A lot of very good suggestions have come from this thread, I'll summarize it all up for you now. Having made these changes the game is playing magnificently; the changes I've made have literally made what was once a disappointing game into the best NBA simulator ever- by far. So here are the changes you need to make.

    1) Play on Pro difficulty. Allstar is unbearably cheesy at some points, but Pro mode is pretty much perfect with the following changes.
    2) Select the gamestyle to Simulator and then make these adjustments...
    2) Reduce the CPU's Offensive Awareness to 20 and their Defensive Awareness also to 20.
    3) Reduce the CPU's On-Ball Defense to 40, and increase the USER's to 60.
    4) Reduce the CPU's Offensive and Defensive Rebounding to 40 and increase the user's to 65.
    5) Reduce the CPU's Hands to 39.
    5) Reduce the CPU's Play Passing Lanes to 39.
    6) Reduce the USER's 3 point shooting to 49. Keep the CPU's at 50.
    7) Reduce the USER's medium shooting to 49. Keep the CPU's at 50.
    8) Increase the Fouls tendencies for both CPU and USER- this is subjective to your preference, but the Simulator standard settings for fouls are definitely too low.
    9) Increase the USER's passing to 55.
    10) Lastly, a gamplay tip is you need to REALLY learn the post game this year. 2k12 has given us an incredible post game this year, so practice your post game and learn a handful of the moves. With a good post player you can dominate and get easy buckets and fouls.
    11) One more bit of advice, go easy with the Y button (Block) this year (Triangle for ps3). Try to use Hands Up when playing defence. In the post you will give away a ton of fouls if you abuse the Y button. Simply being up close with the guy you're guarding is enough to distract him in the post, so that way you'll not give away fouls and they'll more than likely miss the shot.

I'm pretty sure that's all the changes that are needed. I know it seems like these settings are highly geared towards weakening the CPU, but for 2k12 these changes are necessary. Now that I've made these changes the game is playing so much better. I still lose games against good teams, and I tend to beat teams that I should be beating. The game now plays smoothly and realistically. You will be punished for slacking and rewarded for playing intelligently.

good game play with these, and i am someone who would not classify myself as good enough to play on sim!

my only gripe is that when backing down with boozer in the post the cpu continually got call for 3 in the key, anyway to fix this and it would be awesome!

Re: To enjoy 2k12, you have to make the CPU more 'stupid'.

What helped me was not using the turbo, and not second guessing your self...

In my player mode... me a 69 rated SF, 75 dunk, 80 Layup (Athletic Defualt)... And I also upgraded my hesitation...

One thing I did, going against Paul Pierce, I triple threat Jab step, exploded out, and didn't hold turbo. As I continued going to my chosen side, I noticed that I got a step on Pierce, and was able to dunk it with ease.

Now it doesn't happen for me successfully all the time, especially against higher rated defenders... Couldn't work on Chauncy Billups, or LeBron... But not hitting turbo (Which is hard for me) helped me out a lot on driving the lane...

And to let you know... hitting turbo triggers the "Giddyup" animation, which slows you down before you can go faster... And this is all with my My Player... think if I had D.Rose or some damn body...

And what the dude said, after he argued against the thread is actually true in one of his posts... He gave some good insight on one of the pages in here... but he basically just said what I said...

The passing issue needs to be fixed tho... And if you can't get it done on this time down the court... give up the rock to someone else, and try and get them next time... And if you keep doing the same tired jab step or hesitation move, they will no longer fall for it... In some way its unrealistic, because if you do it 3 times IRL, they might fall for it once... but then come back later in the game, do the same move, and they might fall for it again... Hopefully the CPU gets a "Forgetability" factor lol... But anywho.. I hope this helps in some way...

Changing sliders is weak to me... and thats my opinion... If you like sliders, then you like sliders... Im not hatin... but playing ranked matches online are without sliders... try to play without sliders, before you resort to them... Unless its a league or something... But when you get into a ranked game, 2k only has two things for you... Hard D*ck and bubble gum... and they are all outta bubble gum...

to really enjoy 2k12 you have to enjoy playing against the computer... since they took away all the fun modes. i have no complaints with how cpu plays though, they're beatable.
