A lot of the complaints aren't so much gameplay related but feature related, stuff like heat check, game modes disappearing. Everyone made the big stink about crew disappearing, I am more angry at online leagues disappearing.(no online association is not anything like the old online leagues, in both good and bad ways) But other things like the lack of feedback options being viewable online, no lobbies, not being able to view friends vip's. not being able to view members of your online association's vip to scout them. just a lot of questionable design decisions. from a gameplay standpoint this game is phenomenal. but there are so many things missing from last years game that really hold it back.

See, im like the opposite. I play mainly offline(online is ok, but i don't like ANY lag, im really picky about lag) the problems i have are more with the gameplay itself.

Passing(we need much more control over the kind of passes we use) defenders leaving assignments open for no reason, no matter what the settings are, unnecessary animations(i often time see my big man double clutch and get the ball block whereas if they would of just went up strong it would of been an easy 2 points or maybe a foul) and i don't know if trade logic counts as a gameplay problem but that too. Those are just some, i could list more but this isn't the thread for a full list/details.

I honestly don't think anyone really HATE'S the game but that some things just really annoy and frustrate people.

there is a thin line between love and hate. small mistakes by 2k make this game look bad. especially defensive ai... it s easy to see 2k did good job on a lot areas it s hard to belive how these bugs happen. it s so appearent. i prefer this game easily to 2k11 but like i said dont do this mistakes 2k! for ex rebound... a lot of people here told there were no box outs. and nothing changed in nba 2k12. jason kidd is jumping like wade for a rebound. why not fix it?passes out of jump shots...still too effective... whatccan i say?

i'm one of the people in the "anti-2k12" camp, but i feel my complaints are legitimate. I don't think 2k12 is a bad game, but i think there are some things 2k11 did better. for me it's about the responsiveness of the control and the quality of the contextual animations (passing, layups, blocks, etc)...in my opinion 2k12 is a step back in these areas, and these are key areas that can make or break a basketball game for me. 2k12 LOOKS better, for sure...they smoothed out movement and everything flows very nice visually..the problem is that control just has a delayed, sluggish feeling that i didn't feel in 2k11...and the animations that play out many times just don't make sense for the situation. responsive control and quick conextual animations that make sense are probably the 2 most important things for me in any video game....there are many situations in 2k12 where i feel i had an opportunity, but because the game picked a bad animation or a delayed animation, it ruined that opportunity (whether it be a pass animation, layup animation, etc)...in 2k12 i feel like i'm being limited by things i shouldn't be limited by.

then on top of that there's the dumb AI by my teammates, who no longer make cuts when they should, don't stay put when they are open on the perimeter, and behave strangely on defense...again, this is an area of the game that worked fine in 2k11 but has gotten worse for some reason in 2k12. and then there's the way overpowered CPU, which is too hard to get by on offense and too hard to defend due to inadequate defensive control and lack of collision on the ball handler.

again, i'm not saying 2k12 is bad, but there are a lot of frustrating issues that simply were not there in 2k11...and that is what is so infuriating...if i had never played 2k11, i probably would not be as mad about these problems, but because i've already seen 2k11 do these things right, it makes it very hard to accept these new problems in 2k12....

makes me wonder who they have testing these games and how they didn't spot these issues early on. anyone who is familiar with 2k11 would've spotted these new problems early and pointed them out.

i gave it a few weeks, but i just couldn't enjoy 2k12 as this new crop of problems became more and more apparent each day. i'm sure the patch will help some, but i really don't feel like waiting for a patch when i bought the game 3 weeks ago...earlier today i traded in 2k12 and got Infamous 2...and i'm not looking back. i'll check back in to see how people respond to the patch, but i'm done with 2k basketball for this year...hopefully they'll get their mojo back and 2k13 will be better (fingers crossed).

Because if you play online the game is 100% garbage. People doing stupid things. Last guy I played was in such a panic over user contesting shots he's running around with his hand up all game. So realistic......

So the game itself is garbage because the person you played against, online, was an idiot? Every online game in the history of video games is plaqued by morons. Does this mean every online game ever made is horrible in your opinion?

I'm an offline gamer myself when it comes to sports games. I can handle the idiots when it comes to FPS, racing games, etc because there's only so much they can do in the end. When it comes to sports games though it's a different story. You're not going to have a "realistic" experience playing online. All of you complaining about the "cheese" online need to either learn to deal with it or just stop playing online. 2K could patch everything to hell and back but people are never going to change. The idiots online do not make a good game bad.

That being said, yes, there are some small issues with the game offline. I think most of them are in My Player mode but I understand it's probably not easy to make an RPG experience in a basketball game easy especially when the game has to feel authentic.

I got the bird cover so I must have got the good version.

I think that a lot of the gripes come from people not being willing to change play styles with the new game. I am not going to look back and try to compare 2k12 with 2k11. Its pointless, 2k11 will always be the best 2k11. 2k12 is a different game. Just play it like its new, because there are so many things to take advantage of.

Online is not that bad any more now that I can actually play D. The iso moves are hard to guard as they should be in the hands of a user. Ive found that everything has a counter. Even 3 point shooting and steals.

There are most definitely problems with this game, but its mostly due to getting so close to a complete sim. Its like having a fast car on the road, but when it gets on the race track it sucks. Its still a video game, with a ton of moving parts. It is the best BBall game ever. I couldnt even think of going back to 2k11.

Eh, that's kind of a copout. I've been playing 2k for a pretty long time i know all about the settings. I never leave the game on default. I've always had a habit of adjusting my defense in 2k games. I always put double team to never, i've had my settings to play tight, deny ball, etc. I've still seen the same results. Now i will say Czars video is very useful(as usual),but there's NO way defenders should be leaving their man wide open like that for any reason at all on any settings because most of the time when they leave their man they don't even do anything. That's not really sim, there's no kind of defense that just tells you to leave a man wide open and go stand around and do nothing or just stand in the paint like that. Part of it is the principle of the matter i think.

I will try messing around with the coaching profile some though(but i kind of don't like to mess with the coaching profiles of teams because i want to play the style that they play)

Seems like there's no convincing people.

It looks like I got the only GOOD Copy of the game on the planet , or people make it seem that way.

I don't know if I bought a different copy than everyone else, or what... But every problem I had with the game (I'm an offline gamer) Has been fixable with game sliders or settings.

It makes me slam my head against a wall every time I see "2k11 is better than 2k12" Hah. No. Not even close people.

My only gripe about the game is My Player , They have an amazing idea here. The only problem is instead of fixing the stupid A.I. , They just add more and more gimmicks and little features that have nothing to do with the gameplay itself.

But I usually play Association more than anything anyway so... I guess I'll keep going up to bat for this game, but no one seems to see how great it is, and i never understand why.

Maybe It's my Larry Bird Cover.

Yep apparently you and I have the only good copies, I also have the Byrd cover and haven't had any problems other than the occasional dumb AI and Da Czar broke down why that happens in his latest 2k12 tutorial video. Its just some coach settings that can be adjusted.

NBA 2k12 is amazing i dont why everybody is forgetting but 2k11 was garbage before the patch , all this game need is a patch
