. These things become very frustrating. If these can be tweeked via patch, it would greatly enhance the gameplay.

          That doesn't even make sense to me.

          People really need to learn how to contest with the RS. It will severely impact how successful a shot goes in. The problem here is the game is registering the "action" of putting the hand out but the user sees a really far distance b/w the contest and the shooter's face. So the user thinks the contest isn't playing out. The RS contest on a SHOT should NOT be 360 degrees (but that's for another topic).

          Lowering the 3pt slider is only going to put a band-aid on something that has a slightly deeper problem. Even if you alter the rosters, you're still going to see the other problems you claim to see....

          I'm not saying it won't help... but it's not the end-all, be-all solution most are making their suggestion seem like.

          Red: It is overpowered. Aslong as you have the timing right, it will go in. Even hocus pocus shots like faders, spin jumpers - player's who only have Average proficiency will hit these non stop. Dorrell Wright 61 Medium Shot will hit them all day at Mid Range with the slider at 50. At 47 success, he will actually miss and play true to the 61. On Topic, same goes for 3 pointers, they should also be at 47.

          Black: If I was a cheeser, I'd rather cheese for 3 points instead of 2.

            Guys definetly cheese with mid range jumper. Either contested or uncontested. As DaCzar pointed out earlier we should be able to strategize in sagging off bad shooters like D12 or even Rondo (like the Celtics, Knicks series). ATM both Howard and Rondo most of their shots.

            And excellent players if release is right hiut 100% and also hit way too many jump shots. Against players like dirk and melo you can put a hand in their face or even jump for a block they will still make too many of the shots. I know that both are good at shooting contested, but they are not that good.

            Also with this ratings people that ain't good off the dribble can pull off spin shots etc. with ease. And even the best players shouldn't hit them that regularly. Again people online just turbo with the likes of Drose from left to right and when they have one inch of space hit far mid range jumper. This shouldn't be so. There should be a bigger margin of error. And mid at 47 is just that.

              Do this thing. Go to NBA 2k11 and see how sliders are set there for simulation. Three points slider is set at 45 in NBA 2K11.
              Now go to NBA 2k12 and set simulation sliders and check. You will see that slider for 3PT is set to 50.

                The way NBA 2K11 had it was perfect, IMO. However, I feel as if the game went through a face lift. Medium Shots in NBA 2K12 are a lot easier to make than they were in NBA 2K11, but if you adjust them to 47, it almost has the same feel. It is as if in NBA 2K12, the '50' value just has a lot more than it did in NBA 2K11.

                  After playing a few games with current and legend teams and cycling through the rosters, to me this year 2K has alot of 3 point attributes and ratings gone crazy. 95Orlando Magic's Dennis Scott is rated a 98 or 99 from 3point?? He was good, but not that good. Based on 2K's ratings 98 Kobe is a better shooter than current Kobe, Im a huge Kobe fan but in real life 98 Kobe was throwing up alot of brick shots and he mainly attack the rim, but 2K has him as a better shooter then than now, wow. They have alot of legend players and current players 3 point attributes/ratings jacked up, that's why people are seeing so much problems with the 3 point shooting in this game. Also the second problem with this is the defense -

                  Alot of teams collapse on the guy in the paint or driving because alot of teams coaching tendency is set to this by the default roster, so alot of shooters are also being left wide open. Also its almost like off the ball defense is not working this year, if you set it to deny the ball on the player or play tight off the ball, it doesn't seem to work like it did last year.

                  So basically the 3 point shooters ratings, the coaching tendencies and lack of off the ball defense settings not working properly are the main causes of this problem. The rosters attributes and players/coach tendencies need to be adjusted and a patch needs to address the defensive settings not always working properly.

                    It's not that they make to many if their 3 pointers, it's that too many three pointers and jump shots in general are taken. The defense still leaves there man and allows jumpers for no reason.

                      I'm not quite sure what shot quality measures. Easy way to figure this out, turn it on, take one shot wide open with the defender sagging off then take another with the defender tight and hands up.

                      If the shot quality changes then that tells you if it has an impact.

                      I mentioned this earlier, but that success rate goes down over 48 mins and the defender HAS TO use the RS defense. The game looks for the input; if you're still contesting with "Y" then you're not really contesting.

                      Once you get the hang of that, you'll see the mid range isn't that bad.

                        there's definitely a real problem here, that needs to be addressed... seeing way too many 3's falling with ease, without the need to find open guys or create space with the shooter... it's kinda' silly... and this is on HoF/Sim

                            Of course you can TRY to contest with the Y button. The point is it isn't as effective. The added compression on the jump nerfed it.

                              I think it's good that people can hit the 3. If someone is camping out there and they are wide open, they should hit it most of the time. I don't think I've seen someone hit a bunch of 3s on teamplay.

                              but I only play teamplay...

                              Edit: a lot of floating mid ranges go down, though, and certain inside shots are money. Like I played a game where Ben Wallace was beasting. I think the 3 point shot is good as it is, especially considering the other shots are slightly too wet. It's balanced. IMO. Maybe not sim.

                                Alot of times when you are in a position to press Y you are either sagging enough not to get a foul or you end up doing it late so unless you actually get the block you tend not to affect the shot as much as you would like, with hands up defense you are directly on the offensive player and he is forced to immediate adjust the shot.
