I dont want the game easy period!! I just want good basketball logic implemented close to real as possible. If that's not possible leave as is.

Re: Passing in the paint ?
One other thing on a fastbreak is the way the defender can take up so much "space" while standing in the middle. Even if I passed it from left to right. The CPU never comes out to stop the ball. I should be able to pass the ball up court (to the left), back to the middle, touch pass it to the right. Throw a alley oop to the cutter filling the left lane.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: Passing in the paint ?
The giver or the go-er(yeah just made up a wordThe one thing I don't like right now is the way the give and go works on the break. As KyotoCarl said early. I should be able to pass the ball to up court quickly. And then the passer fill in the lanes. But that doesn't happen. I would like to be able to tell the CPU to shoot or when to go in for a layup (even though I'm controlling another player). But back to the give and go. When I use it. The player just doesn't keep running hard. He gets stuck in his animation. And doesn't keep running.
edit: There should be more plays where the basketball doesn't touch the ground. Thats's what fastbreak basketball is really about.
? For me the giver usually stops which sucks because it eventually becomes a 1 on 1 so I try to time it properly.

Re: Passing in the paint ?
My vote is to fix it and let the cheeser do their thing. Whatever the developers "broke" in order to stop cheesing, change that to make it more realistic. I want my fastbreaks to look the CPU's.Shout out to The Watcher! Where you at bruh?Comment

Re: Passing in the paint ?
+1
the fast break works, it just requires too much precision right now, which is better than seeing balls going through players' limbsComment

Re: Passing in the paint ?
I love it! The "giver and the go-er". lol
Probably should be more like the giver and the trailer. But I'll roll with that lol.
Great example of what I'm talking about.

Re: Passing in the paint ?
Then leave as is, there are other areas that need addressing that could make the overall exp better. In the right hands it may allow you to get a few passes through that you should but currently may not be able to.
In the wrong hands expect a few more lead pass attempts from Wisconsens finest. Some of those that aren't getting through now will probably make it through.

Re: Passing in the paint ?
Why is everyone focusing on the fast break? The thread started with a question about passing IN THE PAINT. I have yet to see many people talking about passing between players in the paint. Most fast break passing occurs at the key.Comment

Re: Passing in the paint ?
Actually in Czars post he specifically brought up 3-2, 2-1 fast breaksComment

Re: Passing in the paint ?
I understand that, but that seems to be the only thing focused on in this discussion. Does nobody see anything wrong with actual passing in the paint even in the half court offense?Comment

Re: Passing in the paint ?
passing in the paint and into the paint is a mess. I fully understand it's congested, but for the sake of argument, if I'm passing to a big with a pg o him I want to throw it high to get it to the big and either have him finish at the rim off the pass, via an alley-oop which I'm finding my pg literally just throws into the chest of the defender, or have the big jump, catch come down and go right back up. The frustration I'm having with passing this year as opposed to last has made me slow down fast break situations because while I know this is not realistic, I want to have a 3 on 1 with two high flyers actually end in a spectacular dunk animation. Unlike most, I'm willing to forego some of the sim aspects to actually enjoy the game itself.Comment

Re: Passing in the paint ?
this can be fixed with slider adjustments - every time I see something fishy I do an instant replay and adjust sliders to fix the fishiness - example:
I am at the 3PT line with the ball - teammate cuts towards the baseline and the AI defender is closely following him (not looking at me, cannot physically see me, trying to 'deny the ball' to my cutter) I lead pass to my cutter (lead pass because I am trying to move my cutter even farther from his defender, making the pass safer) and the moment I press the pass button the defending AI player turns his head (at least they turn their head now - they would just raise their hands without looking in earlier versions) to see I am passing and steals it. psychic.
maybe not the best description but this is something that I was able to fix with slider adjustments -
I guess it is a combination of (in the order of importance):
defensive awareness, play passing lanes, steal success
anyway, I strongly suggest giving pro/default a chance and go from there.
edit: my post might have been a little off topic considering the OP title. but passing and the defensive reactions and the associated outcomes are all related.Comment
