Every year I agree and say the game is fine, people just need to learn and practice more etc.

But this year, no. The passing is just bad and that's that.

We got both of these teams in the game, can we do even half of this with them?

The passing in this game is terrible, plain and simple. Too slow and unresponsive, as others have mentioned. Its impossible to swing the ball around the perimeter, and simple passes that NBA players make on the reg are made to be difficult due to stupid animations.

          Sorry, I gotta disagree...

I've played with and against both of these teams, and like many of you before, I felt that the passing was absolutely disastrous. But, after adjusting my sliders here and there and getting very accustomed with not only the right stick passing, but the motion and timing of animations off ball screens, cuts, and fades, these passes are easily obtainable.

I wish that I had the technological prowess to display what I've been able to do with the passing in the game. There's really so much you can do.

Re: The Passing Is Fine/Great Game

I don't have a big problem with the passing. However, I think that passing on this game could improve greatly. Success should be tied to the rating of the passer, more than anything else. If passing speed, accuracy, and animations were "truly" tied to the player ratings (soccer games do a good job of this) then passing would be more realistic. There are not alot of good passing players or teams in today's NBA. If you look at the assist and turnover numbers of the players in the league today, you will be surprised to see that most players are not good passers.

Thus, I think that open passes to stationary targets in this game should be improved. However, I am not sure that the accuracy of passes to moving targets is that far off, for most passers. The problem is the inability to utilize the great passers in this game.

Most big men can't throw accurate passes to moving targets. If there is a moving offensive player who is being covered closely by a defender, then most players at any position can not complete this pass. Additionally, there are a ton of nba players that cannot throw an accurate post entry pass. Watch an Orlando magic game, and you will see D Howard constantly get good position, or make a strong roll to the rim and not receive the pass from his teammates because they can't make the pass.
Steve Nash should hit the cutter, but Brandon Bass should not.

There are 2 things 2k should target to make passing more realistic and acceptable.

              1) 2k should give better passing animations to the higher rated passers. It should also increase the speed, and accuracy of passes for the players with the higher pass ratings. Similar to the layup, post, and dunk packages. They should have pass packages to certain players that are directly tied to ratings. Only certain players should be allowed to pass with one hand, or pass off of a moving dribble, or with their off hand.

              2) 2k should change the way offensive players receive passes. Nba players can not catch passes that they don't see coming. If there is no eye contact between the passer and the receiver then the pass should not be completed. The psychic offensive and defensive player should be removed from the game in regards to passing. Everyone must see the ball. Additionally, most players cannot catch a pass running full speed with one hand. The long passes and passes with high speed usually require 2 hands to catch, everyone in the nba is not jerry rice.
