Even if it means open 3s taking a hit then I'm fine with them being decreased. 2 pts less on the slider would be perfect. It should be tweaked if for no other reason than the fact that the offense has the advantage in an environment with input lag. The success rate is high, and contests are even more difficult.

Another problem is what other people have been saying My Player. The problem is compounded thrice over because not only is the success rate high the computer seems to be incapable of defending itself, and many times we're helpless to stop it. I've had teams shoot 60% from 3, and all I can do is shake my head and watch them rain down. The (cpu) slider here needs to be turned down at least 3 points.

In any other mode there's nothing to say because people have total control there.
The 3 pts definitely needs toning down in my player the computer is hitting too many contested 3 point shots which takes away the realism. God help you if you play the magic and celtics. I dont think keith bogans of the bulls can hit 8 of 10 on a good nite yet everytime i play my player he is constantly @ 60% jacking up no less than 7 to 8 threes. between him deng i can never keep a lead or even beat the bulls because of the amount of 3s. Magics hit 13of 18 threes of which i think at least 8 to 10 were contested.so it does need to come down a bit

offline = perfect. like most of the game truthfully, offline the game plays like a dream quite honestly.

online is pretty bad. needs to be adjusted significantly. here are two examples. i also played a game vs a guy with golden state who's entire strategy was the come downcourt/stop six inches from defender and nail 3's. no contesting helped (and i wasnt in zone) he was 12 for 19 at halftime.

Off topic# 1 - Rebounding is pathetic in this game, especially the offensive rebounding. CPU gets everything even with a great box out. Majority of the missed threes are then rebounded by the offense & then kicked out for A-NOTHER(Chris Smoove voice) 3pt shot.

If they can have the settings like 2k11, i'm set. It was more balanced and gamers chose to shoot more smarter instead of jacking up a 3 to save their lives.

Off topic#2 - No Lead is safe. A gamer would be down by 12-15 points but with turnovers, missed shots and consecutive 3's on the other end, your lead is now a 2 possession game or a tie. The 3pt helps when down!

I agree to the lack of contesting 3pts. I've play a lot of gamers who choose wisely when shooting threes & others that have attempted over 20 threes.

This is more relative to online play.
100% agreed. I know that I have been up double digits leads, and lost them in a matter of a minute. I played one ATL user, and he knocked down 3 buzzer beating, near half-court shots for the 1st three quarters with Crawford. I was livid. Crawford when 9 of 12 in that game, and I was guarding him with Paul George who's a pretty tall SG in general.

Beluba Hopefully you know the work Ive done for NBA2k9 and NBA 2k10 respectively...

In answering your question about 3 point %'s. I would say this. Right now I play the game using the players shot percentages NOT shot stick skill.

based of of this I can say that i have to bump the 3pointsuccess slider to about 60 or 65 in order to "feel" as if the player im shooting with HAS the 3 point skill.

CPU however is FINE. NO problems whatsoever there.

The games brilliant this year and with the right slider set it plays perfect.

Your default setting for the game are FINE do not change.

However CPU CLUTCH 3 pointers are scary at times and if the games close i feel I will lose most of the time

The problem seems to be that the shooters are way too easily considered as open. If you dont play flawless defense the shot will be considered as if you arent even on the floor

Lets be honest the 5 minute qrt quick games are way out of balance, it plays better on 12 minutes which I love ( But some people dont have time for). Fatigue NEEDS to have influence on shots, In real life if you are tired you will start coming up short on shots. Fatigue is way outta wack, you can play 48 min straight online (also the 5 min qrts no one gets tired).

I agree my player defensive rebounding is 80 and vertical is 99 yet the ball seems to fall through his hand into a shorter guard's hand and it is definitely a hot mess in the paint too many defenders rush in wen someone drives and if ure playin against the computer and u pass out the ball is always stolen, its very fustrating wen in the reverse not only do they complete the pass but they hit the 3 the silders need to be adjusted for sure...also the animation for the crossovers are amazing much better than last year but i cant seem to complete one without bumping into the defender and being push back. I understand that is im going up a against a small fast guard but wen roy hibbirt is stop brandon roy from crossing over every single time they switch on a screen it becomes unreal.I havent played the game since these things started happening over and over again it makes no sense cause all i do is yell helplessly @ the tv its not good for my blood pressure

                  Re: Does 3PT% need tuning?

The truth is default settings are a bit high on 3pt percentage but that's ok because it allows the mainstream vg player who is not in the NBA the chance to have some fun playing the game in a non sim way. No problem. On simulation human vs human this game is perfect replicate of NBA basketball. No need to touch simulation sliders. All we need is the freedom to play the way we want to as consumers. Give us simulation sliders in online association and leave ranked games as default so as to not lose your mainstream customer, but us sim heads are pleading with u to give us simulation sliders online association. Seriously beluba, sugar on top...please add sim sliders in OA ......
Beyond that thanks for making the best ball game of all time

Looking at the league leader stats online, the 3PT %'s look to be spot on. But nevertheless, we need to be sure before patching anything.

So do you guys think that 3PT shooting should be tuned? If so, in what way? If you have complaints, please provide as much detail as possible.

                    For example:
                    - offline, online, open, contested, great shooters, poor shooters, perfect timing, bad timing, certain shot types, against users, against AI defenders, My Player, Quick Game, Ranked Online, certain difficulties, what %'s are you seeing? etc.
                    Now for details about 3s..

yes they need to be nerfed. Not as bad as 2k11 because it was difficult to hit 3s in 2k11, this year its just too easy. Make the sliders between 2k11 and 2k12. Also if the shot is contested, that MUST change the % of the shot going in. This year even if you block the shot it still goes in (figuratively saying) I think the ratings are good, if Kobe Bryant/Kyle Korver/Derek Fisher, if any player with a rating of 70+ is WIDE OPEN they should hit it 70% of the time, if not 80

This is NOT a wishlist thread. Stop going on about Crew, All Star Weekend or any other nonsense. The topic is about 3pt%'s and what impacts them.

                      Stay on topic.

online is pretty bad. needs to be adjusted significantly. here are two examples. i also played a game vs a guy with golden state who's entire strategy was the come downcourt/stop six inches from defender and nail 3's. no contesting helped (and i wasnt in zone) he was 12 for 19 at halftime.

this is crazy...I've seen the most non realistic 3pt shots in this game and its only been out a week

Plus, you can dribble around, stop and shoot for a slight split seconde and it is not a "shot off the dribble." If you pay close attention to the animations you'll see what I mean.

Just a heads up. It's always been this way.
                          Thanks for the heads up.

I wasn't expecting shots that involved a ballhandler with no forward or lateral momentum to be consider SODs.

Actually, defenders CAN contest shots without throwing a hand up. Running into the body of a shooter seems to be a mildly effective contest. (Credit to Hotobu)

% is fine IMO. Default and Sim tendency to shoot them is too high though.

Of course it's an easy slider fix, I'm just mentioning it in terms of the defaults.

I will say online user v. user needs to be toned down just a tad. Guys just pick the Warriors and Curry and Ellis drain 3's not stop. Contested, open, it doesn't matter. Those guys shot 14 for 20 between the two of them. I know they can shoot like that on occasion, but it just seemed like they wouldn't miss. Or I could just be pissy because I lost.

As noted earlier, when playing 12 minutes online (association U v. U) it balances out just fine. In 5 minute games, there's a lot of factors mentioned already that are tough to balance.
