rookies are all created players so its essentially the same thing.

but seriously, this is probably the biggest glitch in the game because it makes playing with drafted players pointless in association. mode killer for sure.

Each and everyone of us has a unique perception of how the players, teams and the league should behave. We might share some things between us but the point is to be able to edit/alter whatever doesnt fit our view and "fix" it, to be able to customize our perfect association.

            - Last year they introduced the new AI for drafting and trading, leaving aside that they did not gave us "detailed" and specific info about how long does it takes for the AI to implement its plans and of how long takes a team to go from one stance to the other and that it seemingly didnt work ... what was/is more frustrating is that we cant decide which teams are on what stance ... last year they gave DAL & SA & PHO a selling stance, so we saw Dirk/Manu/Nash beeing traded while their teams were still competitive ... so, we need to be able to edit that.
We need to have stablished parameters of how long does the stances last for the teams, specially for appreciating what the AI does.

            - Also, as already stated, team chemestry has a say on the standings, yet we cant alter it to try and reflect a current trend.

            - Players have some things that tend to matter them the most, like money, winning, etc ... yet we cant alter that to try and make then fit our perception of what they seem to prefer the most.

            - Coaches tend to move within both, the season and the offseason, thus we cant currently do that. We have "need" the coaches movement and the create a coach for some years now. We also need to edit the coaches attributes as we do with the players, to fit our perception.

            - We need a AI trading logic that is based on the team stance but highly integrated to the team needs. Aside from the normal factors that are considered, such as payroll, player contract, etc. We also need this AI to consider the moment in question ... how is the team doing, how far in the season are we, how long have the recent "pieces" join the team to consider them not fittable.

            - We need that the options given to the users, matter ... as of now there are some that dont, like has been noted: assigments of rotations (some players that have 0 mins assigned still play), cpu rotations and players morale totally obviate player roles, assigments of task for the cpu, etc.

            Others ...

            - We need a bugless stat tracking screen ... for the last 4 itinerations this screen has presented unaccurate data due to bugs.

            - We need FA to have some sort of high impact on the rumor mill, like news about a player deciding between 2 suitors, or of players going after the highest bidder or the bidder with a winning club, etc.

            - We need the attributes to have a better correlation between ingame results and sim stats results ... when simming, default roster attributes only produce a max of 10 teams (too few) even or above "the avg" FG% for teams, vs what happened last season ... also, a max of 10 teams (too few) even of bellow the avg 3pts FG% ... also, the vast majority of teams are bellow the avg ppg, thus thi last thing is more due to Tempo.

            - If possible, a separate new variable such as "market value" (btw, editable) would be a welcomed integration to the trade value calculation currently composed by just overall and potential ... this would allow potential to mainly affect progression and just a bit the trade value ... market value would be the new factor to affect more relevantly the trade value ... this would also allow 2k not to biase or manipulate individual attributes to get a dessired overall or trade value ... the new variable, by nature would be subjective and therefor, allow for a better experience.

            - A real dynamic commentary that accounts for things that happen within the association, like rising of new stars, past season individual and team stats leaders, player movement (trades & signings, coaches), etc.
I smiled when I saw this thread and my post back then, was tempted to find similar posts made since 2k10 and earlier ... 2K is the best sports videogame franchise, IMHO ... then again, it is shocking how many if not all of these suggestions have been omited ... shocking because the comunity has been asking them for a long time and because the 2k devs do listen and try to please us, as long as it is possible and it doesnt deviate them from their vision. Maybe they do deviate or are not possible ?

Hope is the last thing to be lost, so here is hope for a possible near integration.

Anyways, here is a post I made on a recent thread ... very, very similar but with little additions and tweaks ...

            - Everything should be editable (player ambitions and goals, team staff like movement/creation of coaches and assistants, team chemestry, picks trade values, hidden coaches/players/team ratings, etc ...)

            - Have a wider sim stat engine range for results, that not only consider past season trends but also historic performances (like players over 12 assists, 4 blks, teams with less than 20 wins, etc ...)

            - Integration of GM personalities (like madden 12) as well as team moods (rebuild, contender, pretender, stand pat), this could make a very dynamic outcome (like seeing a GM with the opposite posture of a franchise and then getting fired)

            - Introduce more stories and rumors, as well as features like post game interviews and such things found on my player

            - Get rid of the sylouttes for good and at least apply cyber faces to "all" aspects & parts of the game.

            - Give the AI access to the multiteam trade feature already implemented, the AI only does 2 team trades (the user has the ability to propose 3 team trades, the AI dont, but the logic is there, thus not implemented)

            - Provide a truely dynamic comentary that accounts for current and past individual and team accomplishments, as well as trades and how they affected the standings for those teams

            - Introduce a 10 plays of the week feature and make practice matter (like focusing scrimmage on countering the strengths of our next opponent, adjusting also the drills to fit this)

            - Make it possible to invite online friends to it (like 2k10 did)
While things change, like customers modes liking trends and such, Association is without a doubt, the meat and potatoes of all modes ... after seeing all the anouncements and after LD2k post of 2k13 already being the best 2k game ever ... I am confident that we will see some improvements for this mode.

              Great thread!!!

I did not notice it until now. Hopefully they will upgrade also OA improving on all the glitches and specially they giving us again all the control (sliders, flex shedule and the rest of the admin tools) we had in online leagues pre 2k12...

              Cheers! ;-)

Re: OFFICIAL OFFLINE ASSOCIATION MODE SUPPORT

I would be happy if they just fixed the bugs from last year, like cold spots, stats, standings. And I want them to bring back editable D-League players. I also hate the tendency progression, especially with the big men 3 point tendencies. I hope they add a better way for players to progress, so we can get them to progress in certain ways without using those horrible monthly drills. I'm thinking like the CHoops 2k8 where you can select certain things to work on for each player each week. But I don't think 2k will even fix all the bugs, let alone add anything worthwhile. I think they just changed things to reflect the new CBA and called it a day. I hope I'm wrong.

I want a players to stay in the game blow out or not unless I set it for him to come out.

I want the option to watch the All-Star game if I'm in it or not. If I don't want to control my player in a dunk contest I should have the opportunity to chose.

The minutes you set your player to play should be more responsive.

                    Ronyell,

May I suggest that you do a new thread for 2K13 or edit the first page of this thread to include a full list of all of the bugs/glitches/problem areas with association mode and their solutions/workarounds right there with them? It would be a lot easier to see all of this in one place.

So what it would look like is this:

                    Glitches/Problems:

                    1) Player potential ratings too high, resulting in too many high caliber players sitting in free agency.
SOLUTION: Download XYZ roster or see list of suggested potential edits.

                    2) All CAP cold zones
SOLUTION: Download XYZ, bla bla bla

                    3) Unrealistic draft classes
SOLUTION: Download these draft classes instead

Etc. Etc. Etc. --> That way we see all of the problems/solutions in ONE place instead of having to hunt for them throughout a thread. Know what I mean?

Offline association, all day ... everyday!!

I tamper with myplayer but I'm an offline association guy! I love the idea of running a terrible franchise or powerhouse team to greatness. That's how I'll be playing NBA2K13.

                      Couldn't vote on the poll.

Wow! I co-sign every suggestion in this thread so I won't be redundant by repeating everything. I just want to add that it would be nice to see more attention being paid to rookies. Every now and then, there should be a high draft pick that turns into a bust and a late pick that turns into a quality starter. This should also be a big deal. Add commentary where the announcers are talking about how Player X is really disappointing his coach.

If nothing else, my biggest problem with association mode is that it needs attention and fine tuning. Even if they don't add new bells and whistles, just polish it.

You still see mediocre OVR teams with low chemistry make the playoffs tho and it's not just one team a year.

The fact that someone has to manipulate the chemistry to make it have a greater effect proves that it needs to be tune.

Right now, the only thing that effects chemistry is W/L record and morale (which is flawed in its own way)

Guys like Jason Kidd, Grant Hill and Steve Nash doesn't have an effect on team chemistry neither does having a core group of players on the team for several years.

Trading a player away effects chemistry but that ties into morale.

Coach ratings, lol that's a whole different story haha they are just as messed up as the player ratings.

Player contracts need to be fixed

If you go deep into your Association (beyond Year 5), players start demanding for ridiculous contracts. For example, players who finish their rookie contracts start demanding for $15 million+ despite having an OVR of 73 and averaging sub-par stats ...

Star players leaving their team via FA despite coming off a championship season

A player's hometown should also play some part in deciding where he signs (nonetheless, the player's current team performance and contract/money should be the primary factor)
