I haven't covered it in a video yet but the new defensive rotations especially on PnR's will need the base shot %'s to come down a tad in order to get the percentages at the right number in the right way.

Yes you can overcompensate with defense right now but real strategy demands that you let non shooters actually shoot. And laugh as they attempt it. LOL right now your not laughing your scrambling and running full speed to close out on a guy that you would normally prefer proves it first.

      IMO of course.
agreed completely. i find myself playing 'pressure shooters' more than any other setting as anyone capable of hitting 25% on their 3s this year has a 3pt symbol/ability to knock it down 2 or 3 times in a row. it's better to give up the low post shot to bynum or gasol then to leave brown, artest, matt barnes open for an uncontested 3pt/

also, the new defense rotations need to respect the defensive settings. don't leave ray allen to go help on a rondo, jeff green pnr just because ray is on the other side.

This is spot on! Now you can't really sag off of mediocre shooters, neither on 3pt or mid. So if I want to contain oponents (online especially) I will always have to use the strategy pressure shooters and run like a madman towards anyone that has the ball even if it's an inside team.

I say leave it as is. I play offline, and I get different %'s based on the teams I'm either using or defending. I'm getting great statistics using Jesus's Sliders with some of my tweaks, I have yet to see myself or the A.I. shoot over 50% in a game, we both take an average of about 15-18 trey's a game. I don't know if this helps, but lowering the A.I. 3-Point tendency could also be a factor. i'm loving this game.

The 3-Point shooting percentage is definately too high for the cpu. I played a game on the All Star setting and played Golden State and they made as a team 18 out of 19. Most other games the computer averages around 70 percent from the arc. On the same note the rebounding and passing need to be adjusted as well. Point Guards are rebounding over Center etc and its impossible to pass in the key without a turnover.

beluba!!!!!!!!...great game but has the potential to be the greatest game ever!!!!!....my issues are all in my player....the bumping in the lane i can live with...the 3pt success is wayyyyy too high....all i want is the ability to use sliders in my player...its right there in front of me and we cant use them for this mode....sooo frustrating...if we could access the sliders for mp mode we could tone it down ourselves!!!!!!!!!...hope u guys add that cuz a few things need adjusting

                Re: Does 3PT% need tuning?

                Wang,

I honestly don't think the 3pt percentages are way too high. They might be higher than what we're used to, but they seem okay. The actual problem is that contested 3 pointers are falling like the players are shooting into the ocean. The AI doesn't help much on rotating after helping in defense, and this leaves myself (player controlled) to run up to the open player beyond the arc, still contest the shot, and still see him drain it in my face. if the help defense got worked on a path to make the AI more involve in rotations, and maybe tweaking the contested shot (beyond the arc), I think the 3pt issue will be better.

But, I still believe we (league admins), should have control of the sliders. Therefore, I believe the best way to fix this issue, is to give us the power we had to make each one of our leagues unique. And that's by letting us costumize the league to our liking. Whether it's sim, non-sim, or whatever.

The thing is that offline you can just adjust the sliders to your liking. The real problem is online as CPU still varies shots a bit while online people just go crazy with 3 point shooters. Having more than 30 3pt attempts (others do it with mid) on 5 minute quarters and getting good results out of it.

Yes it does in a matter of fact I'm not sure about offline but you can go play online I can easily drop 15-20 3s a game with most NBA teams and I can hit 3s in my player with a 3 pt rating of 58 I think you may need to drop it a little bit besides that the game is great

there are just too many 3 point specalist per team and the cpu never misses

The problem with this is that it is the user who takes more of a hit by just lowering sliders all around, the CPU will still have the perfect release for most of their shots, it has to be an adjustment of player rating and in reality a 3 point shot in modern basketball is a higher percentage shot than midrange.

My last 9 online game 3 pt percentge

                            Team 3P%

                            1. PHI .300
                            2. DEN .625
                            3. DEN .313
                            4. DEN .200
                            5. DEN .333
                            6. PHX .667
                            7. PHX .263
                            8. PHX .286
                            9. PHX .474

Even with the incredible amount of lag I was able to still produce decent numbers from 3. The less lag, the higher my percentage went up. My opponents had no fear taking contested 3's off-the-dribble. I did well to stop some, but utterly failed to stop others. Seems when the connection is good(which is rare) the 3 bombs really fly. In 1 game Carmello Anthony went 8-12 from 3.

That's why there's always a set of sliders. one of the the player controlled team, and one for the CPU controlled team.

Too many times the user/cpu teammates help out or leave their man on D wide open for an easy 3, most of the time they are in no man's land and can't get back in time to contest the 3pter. Also I play a certain style in which I only control the PG of my team on Defense and not switch defenders. So it's very frustrating when seeing my cpu teammates in no man's land and not contesting the 3 on time.

I've been testing the game continuously playing against the Bulls, and at the end of the game, I see Deng always attempting 8+ 3pters, and even in one game he attempted 11 3s!?

There are two solution to the problem, you can program/fix the AI teammates so that they are not in no man's land anymore and also fix the opposing AI so that they sometimes drive to the basket or pull-up mid-range or give the AI more variety/options on offense instead of just jacking up 3s all day. I know posters reading this would be saying you should adjust your defense accordingly and switch the Defensive philosophy to pressure shooters if the opposing CPU is jacking up too many 3s, but as I stated, the user's AI teammate aren't the greatest.
Great post. Your CPU help defenders do many puzzling things that result in many open 3's.

While I agree with you, sadly if this is the solution the final scores are going to suffer because of it. It's already a chore trying to break 100 points on sim; lowering the % of success is going to lead to lower scores across the board due to the way "success" seems to have an artificial ceiling that shouldn't be there.
