Yes, play some random old game where the AI was too stupid to do really anything and therefore wouldn't do anything wrong either...

But I agree that this can be frustrating, I remember this issue a little bit from 2k11 also if I'm not totally on the wrong track here.

It even happens online. It doesnt happen often but its like an automatic turnover and it only happens in the halfcourt so its not like you are throwing 40 foot crosscourt passes in transition.

Yeah, and sometimes both guys are standing still and the receiver is like 5 feet away. The most pointless and impossible-to-anticipate cut ever.

That's a prime example of it. There have been dozens of times where I'm trying to kick it to a guy wide open at the elbow and as the pass leaves my guys hands they inexplicably start drifting towards the baseline behind the defense.

It happens with icon passing too, when no direction has been selected. Leading them the other way isn't a solution either, since it would put your big at the 3pt line where they're useless.

This is just another flaw in the weakest area of the entire game, passing and overall ball movement.

Bigs running to the 3 point line has been in the 2K series for a while now. I hate it when you just want to direct a big to the high post or the elbows, and he ends up running behind the 3 point line. I don't want to have Shaq (I usually play with classic rosters) on the perimeter. I see lead passing still lacks intelligence in that aspect.

Been a pet peeve of mine and 2K10 and 2K11. Always seems to happen at the worst time and just about ALWAYS results in a turnover...

I mentioned this VERY early on and how this is an example of the overdone momentum.

If you don't see this happening, you must be blind to it. Directional or icon passing - doesn't matter. Your teammate will cut to the hoop despite the fact you want them stationary to take a jumper.

This happens to me mostly when I am in the post. The cpu will bring help and my center will be free throw line extended for a wide open jumper. I will then pass him the ball and he will run to the basket for a layup. If you have a 89 midrange please stay and take the open jumper Mr. Horford.

No, i think his point is that the player moved while he was open. I think.

And I dont think it has anything to do with momentum. The issue is the cpu doesn't seem to know that its open and killing space by cutting.

Bad example. Here the pass was done to a player that was already moving away.

He may have been a touch late passing the ball, but I see what he was talking about. IF his guy would have just stayed out at the elbow he would have had a wide open mid-range shot.

By the time he had pressed the pass button and the animation kicked in (remember slow passing is one of the issues that's popping up), the receiver had already moved towards the baseline.

interesting, this doesnt happen to me when I use regular passing/ stick passing....

I exclusively pass with A now b/c icon passing is horrible.....

it has stopped these things from happening for the most part....

But that's not even what is being discussed in the thread. It's about the players cutting to the rim.

If the video share wasn't so poor this year I'd have a clip for show and tell.

It has <EVERYTHING> to do with the "momentum" on passes. If a player is moving at the EXACT moment the user presses the pass button, the receiver continues with his motion, hence "momentum."

Passes have two animations - passer and receiver. The receiver has momentum this year. This was done to solve the complaints about people stopping on a fastbreak from last year and it screwed up the basic drive and kick game this year. Your teammates follow you in to the paint, especially if you try to make a pass baseline to the weakside corner.

It's something that can be fixed in a patch. Fingers crossed that it doesn't screw up fastbreaks though and they can separate the problem.

On the 2 on 1, unless you icon lead pass him away from the basket, or icon cut control before a pass, the pass reciever will ignore which way he was running and automatically cut to the basket the instant you press pass, This is turning what should be an open pass to now throwing the ball directly to the defender. If 2k is going to patch this, they first have to figure out what is causing the auto cut in this situation.u
