I know. What the game is trying to emulate is the defender cutting off your angle to the basket and as such you "bump" into him. Since they don't have precisely the correct animation for riding someone's hip without contact, you get multiple "bumping" animations.

^^this, they just need to update the animations, then no one would complain because it would look right. Unfortunately that won't be till next year.

To save making mulitple threads ill ask my question here, when you size up, hesitate or stepback and go, do you press the left stick and tap turbo towards the gap or do people just move the left stick and no turbo. I only ask as I have finally got my head around the fact you have to use turbo sparingly, but I read some one say that it's helpful to use it on the first step, and I wondered if this was the correct technique?

Turbo triggers super mega awesome defense. You can actually see it take place. A perfect example is when you're trying to fastbreak, pass the ball up the court a bit and if your defender is not lined up with you hammer turbo...watch his defender. He will assume a different stance and go to where you're going to go almost immediately. An actual crossover will trigger it more often that not also. Go into instant replay and watch it. You'll see it. The crossovers are more that the guy doesn't bite and also the combination of that and some of them have bad animations. Not bad in they look bad (well some do, 1-4 are kinda whack) but they take too long and use too much space, or your guy actually turns inward lowering his shoulder bringing you back into the defender.

I can get by defenders fairly well now, but I don't use crossovers or more specifically anything that you need to use the trigger button with (I use hesitations and sizeups) and I do not use turbo, even coming out of triple threat or sizeups or hesitations. You kinda can't do either reliably. You'll get used to it.

In short, do not use turbo in the half court unless you like being tackled by your defender.

I had a really hard time cutting to the basket but last night it all clicked and I could do it almost at will, I agree if you hold turbo it does trigger the defense more, but im talking about tapping it on the launch out.

Stepbacks and hesitations are lethal this year it seems.

To the person who mentioned about walking in the half court, your right it does make it easier and is actually more realistic.

I guess it's another move to curb cheesing. Too bad as iso moves & burst are what get ball handlers around defenders irl.
Shout out to The Watcher! Where you at bruh?

Yeah, last time I watched a guy do a blow-by, he didn't go at 80%. Your first step is a huge weapon in the league. You can still get by your guy in the game a lot without going fast, but you'll never really get in the paint cause you are not going fast and the defenders react immediately.

I agree with post above me. IRL I usually pump fake then quick first step to the basket, in 1sec Im in the paint(that looks from my eyes , but in this game first step is SO unexplosive it ruins the whole driving experience( Off the dribble or not)
