To enjoy 2k12, you have to make the CPU more 'stupid'.

This is true because the majority of fast breaks in the nba are successful on 2k12 they are not, the deflected passes are a bit overboard it definitely takes away something from the game, but since there are sliders this can be fixed easily.

Maybe the gameplay would be more balanced on Pro and the 'mirroring defense' is an outcome of some artificial AI bonuses ?
I didn't test the game for such long stretches yet that I could really evaluate but it might just be that.

So many people play on All-Star and then use sliders to give themselves slight advantages over the CPU in some areas. Maybe it would be better for a balanced and realistic experience to start out on Pro but with the same sliders for both sides.

Even with Pro/Default the gameplay balance is tipped in the CPUs favor.

With Shaq? Yes it is unrealistic

I have no issues going by defenders but I believe that people still think that crossing over and hitting turbo is the way to do it.

              No chance.

Animations are pre loaded and if you guys think that you can just cross over and blow by people then you are looking at the wrong game.

Perhaps playing on Rookie and lowering quick for cpu defense is the way to make it easier for you guys to blow by people and throw down fancy dunks

But yeah, parts of the defense can be frustrating. Not because it makes things hard, because it really doesn't, but it just makes it unrealistic basketball. You can't really open a lane to the basket by doing slick isos, you have to "cheese" to get the opening. That's no fun.
You can't have it both ways though. If it was easy to score you would complain that the defense sucks in this game. I already know how you guys work...

Thanks for taking a reasonable discussion to a ridiculous extreme.

I think you're dismissing their point just a bit too early.

They DO have some credence to their gripes; The CPU certainly does mirror your actions too well. Ever play Mortal Kombat? You actually find the CPU's opposing AI can react to your button input.

I've found that in the paint, some shot attempts are defended on a one to one basis with your offensive player's moves. I know some would call it anticipation. Personally, it seems like it was (part of) the developer's solution to "locking down the paint" this year.

It's not always the case, but it certainly is present at times.

The overdone momentum on players moving when passed to is also part of this problem.

I'm not saying some don't make up things for the sake of doing it. I'm just saying his comment isn't completely off...

Reasonable? I mean we complained for years that it was to easy to get to the rim and just dunk and then now they made it tougher and made it more of a team game and we want to complain that the cpu sticks like glue

Maybe we should want to go back to do

                        No chance.

Animations are pre loaded and if you guys think that you can just cross over and blow by people then you are looking at the wrong game.

Perhaps playing on Rookie and lowering quick for cpu defense is the way to make it easier for you guys to blow by people and throw down fancy dunks
nobody is talking about Shaq but you. he's not even in the league anymore. smh...

you should be able to get by your man with a quicker ball handler...but that doesn't mean you are guaranteed a score once you beat your man. the solution to "locking down the paint" shouldn't be to make the defenders super-human at guarding the ball...the solution should be to improve the help defense so bigs come over and stop penetration once the first defender is beaten...2k already solved the problem by improving the help defense in the paint, so they didn't need to make on-ball defenders over-powered as well. it was kind of overkill on 2k's part.

                            I learned its about patience

you do a move they bite but you didnt expect them to bite = locked up

You do a move and go and make them have to use there foot speed to keep up = you lay up the ball

same rules apply to them as it does to you... they cant go side to side at the speed of light... and when you get to the rim.. GET CLOSE ENOUGH FOR THE CONTACT NOT TO MATTER...

Ive won about 4 games now... Hall of Fame w/ shooting sliders for the cpu at 45 did the trick... I had to change nothing else..

Stop throwing passes where you want them to go and throw passes where there is an opening to do so...

                            Im lovin it...

                              and tbh

mods dont get upset cuz this needs to be said

If you cant get to the rim on Allstar or Pro or any of the lower diff. then its not the game its you... you are not that good and need to work on gettin better...

this is not a Im better than you thing... its a how can you complain when you're playing on the easiest levels thing... they are there for a reason... step your game up... stop blaming 2k for your short comings... I couldnt get to the rim either... I learned how... I couldnt pass without turning the ball over... i slowed down... I couldnt shoot, I worked on it... Bad in the post? I worked on it... yall want everything to be caveman easy, and when it is you complain... but the second it gets a lil harder you complain as well...

sounds to me like ego's are hurting... I had to turn the game down to superstar to learn it... maybe you should try to turn it to down to rookie n get the hang of it... but dont blame 2k for something you cant do but others that play at the hardest level are able to do... I mean that alone shows its not impossible
