I think there needs to be more room for user timing error on rebounds. I get killed by the cpu on the offensive glass because whenever I try to grab a defensive rebound myself and I miss-time my jump - even slightly - it's an automatic gather and put-back for the cpu. The timing is a bit too tight imo.

Re: Rebounding in 2k12 needs to be fixed
I don't understand 2K12's rebounding model at all. Sometimes the ball just falls through your hands and the CPU seems predetermined to get it. Other times, the ball is very live and there are multiple tips and jumps as you scrabble for the ball. I've noticed that the scripted rebounds that slips through your fingers to a CPU player in a worse position seems to happen more on the offensive end.Comment

Re: Rebounding in 2k12 needs to be fixed
my main problem with rebounding is the CPU's magical suction box outs of doom. It seems as though Strength, weight, and momentum have absolutely no affect. I can come in from the 3point line at a full sprint with Dwight Howard and then Mike bibby can slide in from 4 feet to my left and have a 100% insurmountable box out. ON DWIGHT HOWARD.
The CPU can also force you out of position when you are waiting to snag an offensive board. Set up a big man under the basket with 2 seconds left on the shot clock INSIDE of the defense. My player is then magically forced into an attempt at posting up. THAT IS NOT WHAT I WANT TO DO. WHY WOULD I POST UP WITH 2 SECONDS LEFT ON THE SHOT CLOCK. That random post up forces you into outside position, where the CPU can then perform one of their super suction box outs on you. Its just plain stupid.
Whereas the CPU escapes my box outs like my players are 3rd graders who have never played basketball before.
This makes playing my player as a big men ridiculously boring, because its virtually impossible to get offensive boards. It needs to be fixed.Comment

Re: Rebounding in 2k12 needs to be fixed
I haven't found the rebounding bad at all. I have the Offensive Rebounding slider set to 100 for both sides and the Defensive Rebounding slider for both sides left alone. I get pretty competetive rebounding stats for the majority of my games with a decent amount of offensive boards grabbed. I also like that the over the back fouls are called more often than it was in 2K11.Comment

Re: Rebounding in 2k12 needs to be fixed
Rebounding works fine, I dont know why some people come and act like this is global issue that all cant rebound or box out.
I use the left trigger to box out and it works perfectly. I bet some use the left trigger when they are a mile from the opposing player and see no boxing out and come running here demanding a fix.
Rebounding works fine and if you box out with the left trigger then you will be in position.
3 pt shooting is another thing I see little issue with
This is all off line because I dont play cheese ball onlineComment

Re: Rebounding in 2k12 needs to be fixed
Rodman consistently gets over 10 rebounds for me in a 6 minute game, and I even had a game in which D. Rose had 6 boards in a 5 minute game. Maybe I should try using Minnesota to see if a low vertical rebounder like K. Love is capable, but so far, I am not seeing any glaring rebounding issues.
All Star Sim settings by the way.Comment

Re: Rebounding in 2k12 needs to be fixed
See, this was (along with fouls) my number 1 issue with 2K11, and the reason I still haven't bought 2K12 yet. I simply want to see if the issue is fixed first.
Having to put Off Reb at 100 and Def Reb to 0 is just not right. And even then they were often too low (and like never too high).
In 2K11 I think the main issue was Offensive players not breaking to the basket upon a shot, or ideally in a set play upon anticipation of a scripted shot opportunity. That and the daft suction blocks helping the player in the best position way too much, even if they only had the end of their arm in contact.
Seems now it's more about idiotic AI though (than Def-Off imbalance). Which is actually even worse.
If this doesn't get improved in a patch there's a good chance I won't even buy it.
But yes unfortunately the sliders for rebounding are broken again. A good roster set may get you some realistic numbers, but this needs to be fixed soon.Hates exclusive licenses...

Re: Rebounding in 2k12 needs to be fixed
Biggest problem with my player since 2K10 is the rebounding, the game cheats you when your in position for rebounds, shooting percentages increase and the ball seems to always bounce away from you, or it will take an extra bounce on the rim, or bounce out of bounds just to prevent you from grabbing the rebound. It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.Comment

Re: Rebounding in 2k12 needs to be fixed
A new rebounding system/engine has been my number 1 request on every wish list I've posted in 3 years.
Player's have no idea where the ball is or what they're supposed to be doing when you jump for it, all that happens is they jump and then you hope the animation that has been selected matches up with the trajectory of the ball.Red Sox, Giants, Knicks, Liverpool FC, Bruins, UConnComment
