This should only happen if one of those players are not able to get through the screen or they take too long to do so.

that is for down screens. For backscreens they should be switching those. I don't know if that has been changed tho.

I saw this a lot when i was playing the stockton greatest game. I didn't want to leave kobe or jones so I put them both on deny (and later i tried play tight). I didn't change anything else in the utah setup .

cpu lakers used the play where shaq gets post up position from the top of the key and kobe/jones pops up to the top. i eventually just placed off ball back to auto just so they wouldnt switch.

2ks defensive rotations are always messed up pre-patch

Re: Why are defenders leaving their assignments?

I said this in another thread
"You are 100% right, I just finished playing a game Magic (me) @ Lakers (CPU) I was up by 4 in the fourth and suddenly the CPU just starts sinking 3's, just blowing right past my defenders like they're not even there, and my teammates leave people wide open.

On the other hand I missing layups, wide wide open 3's with perfect release. And so I end up losing by 5. It's just so annoying and frustrating, I hate when I play a videogame and feel like I get cheated by a computer algorithm that decides that the CPU will win.

It's just not you or me, this is a problem and of course there is gonna be some people who say play rookie or w/e. But this was not as big of an issue last year which is this year. A game should rarely feel unfair."

And I want to add that it happens often with the bad rotations, and in key moments of the game where you AI teammate just goes the wrong way to doesn't move, and you have no real control over it. The other thing is that the screens are too effective, my defenders are always getting caught and just can't move at all giving the open player 5sec to do whatever.

The messed up thing about this is that this was a huge problem in nba 2k9(note it's sad but these videos still apply to nba 2k12):

Then they fixed it and now it's back? What are they gonna purposely add a problem in the game so they can say the "fixed" it for next year as a marketing ploy? We shouldn't be having the same problems in 2k9.

Your right Ghost it still applies to 2K12. Even with setting ALL on/off-ball to play tight there were times when my team mates didn't know who to guard or left a shooter open which happens sometime. In my game it did feel lame as it was my fault.

I feel you Mr_K. Sometimes it usually happens going into halftime, midway thru the third or a hell of a run in the forth which I can deal with if it's not over done. I try to get a handle on it by calling timeouts, not getting into track meet with the cpu and just play my game at my tempo.

Czar I ran with setting on/off-ball to moderate and play tight and zeroed out help defense. I can't say that I noticed wandering from my cpu team mates only twice but it exist. I shouldn't have to play tight on everyone but I guess I'll make the adjustment to limit or prevent it from happening again.

I also didn't notice my offensive players(bigs) wandering away from the block this last game either.
Where they DO that? ? ?

Yeah I definitely remember this in 2k9....but that was more unecessary double teaming than anything...I dont remember defenders simply running away from ball handlers like in 2k12...lol

They FIXED this in the patch...so crazy it would make its way back....

Check those videos i linked in my last post man, the defenders in 2k would just run away from their man sometimes. Just like in 2k12. It's a shame huh.

every year the first patch has to add boxing out, shooting adjustments of some sort and improved defensive rotations.

Its a 2k fact of life.

The thing that is grinding my gears this year is the full and half court passes by the AI for easy layups. I know you can prevent this by running a good offense, but it seems like the AI of your teammates is on stupid pills while the opponent AI is not only genius, but can read your mind at the worst times. All that said and I still love the game

Yeah 2k was too lazy too make the game challenging in other ways so they make up for it by giving the AI cheap advantages. Can't say im surprised really.

Can't say I'm surprised to see you keep trying to level this ridiculous "laziness" charge in various threads. There isn't another sports game that comes close to the amount of content, probably not the level of customization, etc. as NBA2K12. If something doesn't work the way it should/way you think it should that's one thing, but it's silly to try to call their efforts lazy.

Yeah this happens. Actually 2k will change you game adjustments. I just noticed this last night playing a game. Anyway...I had a game against the Nuggets. It was a great game and I won at the buzzard. But AC Green (Cpu) left Gallinari for no reason while I was guarding the ball. This resulted in a wide open 3. Even after I set "never" for double teams and playtight on Gallinari and Chandler.

                            I was upset naturally. Lol.

Great gameplay without a lot of problems/bugs>Content and customization. Just sayin. Gameplay is what makes a game, it's more than content, customization, and shiny features. It's more than something not working the way it should, it's more like something not working the way it should. . .for 3 years. When a game is having some of the same problems it had 3 years ago what would you call it?

Look man, i've been playin nba 2k games since dreamcast, and they've made some great games. 2k12 is good, but im getting tired of seeing the same problems year after year with no effort to fix them.

Regardless, some of you can't articulate a view without saying something ridiculous/extreme to try to make a point. The one thing I'd think they couldn't be called is lazy, yet it's easy for some of you to toss that out and ignore the other 90% of the game. Perhaps the issues haven't been fixed to your satisfaction but try to have a *little* perspective. Saying there's "no effort [on their part]" to fix things is absurd. And totally disregards the fact that there's a lot of ground for them to cover in this game, more than in most if not all other sports games.
